Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher with qualified teachers status, who has taught in England and abroad. I have been helping children build up the gaps in their learning level since 1994. I am able to discover various learning styles to help children improve their learning. I am currently a supply teacher teaching in Hertfordshire and in Luton. Due to my vast Experience in teaching in various schools as a supply teacher I have an in depth knowledge of the national curriculum for maths and English for key stage 1 and 2 , from years reception to year 6 and have always received positive feedback from students parents. I am a mother of two teenage boys. i now only have tuition sessions in my home. so if you are willing to travel to me i am happy to help .

Teaching Experience:

I have a BA.Ed from abroad and soon after graduation I taught English and literature for two years in a secondary school(year 8 and 9). In 2005 after I gained my PGCE primary and have been teaching in primary schools since then. , covering years 1 to 6 in various schools in london . I now teach in stevenage and surrounding towns. I have been a supply teacher and Tutor for over 12 years .

Tutoring Approach:

when teaching children on a one to one basis, I usually start by giving them a general assessment on their reading and problem solving skills. After this I am able to plan for each child on an individual basis on how to help them improve their levels and fill gaps in their learning. Due to the large number of students that i help i am not able to travel to children any longer so children come to my home for tuition but only in special circumstances do i travel to a child's home on Sundays . I normally teach the children for an hour and then give them homework for further skill practice. I also help children and parents draw up a reading and learning timetable which is very easy to follow, this has proven to be very effective in the past, in helping children become independent learners. My approach is to be friendly but professional and help children relax in order to enjoy learning.

Personal Description:
I finished my postgraduate study at the University of Birmingham in Dec 2018. I had stayed in UK for more than a year. I really love UK. The time when I was living in UK left me a great and impressive memory.

Now I have returned to China, I would like to keep contact with British people, and continue tutoring online. There are 7 or 8 hours time difference between UK and China. Therefore, someone who are interested in learning Chinese/Mandarin, or want to know the culture of China, or want to improve your Maths, please leave me a message. I will do my best to be a good tutor and also a good international friend of you.

In particular, for those who are interested in tutoring English, we can tutor each other for free.

Teaching Experience:

I was a volunteer teacher when I was an undergraduate student in China. It was in a countryside school of Hunan province. I went there with my schoolmates in a summer holiday. I taught students mathematics and introduced interesting things in the university to them. Although time passed fast, we had wonderful time together. Importantly, children and teenagers learned something from me, which is unforgettable in their life and is meaningful to me as well.

I had an experience of tutoring two junior school students for Maths of IGCSE when I was in UK. It lasted over two months. During that time I helped them make big progresses in their studies. I also gain friendship from their families which will last forever.

I had also tutored Mandarin for two kids in the UK after finishing IGCSE tutoring. It was easier for me to tutor language compared to Maths. I enjoyed the time when I spent with those two cute kids.

Tutoring Approach:

I would prepare for the lessons very well before tutoring.
Using an everyday language, make knowledge clear and easy to understand.
Develop student's interest step by step.
Providing good examples.
Give suggestions of study.
etc.

About me:

A friendly, patient and passionate tutor with +10 years maths tutoring experience, dedicated to going the extra mile to help learners build exam confidence and improve grades.

Academic Background

My background is in Mathematics and Education. I studied BSc Mathematics at Heriot-Watt University and then graduated with BA Education with a specialism in Numeracy at University of Stirling, which has led me into tutoring mathematics.

My tutoring experience

I am from the Bishopbriggs area and a former Bishopbriggs Academy student. I have been tutoring mathematics for +10 years, supporting primary and secondary students of all ages, both in-person and online across many parts of Glasgow such as the East Dunbartonshire Area: Bishopbriggs, Lenzie, Kirkintilloch, Bearsden, Milngavie and the Robroyston. Additionally, I have also tutored in areas outside of the East Dunbartonshire Area such as many parts of North Lanarkshire and Glasgow City Council, tutoring pupils all over different parts of Glasgow. I can tutor at any location. I have tutored at pupil's homes, my own and even online, if distance is an issue. I am more than willing to travel to other parts of Glasgow to provide the support where it is needed.

Extra about my services - Online Tutoring

Lastly, if distance is an issue, the option for online tutoring is available. The online lessons are easy to arrange, set-up and easy-to-use. The programme I use has all the necessary features for online teaching and free. I will also provide the necessary information to guide you through the process, if needs be. More information on this will be given upon request.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience in schools

I have also previously worked in numerous primary and secondary schools for many years across the East Dunbartonshire - Bishopbriggs and Kirkintilloch/ Lenzie and North Lanarkshire in the Cumbernauld area. This experience has allowed me to be familiar with all levels of the school curriculum, assessments and exam topics, exam procedures and SQA marking scheme.

Student feedback

Over the years, I have consistently received overwhelming positive feedback from numerous students and parents, expressing their satisfaction in how much they liked my support in improving pupil's grades, confidence and exam performance. Previous pupils and parents have commonly said: "I like the way you explain things", "I find it easier to understand maths", "I feel more confident in maths", "she is more confident in maths", "I like the feedback in their progress" and "you have been very supportive". This has inspired me to continually and actively dedicate and provide my services to supporting pupils all over Glasgow.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching Approach

I adopt a direct, systematic, step-by-step teaching approach, where lessons are structured in a way that makes maths easy to understand. In my lessons, I focus on identifying areas pupils commonly have difficulty with, fill in gaps in knowledge, reinforced with ample practice questions and then progressing to past-paper level questions. I believe that the more you practice, the more confident you will become. This allows pupils to go into exams with confidence.

What will you get out of the lessons?

1. A structured, step-by-step teaching approach so lessons are clear and easy to understand with consistent updates on learner progress.

2. Lessons will cover all maths topics but will prioritise specific areas the pupils have difficulty with or wish to focus on to ensure a strong mathematics foundation.

3. Provide homework & assignment support, guidance with classwork, exam preparation and past-paper practice.

4. Past-paper revision techniques and plenty of exam practice so pupils can feel confident going into the exam.

5. Recommendations of any books and teaching resources for exam practice will be provided.

If you have any queries please feel free to contact me via email or phone. I'd be delighted to answer any questions. I look forward to working with you. Thank you.

Alexander
