Personal Description: The opportunity to teach both my Technical craft and Autocad has arisen more by accident than design for most of my Professional career. I am led to believe that I have a natural ability in engaging interest, particularly in younger people through a combination of both my communication skills and technical ability. This produces immediate rewards in contrast to the often lengthy process of Project work which can easily dilute job satisfaction. I believe a fundamental part of Teaching is the ability to speak the language of the pupil - more esoteric now than ever before. Understanding and respecting their language and culture enhances the learning process and contributes to mutual satisfaction and success. |
Teaching Experience: In the 1970's and 80's my employers ; Bain, Swan Architects had a healthy Apprenticeship policy. Throughout this period, they recruited locally in conjunction with colleges in Galashiels and Ashington. I was asked if I would consider mentoring the Office's Apprentice Technicians due to my apparent communication skills and technical ability. I enjoyed this auxiliary role, particularly, as it frequently engaged me in improving my own technical education to answer their endless questions. The tuition procedure had the additional benefit of enhancing the Practice's hand-drawn presentation work through educating the apprentices in the provision of accurate, informative and harmonious drawings. This was a flair which I had developed over the years in pre-computer times and employ to this day whenever possible, despite the icy perfections of Autocad. Working in London in the late 1990's I was invited to teach many aspects of my craft in to JJA Academy pupils in night classes. These were generally foreign students to whom I provided additional Autocad tuition, hand drafting techniques and Installation construction. I discovered that the judicious use of sketches and diagrams easily demolished any language barriers. Encouraged by the senior lecturers my confidence developed in this supplementary role. With Wintersgill Faulkner in 1999 I was invited to create and teach a dedicated layering system in Autocad to improve the Practice's presentation output. The younger members of staff had a fairly haphazard approach to defining different materials which made their work difficult to read both on-screen and on the plotted drawings - even if it was generally correct. The principle I employed was based upon the old British Standard conventions for : colouring drawings, hatching and line density. It is rewarding to know that the same CTB file is still their standard office practice 10 years later. By word of mouth I have taught basic 2D Autocad to several private pupils during the last 10 year period, one of whom currently has a Technical practice in Bury St. Edmunds |
Tutoring Approach: Hello - I am offering tuition services to anyone seeking a career in any aspect of Architecture or Building Construction. 35 years experience in the profession - with a full portfolio of technical and design drawings available to support this - accompanied by a comprehensive CV. describing the experience. Personal Description: I have a First Class Honours in BSc Mathematics and currently work within Investment Banking in the City of London. I have also taken professional exams. I have recieved 90% and above in many of my modules at university. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and have assisted many students in the time I have been tutoring reach their potential. |
Teaching Experience: I spent several hours a week tutoring my sister who obtained all A*'s at A-Level in Mathematics and Further Mathematics and is currently studying Mathematics at UCL. I have mentored several students in preparation for their GCSE examinations in History, Art, English, Mathematics and Science whereby they have gone onto to achieve top grades (A/A* grades). In addition to the traditional subjects, I am well equipped to tutor GCSE Fine Art having achieved 100% in my GCSE. During the course of my A levels and University, I have assisted many pupils within my educational establishment in their core modules of Mathematics. Since I have recently graduated with a first class honours degree in BSc Mathematics, from a reputable London university, I feel that I am well suited to tutoring students in Mathematics, in particular. References/Feedback from tutees Shilpa, Ealing, GCSEs (2021) 'I always look forward to the tuition lessons. She is a confident and pleasant tutor who has a strong and deep rooted knowledge of her subjects.' Sarah's mother, Hounslow, A-Levels (2023) 'She was punctual and friendly. Moreover, she went above and beyond to help my daughter succeed in Mathematics and Chemistry improving her grades in these subjects from a C/D to an A* in a short space of time.' Alexander, Richmond, A-Levels (2021) 'She is a top level tutor with exceptional knowledge. The tuition sessions really helped with my understanding of Mathematics.' Neha, Ealing, A-Levels (2020-2021) 'She has really helped me achieve my potential within Mathematics, by instilling ground level confidence. Her knowledge of the subject is second to none. As a result of the tuition sessions with her, I achieved A*s in GCSE Mathematics and Further Mathematics and I am on course to achieve A/A* in A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. I would like to highlight that there are not many tutors with a First Class Honours in a Mathematics degree let alone female tutors; I would highly recommend her!' Alex, Harrow, A-Levels (2022) 'Sonal has helped build my confidence in my own academic abilities and her advise and coaching in Mathematics has been second to none. I improved from a C grade to an A in Mathematics with her help and I am now going onto pursue a Mathematics degree. I would have never been able to do this without her help.' Krupa, Wembley, A-Levels (2019) 'She has an exceptional ability to make difficult concepts easier to understand and has instilled so much confidence in me in Mathematics. When I met Sonal I was struggling with basic concepts and now I am oncourse to receive an A in A-Level mathematics.' |
Tutoring Approach: - Having completed my A levels and University not so long ago, I am able to relate to the problems which an average student may be faced with. I am aware that students are put off at the instance where they are faced with a mathematical problem; I work to instil confidence in my students. - I have a systematic approach to problem solving - I focus on the applications which theories have to the modern world in an attempt to help develop a genuine interest for the subject, as well as to help with the student's understanding of that subject area. - It is in the best interest of the student to highlight particular areas of weakness so these can be addressed before beginning vigorous exam preparation. - I allow for a sufficient amount of time for exam preparation to give my students enough time to go through examination papers and to revisit theory, if necessary. *I am currently offering booster sessions online for students who have fallen behind in their studies and need to consolidate areas which are unclear. * |

Personal Description: My parents came from Sierra Leone in West Africa. I was born in BALHAM, SOUTH LONDON and educated at Salford and Cardiff universities. Inspite of early academic failures at A level, I eventually obtained my PhD by God's grace and started my academic career at Bath university as a lecturer in medicinal chemistry after postdoctoral studies at Duke University, USA. |
Teaching Experience: i. Lecturer, School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, University of Bath, Bath, BA2 7AY, United Kingdom. (1990-1995) ii. Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy, University Kebangsaan Malaysia, 50300 Kuala Lumpur. (1997-2001) iii. Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Medicine, Science and Applied Science, Department of Pharmacy, Sedaya International College, Cheras, 56100 Kuala Lumpur. (2001-2003) iv. Associate Professor, Chemistry Department, University of Malaya. (2003-2013) v. Full Professor, Chemistry Department, University of Malaya (2013 to 2017). I joined the teaching staff at the Methodist College in Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) and taught general chemistry ( organic, inorganic and physical) on the American Degree Transfer program (ADTP, which bears some similarity to A level chemistry) from 2017 to December 2021. I had tutored GCSE and A level students before privately but at MCKL I was teaching pre-university students full time. The experience was invaluable and I was pleased that I received consistently very good student evaluations. |
Tutoring Approach: I had the great good fortune to meet a few inspiring teachers/tutors who never gave up on me even during periods in the academic wilderness. This has made a considerable impression on me and as a result, I never give up on anyone. I hope to ensure that I teach in a way that encourages students to think, to enjoy working through problems and assessing their scientific, cultural and ethical implications. |
