Personal Description:
An experienced information technology consultant working in the enterprise arena, I have a passion for teaching.
I have previous teaching experience not only on a one-to-one basis but also in the classroom environment.
Having attended private primary and secondary schools with exceptional teaching standards throughout, I have gained a lot of valuable experience and understanding in how educators can take their students the extra mile to ensure that not only do they get the best grades but also to ensure that students get the best from their education in order to assist them later in life, whether that be at university or in their careers.

Teaching Experience:

Having taught in both classroom and one-on-one based environments, I have a broad range of skills and expertise when it comes to actually lay out the knowledge. Private tutoring has been something I have always done on the side and having taught in such environments for over four years, I have significant experience in teaching and learning styles which can assist students on a multitude of levels.
I have taught students from secondary school to university level, the main subjects taught being Maths, English, Sciences, Law, Business Studies and Information Technology.
University Level can also be catered for, subjects such as Law, Business Studies and IT/Computing.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to give students a relaxed environment in which they can learn and enjoy. Furthermore, I believe working outside of lessons is also a key part to learning and developing one's knowledge hence my use of short yet effective homework exercises which not only prepare students for the next session but also help reinforce what they have already learnt. Using these techniques, I am able to better assist the student(s) on where they may need some more assistance. Of course, every student is different and learning techniques always need to be worked upon in order to ensure that students get the most out of their sessions with me.

Qualifications:

Personal Description:
I am a mature mother of 3 adults, semi-retired, living in Inverbervie. I am a graduate of Aberdeen and Napier Universities and have mainly worked in IT , including for IBM and Aviva. More recently I have worked with disabled and dyslexic students and adults , including at Robert Gordon University.

I have been tutoring maths for 10 years, and have had excellent feedback. I am friendly and approachable, and flexibly adjust the teaching to suit the student's needs. Most students either just need confidence, or perhaps have a "block" where they have missed or not understood something. Most teachers seem to use rote learning but never get round to teaching the basic understanding of the matter - so students can "do it" at the time, but two months later don't remember what they are trying to do.

Tailored homework helps with reinforcement, and there is no extra charge. Exam technique is also covered.

Teaching Experience:

10 years maths tutoring.
5 years teaching disabled and dyslexic students in the use of assistive software.
3 grown up children who are graduates in architecture, law and IT!

Tutoring Approach:

I usually work in the student's home as this is where they are most comfortable. I will check their latest exam results and discuss what they feel their weak areas are. I will ensure they are covering the whole syllabus. I will usually do 2 hour sessions, weekly or fortnightly, concentrating on 1-2 subjects, with given homework for reinforcement. I will work through past papers with the student to: highlight weak areas; give the student confidence; move fluidly between the different subjects; and cover exam technique.

Clients usually book 4 or 10 sessions. 10 sessions will usually ensure an uplift of one grade.

Qualifications:
BSc Hons Biochemistry with first year maths, Aberdeen University, 1983
Postgraduate Diploma in Systems Analysis and Design (IT); double award winner, Napier University 1984
Higher Maths A; O Grade Maths "A"
IBM and Aviva Training (Programming and Business Analysis)

Personal Description:
Hi! こんにちは!

I am Erina, a native Japanese teacher regularly tutoring adult learners via online Skype lessons. My home town is Tokyo, where I was teaching Japanese. I've been teaching Japanese for 6 years for beginners and lower intermediate (JLPT N5 to N4). I can also offer conversation practice for upper intermediate to advance levels. I'm very patient and enthusiastic teacher who tailors each lesson for the individual depending on the students interests and goals.

I mainly use a text book called Genki in my lessons which covers reading, writing, speaking and listening. The most difficult areas of Japanese language learning tends to be reading and writing, but I would like focus more towards listening and speaking. Although you need to know the Japanese alphabets of Hiragana and Katakana to be able to understand accurate pronunciations, isn't it more fun and motivated if you would be able to pick up some Japanese thorough movie, anime and songs you like!

In person lesson is limited slot and different price, please ask me if you need more information.

"I wasn't sure what to expect from the process but Erina has been great. I was quite specific with what I wanted to learn and she has been very flexible and patient. I feel positive about the process and I think she'll get me ready for a trip to Japan in the future."
Christian H

"Yesterday I had my first lesson with Erina, she was really fun to talk with, she quickly assessed my understanding and asked me about my goals etc. After discussing textbooks I already owned and my past experience she put me through my paces with some exam practice, reading comprehension and some speaking. I thoroughly enjoyed my lesson with her and gained confidence both in my current ability but also felt I was once again learning and not stuck in a plateau. Looking forward to our next lesson and completing my homework soon."
Sam C

"Erina is a great teacher! Learning from a native speaker has been so beneficial to me. Erina lessons are well structured and she pushes me to increase my learning while also making it fun. Highly recommended!"
