Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher with 2 children. I've been teaching for over 20 years at a variety of schools within Hampshire and across the primary phase. I tutor mainly Maths and English and over the past 7 years I have successfully tutored children through their SAT's exams.

In addition to this I have been teaching adults at a local college since 2016. I teach Functional Skills Maths and English, conquering fears and supporting students to reach their potential. Daytime adult tuition is also available.

Teaching Experience:

I have a B'Ed (Hons) specialising in Religious and Theological studies and through my teaching career I have specialised in DT, Music and RE. I have knowledge of current teaching methods from Reception up to Year 6.
Having also taught adults for the past few years I have developed more teaching skills to break down the barriers to learning.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that everyone has their own way of learning and once this is known they can go far. Learning should be fun and relevant. Confidence is often a barrier to success. Improve confidence and success will follow.

Personal Description:
I pride myself on having a wide life experience before and after full-time teaching: joinery, company management, writing, piano tuning and renovation, to name but a few, all of which can be brought to teaching physics and putting science into a real life context.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching in Norfolk in 1995; teaching all three sciences to year 9, specializing in physics for years 10 and 11, and latterly, after moving to Cumbria in 2006, then Yorkshire in 2014, 'A' level physics. At various times I have also taught ICT and maths at GCSE; maths, computing and science at primary level as a primary/secondary liaison teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring depends entirely of the needs of the student. This might entail teaching memory and learning techniques, broadening understanding or putting physics into context, clarifying difficult concepts or simply boosting confidence. And always trying to inspire the student with the idea that physics seeks to explain some of the deepest mysteries of the universe.

Qualifications:
B.Sc (JointHonours) Physics/Astrophysics
PGCE

Personal Description:
Hi there! I am a student in Year 13 and am offering tutoring in Maths up to AS-level. I achieved 8A*s 4As at GCSE and also got the maximum grade in Additional Maths (A). I got 6As at AS level including Maths and Further Maths and am predicted 4A*s this year, in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. I am a friendly and very approachable person and really enjoy explaining mathematics to people, and I feel that if a student has a clear understanding of why certain formulae are used, and what the question is asking, then immediately performance improves because all of sudden "rote learning" is not needed!
I have also achieved Gold certificates in UK Mathematical Challenges and have represented my school in Maths competitions; in one of these we came 3rd out of 60!

Teaching Experience:

In many instances I have helped family and friends and they have suggested that I tutor! As I am a current student, I can relate to and resonate with any student my age or younger. I can explain concepts in a way in which many teachers with more experience may not be able to, this is evidenced by my many instances of helping my peers.

Tutoring Approach:

As I am studying myself, my sessions would consist of helping the client with their current work from school predominantly; this will help them immensely as all work they are doing is very closely tied into their syllabus. I will go through any areas of particular difficulty with care and clarity. I may be able to provide additional resources upon request. I love communicating with others and imparting my knowledge and get a real sense of enjoyment out of helping people. I truly believe I can explain things in a very clear manner and my main goal is to improve understanding of the content; only then can examination questions be tackled confidently and successfully. I am very sure that any student can improve their grade immensely through my help, and also, through their own effort and hard work.

Qualifications:
Maths GCSE A*
Additional Maths FSMQ A (maximum)
Maths AS A (maximum)
Further Maths AS A (maximum)

Personal Description:
I'm a 20 year old student currently in my first year of my mathematics degree at the University of Plymouth. I've always had an interest in maths and have found it a very intuative and creative subject. Many younger people are put off maths in their early stages of education simply due to the way that it is taught, I'll try my best to tailor my teaching towards what works best for you. A lot of maths comes down to practice however before you can practice you need to be taught the fundamentals, in my teaching methods I won't simply give you the answer but I'll try and guide you to how to get there so that next time you'll be able to methodically get there yourself. I have quite a relaxed teaching approach which means my tutees can be as comfortable around me as possible.

Teaching Experience:

I currently tutor 6 students and have tutored online for the past year, I have had good success with this and I'm really enjoying the process of helping others in their maths journey.

Tutoring Approach:

I have quite a relaxed approach to teaching, although work has to get done I believe in making my students as comfortable as possible so they can engage with me and not be scared about asking questions.

Qualifications:
Maths GCSE - 9
Maths A-level - A
