Personal Description:
I am a highly skilled guitar teacher and professional guitarist with many years experience. I teach a wide variety of guitar genres and techniques from acoustic Classical and Spanish guitar to electric jazz and blues guitar styles.
I studied for a postgraduate certificate in jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1987 and have been a professional jazz guitarist since 1977. I've played with many famous names of the jazz world in premier venues in the UK, including appearances on Channel 4 TV (The Big Breakfast), BBC Radio London and BBC Radio Scotland. My performances have included The Festival Hall, Barbican, Purcell Room, top London hotels such as the Dorchester, Grosvenor House, and Hilton, and jazz clubs such as Jazz Caf and 606 Club.

Teaching Experience:
I have a current CRB check and works both in the private sector for top public schools (I've been a guitar tutor at Westminster School in Central London since 1998) and for music services such as Enfield, Camden, Tower Hamlets and Islington.
I teach adults and children privately at home and also teach hordes of budding guitarists in schools in Enfield - some classes include 30 students!
One of my claims to fame is that I was the guitar tutor for the on-location school (at Leavesden Studios, Watford) for the stars of the Harry Potter films, tutoring 'Luna' in-between takes!

Tutoring Approach:
I teach beginners and advanced students who wish to learn for fun, join a band or wish to take Associated Board guitar exams. Lessons take place either at my home in North London (5 minutes walk from Tottenham Hale tube on the Victoria Line) or from a studio in Central London (Covent Garden).

I use the 'Caged' System to teach all styles of guitar, which I've perfected over many years ensuring a consistently high standard of achievement from my students. I ensure all my students develop a strong technique, and are able to play in a variety of styles gaining a wide repertoire of material.

Personal Description:
I am a former lecturer and examiner with a recent (April 2026) and totally-clear DBS criminal record check. I teach:

* ENGLISH (in all its forms; I also edit work for clients including professors)

* HISTORY of ART (on account of recently writing a 410,000-word textbook that spans every artist and artwork on the Pearson EdExcel History of Art A Level, but goes far beyond that to cover much more and for undergraduates too; this may well make me a world authority)

* STUDY SKILLS (at every level including for postgraduates up to doctorate level).

Teaching Experience:
Having originally trained to teach in secondary schools I worked in further education, in both the public and private sectors, and in the UK as well as Switzerland. I've taught the offspring of the super-rich (including royals) and have been offered two university posts in the UK and Sweden but turned them down.

I'm qualified as an English specialist but I have taught study skills and history-of-art too. These days I am often asked to help under-achieving students to get a grip and/or to polish their work. But I have edited the work of professors and world authorities, assisted students taking courses up to and including for masters degrees, and coached people who simply need to 'up their game' in respect of written work on which they are judged and/or rely for a living.

I am results-driven. I believe that I can get the best results from anyone. And I always start by diagnosing the problems. That includes looking at students' past work and at the marking of it by their teachers or lecturers.

Personal Description:
I am a freelance software developer and professional trainer who also provides one-to-one personal tuition services in computing, programming and IT related subjects. I took my first steps in programming as long ago as 1981, and have been a professional software developer since 1987. Along with the teaching and training side of my career, I develop software and web-sites for my clients, and I have been published several times in respected programming-journals.

I am also a BBC preferred-supplier, and am a professional life-member of the Association for Computing Machinery (founded in 1947 - the world's largest and most prestigious scientific and educational computing society). I have also published a book on the technicalities of e-book production.

The topics and languages I cover are: C/C++, Java, JavaScript, PHP, SQL (MySQL in particular), Regular Expressions, HTML/CSS, Python, VB and assembly language, along with software design, implementation and development principles (what many people call Object Orientation and Software Engineering), and web site design and implementation.

I have provided private-tuition services since 1992, and was a lecturer at Roehampton University from September 1998 to October 1999. I have provided professional training services since 1999, during which time I have delivered over 110 professional courses in programming and software design and development, for companies in the aircraft industry, computer gaming, banking, web development and the BBC.
