Personal Description:
I have worked in Research Science for over 15 years. I completed my doctoral training in Molecular Biology at Leeds University and then traveled to the US to work for their government at the National Institute of Health. Here I worked on elucidating the mechanisms behind the genetics of aging. After 5 productive years in the US I returned home to take a contract position with King's College, London working on developing a novel method of Gene targeting.

Teaching Experience:

I have had extensive experience teaching students from my doctoral training days until my last post as a Post Doctoral Research Associate at King's College, London. I have mentored and trained students from undergraduate level to Ph. D level throughout my 15 years of science. In addition, I have lectured students in their final year undergraduate year. I have privately worked with tutees for the past three years. I am provide tutoring for Early Learning support, Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 English, Maths and General Science, Exam Preparation literacy and numeracy skills, GCSE/IGCSE Biology/Science, AS and A Level Biology and Higher Education/Adult Education Biology. I have tutored students engaged in many different courses including a Massage Course (Physiology and Anatomy), medical students (Imperial College-outstanding firsts!) and Nursing and Midwifery (Greenwich-98% Biology modules). With regular sessions, I have helped A level student achieve significant improvements in grades from AS to A level across AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam boards.
This year I have also helped final year KS2 students students achieve top marks allowing them to enter top sets for Maths and English in High School. I successfully helped a KS2 students studying the 11plus exam -passing the Bexley entrance exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I have found teaching to be most beneficial when I am working with my students on a one-to-one basis and small groups. This allows me to really understand what my students needs and tailor my tutoring and mentoring to this effect. I also find teaching with visual aids and innovative tools an effective method of teaching some aspects of science. Tutoring at this level builds trust and confidence in my students so they are able to work with me on the areas they need most. I believe this trust is important in progressing and obtaining the most out of tutoring.

Personal Description:
I am a 31-year old freelance journalist, born and raised in Germany. I have two Master's degrees, one in politics and one in digital journalism. Because of working in media & communications I am used to reviewing written text and highly aware of people's way of expressing themselves. I have a huge passion for languages and have learned Spanish for over 10 years now, including extensive stays in Spain, and I am perfectly fluent in English.

Teaching Experience:

Mostly 1 on 1 teaching and reviewing written texts over the last few years. Also, I taught a GCSE class in German at Royal Greenwich UTC for half a year. In addition, I have been teaching German at The Green Monkey School in Madrid for two years. My students have significantly improved in their skills and I prepared several people for their move to Germany.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer a natural approach to learning languages which means engaging in everyday conversations that help the speaker get used to the way they usually talk in a new environment. I also look precisely for mistakes in any kind of written work and take much care about correct grammar and spelling as I do in my own publications.

For politics in journalism I can also edit written work and talk through complex political and social processes which I have extensively analysed during my studies.

Personal Description:
I am a 19 year old student at the University of St Andrews who is studying International Relations. Previously, I have studied English Literature at both GCSE and A-Level, as well as English Language at GCSE. I have been an avid lover of literature and books for many years, and it led me to write book reviews for Waterstones, win creative writing awards out of hundreds of candidates, obtain an internship at an international charity whereby I wrote their weekly blogs, and most importantly it gave me the ability to teach others and share my passion. I have a particular interest in Shakespeare, poetry and literary fiction - all of which are elements seen within the syllabus at all levels of the subject.

Teaching Experience:

During COVID, I aided a disabled student on the subject of English during the quarantine, assisting him on both his schoolwork and reading outside of his curriculum.
I have previously tutored English as a holistic subject to a Primary School KS2 student for two years, following them from Year 5 to 6 in preparation for their SATs. She went on to do exceptionally well in her exams.
I am currently tutoring a Year 9, going onto Year 10, student in English Literature in preparation for their GCSE's. More specifically, I am assisting him on the Paper 4 play of Inspector Calls by J.B Priestley.

Tutoring Approach:

Before tutoring begins, I offer a 15 minute consultation where we may get to know each other and see if you believe I would be a good fit for your student. In this consultation I will ask questions surrounding your strengths and weaknesses in the subject, why you believe you need tutoring, and what in particular you struggle with. With this information in mind, I structure my lessons according to your needs.
During lessons, I combine technique, exam guidance and syllabus structure to ensure full marks and exam-level preparation, as well as prioritising the students thoughts on the text, prose or play, as ultimately English is not rigid nor is it objective.
Combining my in-depth experience in the subject and great passion for it, I am able to offer one-on-one, catered and specialised tutoring to each student to maximise their English learning experience and grades. My approach is ensuring the student is in a welcoming, fun and educational environment where they feel both comfortable and excited to learn about the subject.
