Personal Description: I studied English Literature at University. I can cater for all needs and abilities, as I can in the classroom. I have always wanted to be a teacher and this has been demonstrated through my choice of work experience in year ten. I grew up with a passion for education and learning. I was educated at a state school and being of the new young generation I can relate to all of the trials and tribulations endured by youngsters having either experienced them myself or knowing someone who has. I can use my personal experiences to help and guide the students as well as empathise. |
Teaching Experience: I completed my PGCE in 2012-2013. I have taught in two schools and am now the Head of English in a school in RCT. I also mark for WJEC, both English Literature and Language papers. |
Tutoring Approach: My teaching style would be firm but fair. I would help them with certain aspects of their course which they were struggling with and depending on their age I would range with help in essay writing, essay style and approaches to writing essays. I would help guide them through the reading process and close analytical reading, as well as guiding them through the essay writing process. I would be able to expand their knowledge of the books on the course and help them complete coursework. I am clearly a strong English student as I have always achieved high grades at school and have continued to study to degree level. I would be able to produce results to the highest of their capability and extend their knowledge of English. Pupils would need to come to my house in Brynmenyn, but at the moment all sessions would be done through Zoom due to the pandemic. |

Personal Description: I was an art scholar at school, and studied Illustration (BA Hons) in Cambridge. Design and craft have always been a part of my career, but I began drawing again a few years ago now, during the evenings after my daughter had gone to bed and I was immediately reminded of the therapeutic effects drawing and being creative can be, especially for a creative mind. I posted a couple on Instagram and they were sold within minutes. Since then, I have had the most amazing commission requests for the inks and over the last year have been commissioned several times to draw women during their later stages of pregnancy - such an intimate time to commemorate, each one is incredibly special. The nudes evoke different energies, feelings, emotions - celebrating all bodies, all curves, and all that a body can do and enjoy. I work across all media - sculpting is a huge favourite of mine, along with botanical watercolours, and portrait sketches. I would love to help those wanting to explore art in general, understand the basics, explore different styles and find a new outlet. For those wanting to improve, I would also love to help. I would love to provide family classes too. It's a fun bonding activity that evokes all kinds of confidence and memories. If you would like a few lessons to get your children involved too, please get in touch. Have a go at a little creativity, chances are you'll have a great time. 🖌️ |
Teaching Experience: I volunteer at my daughter's school providing art classes. I host 'sketch and sip' events for groups of people wanting to relax into the idea of drawing, be it drawing still life arrangements, sculptures, or live models. |
Tutoring Approach: I want to build confidence in exploring creativity - find what you like, what you don't, teach from the basic elements upwards and encourage curiosity. |

Personal Description: I'm Laurence. I attended the University of Oxford between 2010 and 2018, completing an undergraduate masters of mathematics (MMath) and a doctorate in mathematical biology (DPhil, PhD). I have 5+ years experience of tutoring the UK mathematics syllabus. I've greatly enjoyed mathematics from an early age. On a personal level, I have found that studying mathematics has helped me appreciate the beauty of the universe - hence my specialism into applied mathematics. Studying quantum theory, special relativity and mathematical biology fundamentally changed the way I look at the world around me. I love bringing other elements of science into my lessons, helping to broaden my student's perspective on the world, and to also demonstrate how maths can open doors to incredible new ideas. I'm also qualified in social work, with 4 years+ of specialist experience working with children who have experienced trauma. Due to this, I am also experienced in working with children with complex SEND needs or neurodevelopmental conditions, such as autism and ADHD. Through my time in social work, I have learnt how to support a wide range of young people, with empathy and care. This, together with my deep knowledge of mathematics, I can help children reach their goals. Whether they just need some extra help to achieve the highest grades, or if they need additional support tailored to their needs, I am here to help. I am fully DBS checked and safeguarding trained, committed to ensuring the welfare of your child. |
Teaching Experience: I specialise in the UK mathematics syllabus, up to university level. I primarily tutor GCSE and A-Level, however I am fully capable of teaching below this level. I am experienced with UK exam boards, however I can tailor my tuition to your needs. I am also happy to tutor adults as well as children, and have experience tutoring adult learners. In my Undergraduate Masters Mathematics course at The University of Oxford, I specialised in Applied Mathematics - studying topics such as quantum theory, quantum computing, special relativity, fluid/solid mechanics, and biomathematics. I completed my DPhil (PhD) in the field of Mathematical Biology. I researched mathematical models of the human eye, simulating the distribution and interaction of injected drugs. Over the 4 years of my research I published three papers in well-respected academic journals. |
Tutoring Approach: I have tutored at several Oxford independent schools alongside privately tutoring many students. I cover secondary school Mathematics, teaching students from the 11 up to the age of 18, covering everything from year 7 Mathematics to Further Mathematics A-Level. I am most experienced in tutoring Mathematics/Further Mathematics A-Level, GCSE and IGCSE. Most students seek me out as they have found themselves struggling greatly in school. In my experience, standard education does not allow teachers to give the kind of care and guidance 1-1 tuition does. Personal tuition is uniquely suited to help students get back on track, by identifying gaps in knowledge and understanding. I have helped many students who have felt very demoralised about mathematics, gain real confidence in their ability. I have shown them that they are capable of answering questions with ease where they previously had thought it completely beyond them. This is an exceedingly rewarding experience and I find real pleasure in seeing my students succeed. In addition, students also come to me to learn new material. I have tutored many students through entire A-Level modules, taking them from zero knowledge to achieving top marks on exam papers. So whatever your need is, I can help you - any questions please feel free to get in touch. |
