In the 2017 A-Level series I scored first in Northern Ireland for Religious Studies and second in Northern Ireland for Government & Politics. I can teach you the same study and exam techniques that enabled me to score highly in the CCEA GCSE and A-Level exams.

I have a Bachelor of Theology degree from Queen's University Belfast and a Master of Theology degree from the University of Aberdeen.

Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring since September 2017. I have tutored a mix of school pupils, homeschoolers and adult learners.

Tutoring Approach:
I start by explaining the concepts and then focus on past paper questions and exam technique. The specification for both Religious Studies and Government & Politics has not changed since 2016 so there is a decade's worth of past papers to learn from!

This coaching-based approach I take has proven highly successful. I approach each student and the sessions with an open mind to learn what I need to be of support.

Combining motivational coaching techniques, I offer a uniquely engaging, personally attuned service. The first lesson typically consists of a complimentary educational assessment (usually 30 minutes) to help identify key areas for improvement . All results can be shared with the parent/guardian. Based on this initial assessment, a 100% individual and tailored programme of learning is created. While encouraging the student to adopt high yet realistically achievable targets for their own education, I am also sensitive to the level of each student and what he or she is ready to adopt.

Having completed my first degree in French and German at Oxford University in June 2013, I returned to Belfast to complete first a MA in Medieval History, and then a further MA in Translation Studies.

At the same time, I began building up a portfolio career as a freelance tutor and translator, allowing me to live out my passion for language, literature, and culture (alongside digger manuals, pharmaceutical texts, and other oddities) on a daily basis.

This depends on whether the student needs support with the practical (coursework) side or the theory. With the theory, I often look through past papers with the student to establish common questions and work to get the most succinct and correct answer. With practical problems I would often set a smaller, simpler challenge related to the problem which can help the student understand, and then apply to their own coursework. I aim to make the students complete the challenges themselves as much as possible - it is not my intention to create solutions for coursework/assignments for students to use as their own. All work is done as a collaboration between myself and the student.

For online lessons, we can use Zoom or Skype. I use HSK textbooks (level 1-6) to custom make each lesson based on my students' needs. My approach for students studying Psychology at degree level depends on what is required. Most students require guidance with essays, reports, dissertations and write ups; I usually go through the assignment with the student giving valuable, detailed feedback on what can be improved and exactly how they can go about doing so. This can involve several redrafts until the work has been completed to the students' full potential.

I took my first steps in programming as long ago as 1981, and have been a professional software developer since 1987. I am a very experienced and highly successful secondary history teacher and have tutored many pupils privately, helping them gain top grades for GCSE & A Level.

Teaching Experience:
I am the Head of a History department in my current job and have worked in the independent sector for 14 years teaching history. I have extensive experience of preparing pupils for the A Level/International Baccalaureate/(I)GCSE examinations and have a very strong track record in delivering excellent exam results.

I am also a diploma qualified Teacher of English as a Second Language and previously worked for the British Council as a Senior Teacher. I am also an IELTS examiner and can teach IELTS preparation courses as well as IGCSE (ESL) and the Cambridge English exam courses.

Human Resource and Human Resource Management are the area of my expertise and this is something I am very passionate about. I thoroughly enjoy teaching this subject and I enjoy working with students at college and university level. I also teach business studies and its relationship to HRM at degree level.

Human Resource Management, Business Studies and Strategic Management Studies are the key areas of my experience. I have worked and taught in this subject area for over 35 years at University level. I thoroughly enjoy my subjects and i particularly love teaching university and college students.

I am a qualified and approved Chartered Member of the Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD). I am also a Fellow at the Royal Society for Arts (FRSA) and a Member of the Institute for Economic Management (MIED)
