| Personal Description: Native Italian speaker born in Switzerland who graduated in 2016 from the University of Geneva, Faculty of Translation & Interpreting, with a BA in Multilingual Communication. I have now changed my career path but still translate and tutor part-time. |
Teaching Experience: I have tutored from high school to university. I had tutees of all ages. |
Tutoring Approach: Besides theory, I will equally focus on practice to instill confidence in the tutees. I will also provide cultural information that complements and supports the learning experience. I will also consider the tutees' suggestions as choosing to learn a foreign language often results from curiosity. |

| Personal Description: I initially qualified as a barrister in 1986. I decided to re-qualify as a solicitor in 1990 and have worked as a solicitor ever since, covering many areas of civil and criminal law. More recently, I have specialised in criminal law. After obtaining a 2:1 Llb degree in 1985, I finished in the top 10th percentile in the Bar Exams in 1986. I retired in 2021. |
Teaching Experience: I have now been tutoring degree and A level students since February 2021 in Criminal Law, Public Law, Tort, Land Law, Equity and Trusts and Contract Law. |
Tutoring Approach: I prefer to tailor my methods according to the needs of the individual student. Some students require more leadership than others. It is important that the student feels engaged in the learning process since it is the student who will have to go on in between tutorials to study the subject. It is important to encourage the student toward better work and methods of working. I encourage students to discuss with me their difficulties in grasping a particular area of law. It is very satisfying to see a student begin to thrive in an area of law which initially seemed intimidatingly difficult. It is always important to apply the law one has learnt to a variety of potential situations in order fully to understand how the law works in practice. Equally, such exercises are the biggest mark-earners in the exams. Learning to present an argument in a logical, easy-to-follow fashion is very important. |

| Personal Description: I graduated with a degree in Graphic Design from Bristol and ran a design studio with my husband (also a design graduate) for 30 years, working for national and international clients. As my husband moved into design management, I decided to progress to lecturing in Art & Design. I also began to develop my own art practice in graphic and textile design. I work as a freelance artist and run digital, textile and mixed media collage workshops. |
Teaching Experience: I have a degree in Graphic design and a PGCE in teaching art & design at secondary and Further Education levels. I have taught Art & Design at GCSE, A Level, Level 3 (16-19) BTEC, Level 3 University of the Arts London and Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. My specialist areas are graphic design - including the Adobe Creative Suite at a professional level - mixed media, conceptual fine art, fashion promotion, textile art & design, art history and contextual studies. I have been Subject Leader in these disciplines, designing curriculum delivery, year plans, briefs, assessment, and blended learning activities. As a personal tutor I have supported students through UCAS applications, personal statements, and interview portfolio presentation. I have supported students to successful interviews and acceptance into Central St Martins, Chelsea College of Art, the London Colleges of Fashion and Communication, Goldsmiths, Reading University's Typography course, the Cass School of Furniture, and BA courses in various art disciplines at Bristol, Nottingham Trent, Brighton, Falmouth, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, Coventry, and many others. |
Tutoring Approach: Ofsted and lesson observation feedback has told me I have a friendly, relaxed, and supportive approach to teaching. I am aware that I can enthuse, engage with, and encourage students who have experienced unconstructive criticism in the past. But I am aware that the role of a private tutor is slightly different to that of a teacher or lecturer. Parents often engage a personal tutor to enhance the learning experience of their child and expand the opportunities to achieve, not always realised in a busy classroom or studio, by the quiet or shy young person. It is important to encourage and stimulate the student through exposure to exciting examples of traditional or contemporary art and appropriate techniques. It is also valuable if the student achieves personal satisfaction and a feeling of enjoyment in their work. It is crucial, however, that a set of aims and objectives are agreed with parents and the student from the start. Aside from the obvious fulfilment that can be derived from creative work, there will inevitably be an exam to pass, a grade to achieve, a target to meet or a place to win. My experiences in a competitive specialist art school environment have provided me with strategies to assist students to understand the purpose behind their set work, in relation to assessment criteria, and tactics to communicate responses visually and verbally in order to achieve their targets and reach our mutual goals. I am highly experienced in working within a diverse and inclusive environment. While I am not trained to teach students with specific additional educational needs, I am fully aware of the impact lockdown and the post Covid environment has had on the mental health and emotional well-being of all students. As a personal tutor, I have supported and, I believe, assisted students suffering from low self-esteem, bullying, anxiety and poor emotional well-being to return to resilience, self-reliance and confidence in their abilities. |

Teaching Experience: I have over three years of experience tutoring. I began in 2021, privately tutoring over five students for a year on GCSE and KS3 English Literature and Geography.
