Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher. I have obtained my Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in French and Spanish, from King's College, London in June 2006.

Currently teaching in an independent school for boys in London, I am a native speaker and have been teaching secondary languages for over 15 years in both state maintained and independent sector.

I am also an Edexcel GCSE/IGCSE examiner and know the inside outs of the French GCSE expectations. I have taught the AQA syllabus too, as well as A level French (Edexcel and AQA).
This is an exciting opportunity for me to tutor motivated students and help them achieve their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for several years, have had the opportunity to work in leading independent schools (Saint Paul's boys School; Lycée Français Charles De Gaulle (French Lycée), City of London school), and in the state maintained sector.

I am very familiar with common entrance examination requirements and experienced in preparing students to pass such selective entrance tests..
My experience as a MFL teacher provides learners with the best and most adequate support to meet the GCSE and A level requirements and pass with flying colours!

Tutoring Approach:

My most relevant skills are:
 An in-depth knowledge of French grammar, literature and culture gained from my own education and experience in France as a native speaker.

 Experience of preparing groups of pupils for their French A-level.
 A track-record of preparing pupils successfully for exams (GCSE and A-level).

 Experience of planning, preparing and delivering good quality lessons with a variety of resources, responding to the range of learning skills and abilities.
 Knowledge of the new examination requirements for language examinations at A-Level.

 Experience of tutoring pupils who are having difficulties in developing their language skills or assimilating new knowledge to enable them to overcome these and achieve high academic results.

I am confident that I can be an asset to your examination preparation/ languages learning.

Personal Description:
COVID-SECURE. TAILOR-MADE TUTORING TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS, HALF-TERM AND BEYOND. SPECIALISM IN HELPING CHILDREN CATCH UP. PLEASE CONTACT FOR DETAILS.

I am an experienced Private Tutor with a proven track record of increasing my tutees' National Curriculum levels in a short space of time, and helping all tutees improve their literacy in general. In addition to tutoring, I am self-employed as a Writer and Script Editor in film and television. I am friendly, professional and extremely good at what I do: I often receive new tutees through recommendations made by past and current tutees and parents.

Teaching Experience:

I am highly experienced in teaching Key Stages 1 to 4 (Reception, Primary, Lower Secondary and GCSE). I have taught adults in the areas of English Literacy, Grammar, Conversation and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). I am very familiar with the requirements for key exams such as the SATS (Years 2, 6 and 9) and the 11+ (English), and other specialist examinations, for example, Exdecel iGCSE, Open University English / Media courses and others.

For adults, I offer lessons that focus on learning for practical and realistic purposes i.e. improving reading, writing and communication skills for work. For those learning English as a foreign language, I offer lessons in essential grammar and conversation.

I also teach Creative Writing (plays, short stories, novels and film/TV scripts).

I have tutored individually and in a classroom context. I spent a summer teaching English Language and Literature at a private school in San Francisco to pupils aged 6-14 years. My aim was to make learning English fun and rewarding - I used traditional as well as non-traditional methods, such as having the 6 year olds close their eyes while I read a Wordsworth poem and having them draw the images that came to their minds. I taught poetic metre and rhythm by having them dance and clap. At the end of my time there, my 7 year olds put on a production of Romeo and Juliet which I had adapted for them. The entire experience was extremely rewarding and made me see how much I love to teach.

I work especially well with those for whom English is not their first language, children who have learning difficulties or difficulty concentrating and tutees/families from diverse ethnic backgrounds.

Tutoring Approach:

My unique approach:

* Tailored tutoring - identifying and tackling individual strengths and weaknesses
* Tutoring that enables students to think for themselves and more likely to achieve the highest grades (A* - B), rather than just a pass
* Making reading interesting and enjoyable as a valuable life skill
* Sensitive, compassionate, honest and professional.

I tailor my lessons according to the tutee's individual needs. In the first session, I will always carry out an assessment of current levels including reading comprehension, writing, speaking, listening and general literacy (spelling, punctuation, tenses, prepositions etc). I will then design a programme of lessons to tackle weaknesses with a clear objective in mind. For children, this will be done in consultation with the parent(s). I provide feedback as lessons progress.

I can use fun and creative methods or a more traditional style. Often - especially with children - I will use a combination of both, with grammar 'top-ups' as and when required.

As a writer and teacher, I am passionate about reading, words and the correct use of language. I believe that, equipped with the right tools, reading and writing has the ability to enrich and further understanding of ourselves and the world. This is the approach I use in my lessons: I believe tutees connect with my methods in a way that makes learning English interesting and rewarding.

By the end of my sessions I hope my tutees will leave not only with an excellent understanding of what they have to study, but with a richer experience of reading and writing because these are life skills required in virtually every area of our lives and something that will last forever.

Personal Description:
Morning and afternoon sessions available during weekdays for home schoolers!

I am a fully qualified Primary School Teacher with 30 years experience. I am committed to helping children to achieve their full potential in becoming well rounded, happy individuals who are independent learners. I believe children become successful learners when they are given the right tools for the job. The most important of these tools is confidence in their own ability! I am friendly, approachable and reliable.

Teaching Experience:

I have vast and recent experience of teaching at primary schools at Foundation Stage, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. I have supported children with a variety of conditions such as ADHD, ADD and ASD. I have prepared children for the Year One Phonics Screening, the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check and for Year 6 SATs. I have a full and detailed knowledge of the National Curriculum.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is flexible and centred around the hopes and aims of the child and their carer. I offer a bespoke curriculum tailored to the needs of the individual child. During our first session I will take the time to get to know you and your child. I will build up a picture of your child's interests, strengths, and also try to identify areas where they feel less confident. There will be some short assessment tasks to complete during this session. These will be delivered as activities and games and not as tests! Then we will discuss possible next steps and objectives. I will use all this information to develop your child's individual scheme of work. This learning path is adaptable and can be changed and modified to suit your child's ongoing progress.
Thank you for reading my profile.
