Personal Description:
I have been a fully qualified and practising teacher of 17 years continuous full time employment. I am very passionate about teaching. In particular, with students who have the desire to achieve. I started private tuition when I was at university, when I had no intention of becoming a teacher. The experience I got from seeing my students achieving their goals was invaluable and a major factor in making my decision to start teaching. It is this same satisfaction of seeing students achieve that makes me continue to tutor many years after starting my teaching career.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified teacher and have been teaching Keystage 3, 4 in all sciences as well as Keystage 5 in Chemistry since 2006. I specialise in AQA examining board but can adapt easily to any of the alternatives. I was Senior Lead teacher in Chemistry and head of key stage 5 for chemistry for 9 years before switching schools.

Tutoring Approach:

Quite often, students who need private tutoring really need pointing in the right direction. I concentrate on firstly, raising a students confidence level in their ability and secondly concentrating on necessary requirements to pass their exams. I have considerable years of teaching and have held positions of responsibility for the curriculum at all keystages from ages 11-19 I am also an examiner for AQA A- Level chemistry so I really know what the exam board is looking for.
Innovative ways of remembering and applying knowledge are my forte.

Personal Description:
I am an A level English teacher with ten years' experience in sixth form colleges, and I currently work at Peter Symonds College in Winchester. I had some maternity cover on my timetable this year, and that's just ended, so I've got some time for tutoring.

My degree was in English Literature but since teaching English Language A-level in my first job, I've become very interested in linguistics, and recently worked at the Survey of English Usage at University College London (for some reason this site won't let me post a URL but you can hear me asking Professor Bas Aarts grammar questions on the EngliciousUCL soundcloud).

I have written articles on The Handmaid's Tale and the work of Cormac McCarthy for emagazine (the English & Media Centre's A-level publication), and my article on the role of the visual imagination in reading is in December's edition. I have also written other pieces of journalism for national publications.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English Literature, English Language and the joint English Language & Literature course on a range of specifications, as well as GCSE English Language and the Extended Project (in Creative Writing). My first job in education was as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, so I am used to adjusting my approach to suit different levels(!). Several of my former students are now English teachers and one is currently on the Forensic Linguistics MA at Aston University.

Tutoring Approach:

It's important to have an initial discussion to establish what you want from tutoring and assess where you are so we can decide what will be most useful to cover. I'm experienced and friendly and I try to make lessons as enjoyable as possible (esepcially with technical language terminology, which can otherwise be dry).

At the moment it obviously seems like remote lessons are necessary but usually I think in-person sessions work much better.

Qualifications:
BA English Literature (University of Warwick)
Post-compulsory PGCE (University of Greenwich)
MA Radio (Goldsmiths, University of London)

Personal Description:
Bonjour ! I am French native speaker fully qualified to teach French in secondary school. I have a wide range of experience in teaching from nursery to secondary settings, as I have also a master in education in France to teach primary and nursery children.

Five years ago, I decided to move to Scotland where I started as a nursery practitioner in Edinburgh: my enjoyment of teaching my native language encouraged me to get the full qualification to be able to improve my teaching practice and to teach French at different level and range of students.

I love travelling with my lovely dog Alba , as I recently cycled with her from France to Crete !

Teaching Experience:

I have done several placements in primary and nursery schools in France during my master of education. Then I've worked as a tutor and a school supervisor in a high school in France during a year.

After moving in Scotland , I was a nursery practitioner and I have since 2020 a PGDE in Modern languages French. I worked 3 years as a French teacher in High schools and Last summer I decided to go exploring Europe for a year.

I also have experience in Tutoring , as I have four years of experience Teaching French online.

According to my students, I am enthusiastic, patient and supportive !

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor the lessons to your needs and wishes. I have an "activity based" and a "communicative" approach, which make you learn a language through discussions and what interests you most but it could also be games, challenges, debates, recipe, studying films and books if you wish !

First of all , we will have a conversation to getting to know you better, where I could evaluate your level and what do you wish to work on the different skills to learn a language according to your needs and your goals:
- Speaking: the best way to learn a language , with different topics you are interested in, using videos, films, musics, art, books, articles, etc…
- Listening and Reading to work on your pronunciation and your understanding using as many materials as you need: musics, news, films, texts etc...
- Writing, on subjects according to your goals, to work on your grammar and vocabulary. You can choose to work on specific points with exercises or also by having fun with games and challenges , there is so many different ways to learn a language!

I am qualified and have the experience to work with children and adults at any level , as to prepare any exams in National 5, Highers, Advanced Highers, GCSEs, AS and A levels.

Qualifications:
Master of education in primary and nursery schools
PGDE French
