Personal Description:
I am a native French speaker, bilingual French/English, and am now teaching over Zoom.
I am married to an English lady and have a son.
In France, I passed my French baccalaureat.
I graduated and worked in the Health Service in France as deputy head of the department of a large hospital in Paris.
Then I moved to UK in 1996. In England, I achieved the HNC in Business, the AAT Accounting Technician as well as a Teaching qualification for Adult and Further Education whilst working as a bookkeeper part-time for various companies and teaching French to various groups on a casual basis.
I teach French over Zoom after work.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching, training, tutoring and coaching French to various levels for several years. I started with groups of adults in Further and Adult education and children in after-school clubs (Le Club Francais). I have been assistant teacher for teaching English to Speakers of other languages (ESOL) and Numeracy/maths coaching also. Then, I have trained students to gain scholarships; I have tutored many students to obtain their GCSE and A level French with good grades and am currently tutoring A Level students to help with their French grammar and their four exam skills and also university students in their second year.
I have classes of adults for conversational French. I helped adult for business French and for buying or selling their properties in France. I tutored a finance manager of a multinational company with branches in French speaking countries in both French and French accountancy and finance. And I help with translation of technical, legal and commercial French.
Lately, I am teaching French to adults and children over ZOOM, in the evenings after work.

Tutoring Approach:

Depending on the requirements, and the style of learning of my student, I tailor my tuition accordingly. I am patient, enthousiastic about my topic and helpful.
I favour a communicative approach and in a fun way if it is for casual learning, helping the student to understand and to use the language in different situations. This stimulates building up the vocabulary and the grammar. Grammar difficulties are studied and practised upon when necessary.
I teach Business French to enable a professional conversation, communication at board level or for selling or technical purposes. I can teach technical matters as well as legal matters.
If it is for conversation and travelling, this can be fun. I have a lot of resources.
I have a lot of resources for teaching children French and children classes are carried out through games, visual props, French songs and other children resources. I enjoyed leading after-school French classes and later taught children at different levels and young people to get their GCSE and A Level French.
If it is for exam preparation, I stick to the syllabus, and work on the 'four skills', I build up confidence, helping my student to practice what is needed and help them match the requirements of their exam board.
As to maths/numeracy for young children I help them to understand, gain confidence and perform the basic maths/numeracy skills using various resources.

Personal Description:
I am a 19 year old student at the University of St Andrews who is studying International Relations. Previously, I have studied English Literature at both GCSE and A-Level, as well as English Language at GCSE. I have been an avid lover of literature and books for many years, and it led me to write book reviews for Waterstones, win creative writing awards out of hundreds of candidates, obtain an internship at an international charity whereby I wrote their weekly blogs, and most importantly it gave me the ability to teach others and share my passion. I have a particular interest in Shakespeare, poetry and literary fiction - all of which are elements seen within the syllabus at all levels of the subject.

Teaching Experience:

During COVID, I aided a disabled student on the subject of English during the quarantine, assisting him on both his schoolwork and reading outside of his curriculum.
I have previously tutored English as a holistic subject to a Primary School KS2 student for two years, following them from Year 5 to 6 in preparation for their SATs. She went on to do exceptionally well in her exams.
I am currently tutoring a Year 9, going onto Year 10, student in English Literature in preparation for their GCSE's. More specifically, I am assisting him on the Paper 4 play of Inspector Calls by J.B Priestley.

Tutoring Approach:

Before tutoring begins, I offer a 15 minute consultation where we may get to know each other and see if you believe I would be a good fit for your student. In this consultation I will ask questions surrounding your strengths and weaknesses in the subject, why you believe you need tutoring, and what in particular you struggle with. With this information in mind, I structure my lessons according to your needs.
During lessons, I combine technique, exam guidance and syllabus structure to ensure full marks and exam-level preparation, as well as prioritising the students thoughts on the text, prose or play, as ultimately English is not rigid nor is it objective.
Combining my in-depth experience in the subject and great passion for it, I am able to offer one-on-one, catered and specialised tutoring to each student to maximise their English learning experience and grades. My approach is ensuring the student is in a welcoming, fun and educational environment where they feel both comfortable and excited to learn about the subject.
