Personal Description:
I'm a full-time professional maths tutor with thousands of hours of experience of providing effective 1-1 maths tuition. I have a Cambridge maths degree, an abiding love for maths and a passion to help students enjoy and master maths for themselves!

I teach A-level mathematics and further mathematics, including IB and Cambridge Pre-U. I also teach mature students, and university students requiring maths to support other degree subjects. I have prepared students for exams from all the major exam boards, including Edexcel, AQA, OCR, OCR-MEI, Cambridge Pre-U and IB. I also prepare students for STEP and MAT and for numeracy or numerical reasoning tests, including the numeracy skills test for prospective teachers.

Two of my three children have been through school and university and one is still at secondary school, so I have been engaged closely with the education system at all levels and understand what both students and parents are looking for to achieve academic success.

My family and I have lived in Cranleigh for over 20 years and I have connections with a number of local schools.

Teaching Experience:

I have thousands of hours of experience of providing 1-1 maths tuition. At peak times in the year I have more than 40 active students on my books.

Tutoring Approach:

More than almost any other subject, maths needs confidence to be built, and a patient, individually tailored approach. Able students may need practice to strengthen problem-solving and eliminate errors, a more joined-up view of maths to deepen their understanding, and challenge to stretch their capabilities. Others find A-level maths harder going, and an imaginative and pictorial approach with plenty of real world examples is needed to achieve that "penny drops" moment!

Depending on the student, tuition may include any or all of: coaching to consolidate (or anticipate) teaching at school; revision for examinations; working through past examination papers; teaching and testing of specific sections of the curriculum; or more free-wheeling exploration of mathematical topics. By agreement with students and parents, homework may be set and marked.

I'm available to teach at almost any time in the week, either on weekdays (daytime or evenings) or on Saturday mornings. Sunday is my day off! I'm happy to teach in my own home, or in students' homes in Cranleigh or up to 10 miles away in the surrounding area in Surrey and West Sussex, including Guildford, Horsham and Godalming. If teaching outside Cranleigh I may agree an additional charge for travel.

I offer effective and engaging A-level mathematics and further mathematics tuition. If you want to succeed in your exams and also to deepen your appreciation of mathematics and have fun, then get in touch!

Personal Description:
My name is Ann. I have a degree in French and German (2:1) and a Master's in European Literature. I have a PGCE post 16yrs teaching German to AS and A2 classes.

I have worked for English Language Schools both as a Tutor and in the marketing of courses to international students. I have co-ordinated a Language School University Placement Service. At Bournemouth University, I have worked as an Educational Access Assistant and provided lecture notes for a variety of students.

Overseas work experience includes a Stage at the European Commission carrying out research for the Consumer Policy Service.

I have tutored French and German since 2009 for academic agencies in Dorset.

More recently, I have taken the TEFL Academy's TEFL Course Level 5 and their short courses for tutoring 1-1 and for teaching yls and vyls (young and very young learners).

Teaching Experience:

To train for the PGCE I taught AS and A2 German classes as a trainee.

I have tutored French students preparing for university entrance exams for entrance to the Grandes Ecoles in Paris. I have also taught EFL to overseas business students and young adults.

Since 2009, I have worked as a Tutor of MFL and some EFL. I have taught French KS2, KS3 and GCSE to school students. I have taught German to young beginners and to KS2 and GCSE students. I have taught beginner French and German to adults.

Over the last two years, I have tutored primary EAL and young adult ESOL.

Tutoring Approach:

Recent tutoring has required close attention to the GCSE syllabus and the four skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Work done has covered the different topic areas alongside the grammar practice needed for the exam.

One-to-one tuition gives the student the opportunity to practise skills which is not always possible in large classes.

EAL learners here benefit from studying with the CambridgeEnglish resources. With ESOL learners, I use the Trinity College London's resources and test materials online.

Personal Description:
Deepening mathematical understanding: from building foundational basics to guiding exceptional talent to truly flourish.

I am a highly motivated and capable mathematics graduate of the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick working full-time as a maths tutor, teaching mostly A/AS Level, STEP, and MAT with some GCSE. I get along well with students using a friendly enthusiastic manner and patient guidance, allowing me to engage them in a subject that many (sadly) find difficult or tedious to deal with. I've had significant success helping students to see why this subject is exciting and beautiful as well as extremely useful. Passing a maths exam can be stressful and overwhelming at times. With my help a student can learn not just all the material they need, but also efficient, reliable and (most importantly) intuitive approaches to thinking about the topics/problems. Students often cite both my enthusiasm and clarity as having really benefited them. I really genuinely enjoy sharing the passion I have for maths with others, I have the best job in the world!

Additionally, if a student is looking to really excel to the highest level I also have extensive experience here. I have helped many students through challenging entrance exams, provided wider mathematical enrichments (e.g. mathematical history, computing theory, learning mathematics from around the world etc.), and even taught several child prodigies taking exams or going to university early. I'm very knowledgeable about a huge variety of advanced areas of mathematics, and will be able to have proper discussions far beyond the syllabus when children ask the deep philosophical questions that curious minds wonder about. I can put all of this into a broad mathematical context and get into proper depth about how mathematicians think and the meaning(s) of ideas, and the rich world of mathematics beyond rote memorisation at school.

Generally I'm flexible and time can be found on most days as this job is my sole focus. Let me know what times are good for you and I can see what fits in.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 5000 hours, spread across 9 years of experience tutoring in this area (and related, e.g. STEP papers, international baccalaureate, entrance exams, MAT, GMAT, maths challenge, adult learning, university lecture courses).

I can quote you some happy text messages that came after this year`s results (names removed):
