Personal Description:
I am a graduate of the Newcastle University BMus (Hons) Folk and Traditional Music where I specialised in Scottish traditional fiddle music. I am both an experienced teacher and performer, having performed at various festivals throughout the country. I am comfortable playing in a variety of musical styles and I am happy to tailor lessons to the interests of each individual pupil.

Teaching Experience:

During the past five years I have taught a range of age groups from young school pupils to adults in both one to one lessons and group settings. I have also had a great deal of experience teaching beginners, most recently the Bellingham Middle School Ceilidh Band. During my later years of school I assisted with a young children's string orchestra and also an intermediate traditional music group. As part of my degree I have studied different techniques of teaching traditional music within the community.

Tutoring Approach:

The initial lesson provides an opportunity for both myself and the pupil to discuss any past musical experiences and also understand what they wish to gain from future lessons. I plan my lessons around the interests of the pupil which in return allows them to get the most out of their lessons. Whilst I strongly believe that there are benefits to reading notation, I also teach by ear and am happy to focus on this if a pupil so wishes. I encourage my pupils to bring along any music they wish to learn in addition to their set pieces.

I offer hour long lessons, suggesting a starting point of half an hour for beginners. Groups lessons are possible.

Personal Description:
I'm a mathematics graduate currently travelling South America.

Teaching Experience:

I first started tutoring when I was 15 for a friend of my family and have continued tutoring ever since . I have taught all ages and abilities and thoroughly enjoy helping those who need it. I have also taught children that are far better than what is deemed normal for their age and this I find the most fulfilling!

Tutoring Approach:

I usually start by helping the person with their current assignments ( such as homework or projects) to gauge what level there are that and their understanding and from this I then find (or create) worksheets which will aid them in the areas they do not yet understand.

Personal Description:
I recently graduated from Imperial College London with First Class Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I've had a love for maths, physics and chemistry since I first started school (which is hard to believe for some I know but I hope I can change that). My hobbies include sports, art and music. I've volunteered with children at girlguides, drama workshops and sports camps between the ages of 8 and 13.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored primary school students online and have assisted in teaching up to A level concepts, mainly in maths and physics, at school.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that school is not always the best environment to learn as it's impossible to cater to every student and understand how they learn which is where I come in. I am predominantly a visual and kinetic learner therefore I understand the need to spend time with my student and figure out exactly the way in which they absorb information so learning becomes more fun than frustrating. I think patience is so important and so is making lessons as interactive as possible, not just pages upon pages of questions. However repetition is important for cementing the knowledge gained. I strive to create a supportive environment with a rewards structure to create a link between education and enjoyment.

Qualifications:
A* in A level (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Further Maths)
10A*s in GCSE with A in Additional Maths

Personal Description:
Deepening mathematical understanding: from building foundational basics to guiding exceptional talent to truly flourish.

I am a highly motivated and capable mathematics graduate of the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick working full-time as a maths tutor, teaching mostly A/AS Level, STEP, and MAT with some GCSE. I get along well with students using a friendly enthusiastic manner and patient guidance, allowing me to engage them in a subject that many (sadly) find difficult or tedious to deal with. I've had significant success helping students to see why this subject is exciting and beautiful as well as extremely useful. Passing a maths exam can be stressful and overwhelming at times. With my help a student can learn not just all the material they need, but also efficient, reliable and (most importantly) intuitive approaches to thinking about the topics/problems. Students often cite both my enthusiasm and clarity as having really benefited them. I really genuinely enjoy sharing the passion I have for maths with others, I have the best job in the world!

Additionally, if a student is looking to really excel to the highest level I also have extensive experience here. I have helped many students through challenging entrance exams, provided wider mathematical enrichments (e.g. mathematical history, computing theory, learning mathematics from around the world etc.), and even taught several child prodigies taking exams or going to university early. I'm very knowledgeable about a huge variety of advanced areas of mathematics, and will be able to have proper discussions far beyond the syllabus when children ask the deep philosophical questions that curious minds wonder about. I can put all of this into a broad mathematical context and get into proper depth about how mathematicians think and the meaning(s) of ideas, and the rich world of mathematics beyond rote memorisation at school.

Generally I'm flexible and time can be found on most days as this job is my sole focus. Let me know what times are good for you and I can see what fits in.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 5000 hours, spread across 9 years of experience tutoring in this area (and related, e.g. STEP papers, international baccalaureate, entrance exams, MAT, GMAT, maths challenge, adult learning, university lecture courses).

I can quote you some happy text messages that came after this year`s results (names removed):
