| Personal Description: I am a Modern Foreign Languages teacher and am incredibly diligent, organised and devoted to promoting a love of language learning as well as a desire to ensure GCSE students achieve their very best in exams. As a teacher and AQA examiner, I have access to past papers as well as having built up a wide range of teaching resources with which to teach. I am associated with a school wherein Edexcel and AQA are the examining body for Modern Foreign Languages although this does not hinder me as a prospective tutor for those studying under WJEC or alternative examining bodies. I have also tutored students sitting the I-GCSE with outstanding success rate. I believe my skillset, experience in teaching it and association with the examination board makes me a sound investment for any student wishing for the extra support as they approach the final months of their GCSE. As an avid believer that when on holiday, one should speak in the "language of the locals", I am passionate about providing holiday conversational skills to adults. |
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching Modern Foreign Languages since 2012 to GCSE and have been head of department in that time. Within my teaching practice, I have had experience of teaching across all levels and abilities from the 11-18 age range in secondary school. |
Tutoring Approach: My tutoring sessions are individually tailored based on the need of the tutee. For GCSE students, sessions usually focus on the key skills of language learning which are listening, reading, speaking and writing, whereas for adult learners, more emphasis is placed on the spoken language and listening comprehension. My sessions aim to engage, interact and interest the learner as much as possible. Above all, I feel it important to instil confidence in the learner. |

| Personal Description: I have taught for over ten years, I have taught a range of ages and learning styles including students with sight and hearing difficulties as well as those with learning difficulties. I am outgoing and friendly, I am able to communicate easily and with success to a broad audience base. students seem to respond favourably to my lessons and all tutees have progressed to attain their personal goals. I love theatre, cooking and reading. I also want to keep chickens! |
Teaching Experience: as a dyslexic my self I have sought to engage at a deeper level with my students so they can see clearly how to achieve their goals. I have taught in schools , in units, in special schools and colleges, so have worked with a rainbow of students and so can think clearly how to alter and adapt my teaching style and resources to enable the student. I have lived in Cities and in rural locations so am aware of the joys and difficulties the situation can impact on a learner. I have taught in inner city Bristol with a variety of cultures and ethnic backgrounds as well as a range of first languages. I have also taught in Devon where the school is comprised of students whom not only themselves but all their forebears have lived only in this place. I create my own resources to stretch and support learning. I am able to give clear and enabling feedback. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe it is innate in all to explore and learn, as a teacher I must find the key to the students curiosity to help them understand their strengths and so progress. I work at the students pace, pulling them further and higher to achieve. I will adapt my resources to enable the student to engage. |

| Personal Description: I am a teacher, novelist, and musician from Scotland. I have tutored for many years and taught at preparatory schools. I have also taught English abroad (Italy & Brazil). I enjoy helping students to overcome their difficulties and find ways to enjoy the language and culture. Lessons at my house or yours. Online tutoring is a great way to work on your language (rates negotiable). |
Teaching Experience: 12 years with First Tutors, from beginners, through Common Entrance, GCSE and A-level to university. 6 years with Greater London Tutorial Agency/Top Tutors Latin, Ancient Greek & English: 6 years Classics, Mayville High School, Southsea 12 years Classics, Hall Grove, Bagshot. 1 year at Academy School, Hampstead. Creative Writing: 7 years University of Portsmouth 2 years Islington Summer University. English as Foreign Language: 1 year St Giles, Sao Paulo, Brazil; 2 years English Academy, Molfetta, Italy, including PET, CAE, CPE, IELTS, TOEFL. I also teach guitar, bass, piano and Italian. |
Tutoring Approach: Most pupils who come to me have simply lost track or lost confidence. With careful guidance, it usually doesn't take long to put them back on the right track. I can help with the building blocks of grammar, presenting it as a puzzle or a game; I can suggest ways to improve vocabulary; and I can point the way through the complexities of translation and syntax. Even working on exam technique can ease anxiety quickly. I also enjoy enthusing students about classical mythology and literature. I am happy to teach online as well as in person: with a committed tutee, this can work as well as tuition in person. |

| Personal Description: I am a Maths and Physics teacher and have been for nearly 40 years in both secondary and further education. I am very enthusiastic about the subjects I teach and enjoy helping my tutees to understand and progress. Both Maths and Physics are difficult for most people and it is a privilege to be able to explain ideas in these subjects in such a way that students can understand at whatever level they are working at. I have been a keen amateur astronomer for all of my life and I am still in awe at the mysteries of the universe when I am looking through a telescope. |
Teaching Experience: 10 years teaching Maths GCSE/A level in secondary education 30 years teaching Maths/Physics/Computing in further education I have taught Maths and Physics for a wide range of examination boards and have taught one to one tuition to pupils from the age of 10 to A level and some undergraduate work in Maths, Physics and Engineering. I have prepared mature students for numeracy exams in order to gain entry into a teaching course or the armed services. |
Tutoring Approach: I am patient, friendly, enthusiastic and methodical in my approach to tutoring and try to instil confidence in my tutees as quickly as possible. I am flexible in my teaching methods and adapt my pace of delivery to the needs and ability of my tutees. I am happy to work with the tutee to explain and reinforce the ideas behind the current topics that they are studying in school or college so they are able to keep up with their classwork. One of the worst fears amongst students especially in Maths is falling behind the rest of their peer group and not understanding the work as well as everyone else. When I am satisfied that my tutee is able to cope with their current work, I will revise topics to prepare them for tests and exams. Both Maths and Physics require development of skills that constantly need practice. When it is close to tests or exams I will focus on exam questions so that tutees are aware of the standard required for the grade they are aiming to achieve. For my online lessons, I am happy to arrange an initial free meeting with you to introduce the Groupworld whiteboard environment which I use for my teaching and to discuss what strategies I will employ to help you achieve your goals. There is absolutely no commitment after this initial session but hopefully it will match your expectations and we can arrange further lessons to give you the support that you need. |
