| Personal Description: Working as a sales director several years ago I one day realised that the only part of my work I really enjoyed was the training. As I had worked in different countries where the language for business was English I decided to become an English teacher and acquired a TESOL cert. It was quite tough to do as a native French speaker! My family and I finally decided to stay in the UK and I now teach French more often than English as a second language. I do not mind which I teach but I really enjoy helping others become more confident and competent in another language. |
Teaching Experience: Extensive experience teaching French "in company" for a language school in London. French after-school clubs. SCOLA (Sutton college for adult education) French tutor. Le Club Francais licensee. Tutoring all age groups, conversation classes. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that language is about communication first and knowledge second, so I like to work by encouraging the student to use what he or she knows rather than always try to learn more. The latter is of course necessary but generally I find that not enough practice time is given to students to consolidate their learning. Secondly, I try to adapt to the student, their learning style. I once got very good results (GCSE French "B") with a dislexic boy by reasoning that if he could speak English well there had to be a way he could do well in French. We talked a lot. |

| Personal Description: Professional, amiable and passionate Oxford educated teacher, with experience teaching at some of the best schools in London. A level Chemistry and GCSE Science/Mathematics tuition. Available daytime, evenings and weekends. Hello, my name is Christopher, I've taught Science and Mathematics for over 20 years, having previously taught Chemistry and Lower Science at Highgate School, North London, as well as Science and Mathematics at City of London School for Girls. I established a tuition business back in 2005, after graduating from Oxford University (Worcester College 2001 - 2005), with a Masters in Chemistry. |
Teaching Experience: I am a friendly, approachable Oxford educated teacher with over 20 years tutoring experience, comprising a mix of one-to-one tuition, teaching within small groups as well as larger classroom environments. I have extensive, detailed knowledge of all the major GCSE and A-level examination boards, with particular expertise in the OCR, Edexcel, CIE/Pre-U, WJEC and AQA syllabuses. I've taught A-level Chemistry and GCSE Science at Highgate School, North London, and both Chemistry and Mathematics at City of London School for Girls. I have experience teaching pupils affected with learning difficulties such as ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and those on the autistic spectrum. I also offer tuition for the BMAT and GAMSAT medical school entrance exams. Over the past decade, I have helped numerous students of school age (as well as mature students), with these difficult, niche tests, gain entry to their chosen medical school. Additionally, I offer bespoke coaching and mock interview practice for those applying to medical school and Oxbridge, including the preparation of a Personal Statement for the UCAS form (this being one of my designated roles at Highgate). Lastly, I have substantial experience preparing students for the 13+ (Common Entrance) and 16+ exams, with some of my previous cohort gaining entry to very prestigious schools in the U.K., such as Winchester College, Westminster School and City of London School for Girls (where I taught both Mathematics and Chemistry for over two years). Furthermore, I have been an examiner for these papers too. Trust when I say I have a deep understanding of what content goes into these tests; I've written the questions as well as marked them! 2024-2025 rate for all services: £65/hour A 120 minute session is charged at a reduced rate of £120. Terms: 24 hours notice is required in the event of a cancellation, otherwise full payment is required for the missed lesson. Full online tuition services are provided utilising whatever platform you wish - whether it be Zoom, Skype or Microsoft Teams. Online lessons are streamed in full HD using professional audio, visual and lighting equipment, ensuring your experience is as close as possible to in-person tuition. Furthermore, I utilise an electronic whiteboard, so you can take notes during the lesson and we can discuss problems in real-time. Lastly, practice questions, mark schemes and notes can be sent over instantly during the lesson. I have an extensive list of references from previously satisfied clients for your perusal - please get in touch and see my personal website and Google Business listing for more information. |
Tutoring Approach: I aim to get the very best out of students using a variety of teaching methods with a strong emphasis on exam technique. I have helped pupils of all ages and abilities both on a one-to-one basis as well as within small groups/large classroom environments. Every person is different, and every person has his/her own grasping ability whether at home or in school. With this in mind I am very flexible and adaptable in my approach to teaching, and endeavour to create a learning environment where the pupil can thrive. |

| Personal Description: I'm a Clinical Psychologist with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. My doctoral research used machine learning methods and a network approach to investigate treatment outcomes in psychological therapies for eating disorders, and this work has been published in a high-impact scientific journal. I have experience and knowledge spanning multiple areas of psychology and human biology, including scientific writing, research design and planning, inferential statistics, and applying psychological theory to real-world practice. I am passionate about data-driven approaches to researching treatment outcomes and enjoy sharing this enthusiasm with the students I tutor and mentor. I offer tutoring in human biology up to Highers/A-Level and Psychology up to Doctoral level. Whether you need support for your child in preparing for exams, help navigating undergraduate coursework and tricky statistics, or mentorship while writing your doctoral thesis, I would be delighted to help. |
Teaching Experience: I have been tutoring since 2014, working with students of all ages and abilities. I am particularly experienced in supporting students with specific learning difficulties and other forms of neurodivergence, adapting my teaching style and pace to suit each individual's needs. In addition to tutoring, I am experienced in providing mentorship to undergraduate and postgraduate students. This includes developing effective study skills, supporting dissertation and thesis planning and writing, and guiding aspiring psychologists through the application and interview process for the Clinical Psychology Doctorate (DClinPsy). |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is collaborative, structured, and tailored to the individual. I believe that effective learning happens when students feel supported, understood, and appropriately challenged. I take time to understand each student's goals, strengths, and areas for development so that sessions are purposeful and aligned with their needs. Drawing on my background in psychology, I use evidence-based learning strategies to strengthen understanding, critical thinking, and long-term retention of material. I aim not only to help students master content but also to develop their confidence, independence, and academic skills. I adapt my teaching style and pace depending on the student, whether that means breaking down complex statistical concepts into manageable steps, refining academic writing through structured feedback, or building exam technique through guided practice. For students with specific learning difficulties or neurodivergence, I incorporate strategies that support organisation, processing, and confidence. Ultimately, my goal is to create a supportive and motivating learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, think critically, and reach their full potential. |
