| Personal Description: I have been involved in Education for over twenty years and I am especially passionate about the English Language, which is where my expertise lies. I graduated with a B.Ed (Hons) Degree in Education; English and Drama being my specialist subjects. I have worked as a Primary School Teacher both on contact and as a supply teacher where I gained extensive experience in all primary age groups. I also have experience in tutoring for GCSE English. I have also worked aso a Private Tutor both in English and Primary Mathematics. (As well as other subjects in the curriculum) I am currently working for several teaching agencies on a supply basis so I am keeping up to date with any curriculum changes. I have recently completed TEFL Course and have experience in teaching English as a foreign/second language; both with adults and children. I believe in creating a positive and stimulating environment for learning and feel tailor made programmes are vital for the learner. I see myself as friendly and approachable and I love nothing more than to see people achieve at their own pace. My hobbies are Cooking, photography, walking and swimming. I love spending time with family and friends. I am also passionate about animals and their welfare. |
Teaching Experience: Oldbury Park Primary School 1993 to 1999 both contract and supply working full-time. I covered every year from reception to year 6. 1999 to 2004 I raised my family but continued to work as a supply teacher in a variety of schools as well as working as a private tutor. 2004 to present. I have been working as a supply teacher/tutor, teaching classes and groups of children and adults English and Mathematics. I have also concentrated on studying for my TEFL Qualification and have been teaching English as a foreign/second language. I have experience of tutoring in groups and on a one to one basis. I have also taught on a corporate level within a company teaching Spanish staff English. |
Tutoring Approach: I have a very positive and friendly approach to teaching and learning. lt is vital to create lessons which are fun, varied and tailored to match individual needs. I treat everyone, whether in a group or on a one to one basis, as an individual and fully encourage students to work at their own pace. Learning most definitely should be an enjoyable experience for the learner and a rewarding one for the tutor. I am well organised and also believe in creating lessons, which have been well planned with aims and objectives as well as offering continuity. Lessons should also contain a variety of tasks, which should include written, verbal and computer based activities to maintain enthusiasm. Learning and knowledge equal self confidence and success. |

| Personal Description: I am a male. Graduating UEA in 2020 with a Philosophy Undergraduate degree and 8 years of experience in martial arts and the head instructor. Martial arts and self defence are my passion, and philosophy and critical thinking exersices my hobbies - sometimes played out through fiction, other times discussion etc. Will be starting Teacher Training officially 07/09/2020 and finishing the following year to make me an official teacher as well as assisting me in my tutoring. |
Teaching Experience: Year of official assistant instructing Martial Arts (with unofficial assisting beforehand) |
Tutoring Approach: I take a wholistic approach once the content that needs to be covered has been established. Not every philosopher or philosophy is relevant to every student, and not every principle of self defence is going to suit everyone. After establishing what it is that needs to be taught, I try to find the best way to impart that knowledge into each individual as everyone learns differently and will understand better through different analogies etc. |

| Personal Description: My name is Kateryna and I am currently studying at Aston University, Birmingham where I am completing my Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience. Prior to my University studies, I attended Adams' Grammar School in Newport, Shropshire where I completed my A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In addition to my studies at University, I work part-time as a domiciliary care worker, working with senior adults in their homes to ensure they live as independently as possible. In terms of my interests outside of studying and working, I love all things outdoors- in particular walking and biking. In the summer months I take great joy in watersport activities such as, wakeboarding and bodyboarding. |
Teaching Experience: Whilst being a student myself, I have tutored first year BSc Neuroscience university students during the course of their first year in order to bridge any gaps in their knowledge of first year content. Also, whilst I was a sixth-form student in my second year I tutored lower-sixth A-Level Biology students . |
Tutoring Approach: Having experienced tutoring myself in both A-Level Chemistry and Physics, I have great insight into what I believe makes a good tutor and what tutees who do require additional support actually want from their tutor. In my opinion, my approach to being a successful tutor is building confidence in tutees by exploring what they already are successful in to encourage the idea that requiring additional help is perfectly normal and nothing to be insecure about as they can already prove to themselves that they flourish already in other parts of academia. However, once we have identified areas of a subject that they feel not so confident in, my approach is to tackle the basics first, from which more detail can be brought about with ease. From this point, once a tutee has established concrete knowledge of a topic, I would encourage exam practice to gain an insight into questions that can be expected. |

| Personal Description: I have been a Sociology teacher for over 3 years. I did my bachelors degree in European Social and Political Studies and did a PGCE in Social Sciences at UCL. I have achieved A*A*A grades at A-Level Sociology, Politics and Geography. I have studied both AS and A2 Level Sociology with AQA and received A* Grades in all my modules - the topics I have studied were: Family and Households; Education; Crime and Deviance; Beliefs; Theory and Methods. I have also taught the Media component of the course. Even if I haven't studied the same topics, I believe that I can offer extremely valuable essay tips and techniques to help you succeed at A-Level Sociology as I have gained a wealth of knowledge over the last 3 years of teaching and 5 years of tutoring this subject. I can offer an array of resources from exemplar essay answers and Sociology lessons. |
Teaching Experience: I have been a Sociology teacher for over 3 years, therefore so I have a lot of experience with AQA A-Level Sociology specification. Also, I have tutored A-Level Sociology for over 5 years. Here are the reviews I have gotten from past tutees: "Her lessons are interactive and highly informative. She asks what i want to focus on next session and will send power points in case i was unclear on anything. She has made sociology much clearer to me." - Rachael "Whilst I was part of the corona virus a level year and didn't actually get to sit my exams! Aleksandra had been a great help. Her lessons were always very organised and structured and she was very prompt. They genuinely improved my subject knowledge (sociology) and even though I had gone to a grammar school, I feel like it's Aleksandra's teaching above all that would've enabled me to get an a* due to her little tips and key words!" - Trudi "Very good and friendly" - Julia "I currently get online tutoring from Aleksandra, she uses powerpoint style learning which is easy to follow along to and make notes, she is also good at explaining how to do past paper questions." - Malaika "Very good tutor and explains the subject well. Power points are very helpful" - Natasha "Miss Aleksandra Is absolutely great! She came prepared and organised never once watched the time! Helped my daughter so much already in just two lessons couldn't be more happy with her" - Nyomi |
Tutoring Approach: I make presentations catered for the tutee for every lesson. I make them as interactive and engaging, as this is what allows for retention. Throughout the lesson I make sure that the tutee understands the content (e.g. asking the tutee to rephrase the content that is being learnt to make sure they fully grasp the topic.) I end lessons with recap practice exam questions. After the end of the lesson, I send the presentation via email so you can revisit it at any time. Also, I am accessible via email so if you have any queries related to Sociology outside of the lesson I am always happy to help. |

| Personal Description: I am a friendly and approachable tutor with extensive experience in academia, both as a graduate teacher and a student (I'm currently a PhD Psychology student). Having completed my GCSEs, A-levels, a BSci in Psychology, an MSci in Psychological Research, and currently pursuing a PhD in Perceptual Psychology, I understand the challenges students face. I know what it is like to miss something or not quite grasp a concept as explained by a lecturer. While I love studying, I also recognise that it can be difficult, so I maintain a strict no-question-is-stupid policy. I encourage you to ask me anything and everything related to our studies. |
Teaching Experience: I bring over four years of teaching experience as a graduate teaching assistant, specialising in guiding first-year undergraduate students who are just beginning their journey in Psychology. During this time, I have gained extensive experience teaching a wide range of topics and modules within the Psychology degree program through interactive seminars and lectures. I am currently undertaking the Advanced HE Associate Fellowship to develop and demonstrate my teaching excellence. A significant aspect of my role involves teaching students how to write academic essays that meet university-level standards, which differ substantially from A-level expectations. I am well-versed in the university mark scheme, having assessed and provided feedback on many different essays and practical reports. This experience has honed my skills in delivering constructive written feedback and conducting one-on-one feedback sessions to help students improve their work. In addition to my role as a teaching assistant, I also have experience as a teaching demonstrator, where I provided hands-on instructions and facilitated practical sessions for second-year students. This role allowed me to engage students in experimental aspects of psychology to reinforce theoretical knowledge through practical application. Furthermore, my ongoing PhD studies in Psychology keep me at the forefront of current research and methodologies which I incorporate into my teaching to provide students with up-to date knowledge and practices. With a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment, I am dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals and develop a deeper understanding of Psychology. My experience, combined with my passion for teaching, makes me an excellent choice for students at various levels of their academic journey. |
Tutoring Approach: I understand that everyone learns best in different ways, so my teaching is flexible and tailored to you as an individual. I offer a free initial session where we will discuss the topics you wish to cover, your academic goals, the skills you want to develop, any problem areas, and your preferred learning methods. Together we will create a personalised plan of action to make sure you get the most out of your sessions. My methods are highly adaptable and depend on your preferred learning styles and level of study. Below are some examples of the methods I may use in our sessions. The list is not exclusive and our lessons will likely involve a combinations of these and other techniques: - Lectures and PowerPoint presentations via screen sharing technology - Call-and-response sessions to reinforce learning - In-depth discussions on key topics - Student-led Q&A sessions - Essay and assignment planning - Proofreading and feedback to improve your writing - Reviews of relevant published papers - 'Journal club' style meetings - Oral presentation practice (online) If you have friends who are interested in a group tutoring sessions, this is can be arranged. Reach out about this and we can discuss it further. |
