Personal Description:
My name is Rebecca. I am a graduate in French and History from Queen's University, who is from and living in Belfast. Following my BA, I studied for an MA in Translation at the same university and received a pass with distinction. This allowed me to deepen my knowledge and understanding of French, a language I love and am passionate about. I have been using my French in my every day work for the last 5+ years.

Teaching Experience:

During my undergraduate degree I taught English as a Foreign Language to French high school and college students. This ranged from small groups (2-3 people) to larger groups of 15. I taught these groups independently from their normal classes and had autonomy over planning and teaching my lessons. In my current job I mentor trainees (mainly university students or recent graduates) on 3 to 6 month internships. This involves a lot of one-on-one work, training & teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I have various approaches and styles and I like to help people learn. My main goal is to ensure that they will go away with a better understanding of their subject while also learning how to retain knowledge and apply it, analyse and think independently in future situations where they might need to do so. I am willing to adapt my style to individual students.

Qualifications:
MA in Translation Studies (Distinction)
BA in French and Modern History (2:1)
Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
OCN Level 4 in Community Interpreting

Personal Description:
Adobe Certified Expert | MSc, BA | Multidisciplinary Digital Artist & Educator
I have 15 years of working experience in Design, Photography, Virtual Production and Media, allowing me to maintain a wide variety of skills that assist in supporting students and professionals involved in the Creative industries. Currently, I'm doing freelance work, tutoring, researching, and teaching MSc Design at the University of Edinburgh.
Since 2015 I've continuously been one of the very few Adobe Certified Instructors and Experts. Because of my comprehensive knowledge of Adobe techniques and digital media theory, I received a series of certifications from Adobe, such as Educator Specialist in Visual and Video Design, Digital Imaging and Digital Creativity Expert for classrooms, Expert in Digital Media and Creativity Training and Adobe Education Trainer, accrediting me to train other educators.
I have achieved an MSc in Design and Digital Media (with distinction) from the University of Edinburgh, where I chose to work with 3D, Motion Graphics, VFX, UI/UX, Video Game Design and AR/VR. I specialised in VR experiences made with Unreal Engine and particle systems. I have also achieved a 1:1 BA (Hons) focused on Photography and Audiovisual Arts, where I had the opportunity to experiment with different forms of visual and digital art whilst specialising in Architecture Photography and Image Editing. Moreover, I hold a Digital Photography certificate from the University of Harvard.

Teaching Experience:

Since I started teaching in 2013, I have taught other educators, art directors, creative professionals but also students of all ages (5 to 75!) and abilities, including individuals with learning and behavioural difficulties. My latest experience is focused on delivering lessons and lectures in Design and Digital Media as well as my freelance projects.

Tutoring Approach:

Above all, I have successfully employed a motivational approach when teaching and found that this led to many positive student outcomes, such as developing their creative thinking. A key part of my career is helping students reach their full potential, which I work towards by focusing on creative and critical thinking when teaching. .

Personal Description:
I am a full time Maths teacher at secondary school with a Mathematics BSc Degree. I really enjoy maths (yes this is a cliche), but I love the problem solving aspect of it and the fact there is a right or wrong answer. I always look to simplify problems and am only happy if I fully understand it. I am currently KS4 coordinator at my school and thoroughly enjoy my work and do not see myself doing any other profession.

Teaching Experience:

10 years at a secondary school teaching GCSE Foundation and Higher.
I also teach Maths A-Level (all) and Further Maths A-Level (Core Pure 1 and 2 and Further Mechanics 1). I used to teach the old spec Decision Maths 1 and 2, so am also to help with these too. I am also familiar with Further Pure 1, Further Statistics 1 and Further Mechanics 2 but do ask if you want to go through this, please give me 3 days notice to brush up on this as some of the chapters in these books I have not covered for a while as they are new to the A Level course. Other Chapters I am completely fine with.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer a bespoke experience using mini whiteboards where I can tailor the questions to the pupils misconceptions and questions. All I ask is that the day before the session, you let me know what topics you would like to go through.

Qualifications:
Mathematics Degree from University of Nottingham

Personal Description:
I am an undergraduate student specialising in Music (first study violin) but have trained in all areas of performing arts (Dance (Ballet, Tap, Street, Ballroom/Latin/) Drama - LAMDA and on stage musicals/plays/panto//Music (violin, singing, piano, recorder, violin, flute) since the age of 4).

I hold LAMDA Grade 8 (Gold Medal), ABRSM Grade 8 violin, ABRSM Grade 7 Singing and working to ABRSM Grade 7 Piano and Grade 6 Theory. I also hold, ISTD Supreme Awards and NATD Presidents Awards in Ballroom and Latin and am working towards my Student Teaching Exams,

I teach Music Theory to Grade 3, primary Level Spanish, French, Maths and English including Reading and Speech and Drama. I can also teach Baby Ballroom and Latin American dance and help your child work towards LAMDA Introductory and Entry level exams.

Teaching Experience:

I started helping in Baby Ballroom classes when I was eight and have assisted in the infant/primary classroom since starting at secondary school

As House Music Captain, at school I have coached fellow students (with little to no music experience) in group singing and part song. As Dance Captain in a school musical, I was responsible for demonstrating and teaching routines set by the professional choreographer to fellow performers. I have also overseen younger pupils in their music practice.

I have personal experience of being tutored online which impacts on how I teach.. Having taken some 100 exams been involved in numerous competitions, festivals, concerts and stage productions I have a wealth of experience to draw upon and pass on.

Tutoring Approach:

A (free) online introductory meeting with parent and child will be arranged to establish parental objectives and to tailor future sessions/frequency around the child.
I have no preconceptions and begin by establishing what the pupil knows already and what areas require particular attention.
I use the "WALT" (ie We are learning to ......") approach to learning with a review at the end of the session as to what has been learnt. At the start of each new session I check the child's recall of the previous session/topic before moving on.
I will use a combination of online resources, shared screen, Powerpoint slides, hmework, with reference to specific curriculum/curricula, as required
Whatever subject is being studied and whatever age, my aim is to assist learners to become confident readers, communicators and independent thinkers with a thirst for learning.
I recognise that some children may take longer to absorb information than others and it may take some time for that "lightbulb moment". I am therefore exceptionally patient.
Due to attention spans, I recommend 30 minute sessions for children up to age 8, 40 minute sessions for children 9 to 11. One hour for secondary level.
Tutoring is on Zoom or Skype and can be weekly, alternative weeks or monthly.

Qualifications:
Cambridge Assessment Pre U Music
Cambridge Assessment Pre U Theology and Philosopohy
