Personal Description: Salut - Je m'appelle Solène ( pronounced so-len ) I was born and brought up in Paris, although much of my family roots lie in Brittany. I came to England initially to learn the language - but ended up meeting my future husband and starting a family here in Dorking, Surrey. |
Teaching Experience: Apart from the obvious fact that I am a native French speaker - I have been teaching French since 2009 in schools, including Duke Of Kent in Ewhurst and Petite Ecole in Reigate, but mainly privately to exam students or adults wishing to improve their skills. I have also been called upon to help with some translation and making phone calls to France to assist people with such issues as property. |
Tutoring Approach: Having initially gauged a student's abilities in the language - I will prepare each lesson to their specific needs & requirements - whether it be working on grammar or perhaps general conversational skills. My aim is to give people confidence and make learning enjoyable. |

Personal Description: I have completed a Masters degree in Creative Writing. I completed my undergraduate studying BA Creative Writing and English Literature with 2:1. I'm aware that English and History are complex and intriguing subjects but I firmly believe that a thorough understanding and practise of techniques will enable to provide you with a firm base for any student to succeed. I am keen, conscientious, hardworking and reliable person. |
Teaching Experience: I have been tutoring privately for 14 years. I have worked with a wide range of ages and academic abilities from different schools such as private, public, grammar, boarding, faith schools and academies. I worked as an Literacy Assessment Assistant where i taught Year 8, Year 10, Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13. I worked as an Exams Officer Assistant for 6 months. I was a English Graduate Assistant in a high school where I had exposure to lesson and administration relating to the curriculum. I have completed a Literacy Leadership Award and I was assessed on my ability to plan and prepare a literacy activity. I had to show communication and motivational skills through delivering literacy across the curriculum. Having observed teachers, I was able to learn interesting techniques that are used to teach Key stage 3 and 4 students. From this experience, I was taught how to plan and structure a lesson i.e. the starter, an introduction, an interactive main activity and the plenary; how to use verbal and non-verbal communication successfully. I have also worked closely with my peers on A Level courses such as English and History by delivering revision sessions and presenting my ideas on literary texts, articles and academic research. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tuition includes a variety of techniques and strategies in order to guide and motivate the learner. I will set personalised targets with my students and their parents in order to achieve the desired results. I also intend to provide you with a personalized programme that is best suited to your individual needs. I'm very enthusiastic and try to make learning a fun experience, using different ways of learning. Prices of lessons can be negotiated. "She's a good listener. She tries to make people understand something in a way that makes you feel comfortable. She involved everyone in the discussion even the quiet ones and always tries to find new ways of explaining things. Revision sessions were really useful and I think the main reason was because she just loves helping other people whether it is people younger or the same age. Everyone went home feeling slightly more confident about the exam including me. She makes sure that everybody understands even if it has to be explained more than once." (Aarti, 18, student) "Charnjit has a way of making the impossible- possible. She is patient with her students and will try her hardest to make people understand. She has a way of teaching which involves a lot of group work and a one-one session where she will answer any questions from the stupidest to the smartest. After having few sessions with her I went into my exam confidently. Most importantly, she never gives up on anyone." (Rahwa, student) "Charnjit's teaching style is unique and possesses many qualities. She is patient and constantly checks for understanding in order to go over things if the topic is not understood straight away. She uses a variety of techniques such as group brain storming in order to get the class involved which is very effective. During our group revision sessions she used this technique which worked well as it got everybody thinking, talking and interacting which was useful when remembering theorists and certain dates. She also categorised the theorists into groups based on their research which was also helpful for revision as it broke down the amount of theorists into smaller groups which were easier to remember. In addition, Charnjit is very good at keeping the class' attention which is very important as a teacher." (Stefanie, student) |

Personal Description: Hi. My name is Bea, I am a Spanish teacher from Toledo, a city in the center of Spain, near Madrid, so I am a native speaker and I have a neutral Spanish accent. Besides, I am a DELE examiner from Cervantes and I have experience preparing students for SIELE and DELE exams (A1-C2 levels). |
Teaching Experience: I have more than 15 years of experience giving private lessons. I lived in England for 7 years and I taught Spanish as a first language to Spanish students who were living in England so they could improve their mother tongue and I have taught Spanish as a second language to students from different international countries such as Scotland, England, Poland, Turkey, India, Bosnia, Ukraine, Italy, Letonia, United States or South Africa. Currently, I continue teaching Spanish as a second language online. I have school-age students and adults who want to learn or improve their Spanish, travel to a Spanish-speaking country, or pass a DELE, SIELE, GCSE, or A-LEVEL Spanish exam. We can learn Spanish together and at the same time we can learn about Spanish culture: learning about different places to visit in Spain, knowing how to buy food in Spanish to prepare delicious recipes from different places in Spain or getting the vocabulary and structures to be able to order your lunch when you go to a restaurant. |
Tutoring Approach: I use different methods according to my students' interests and backgrounds. I have so many resources and materials already from my years of experience, for example, we could watch a short video in relation to the present topic, listen to a song to improve listening skill or focus on traveling vocabulary doing role-plays. I don't follow only one book. I like to have a guide about what the student would like to improve or to learn and from there I will give different materials. I prepare my students to get a CEFR level, to learn a language to travel abroad or just to improve the language. I will prepare the lessons according to your needs, showing you tricks to learn or remember specific Spanish grammar. We can have a long-term course to learn at your pace. I also offer intensive courses to get ready for an exam or learn quicker the language. I can teach online and offline lessons. When I work offline with my students I send the grammar, videos, podcasts, texts, activities, and so on; all that is needed to practice for the lessons are needed (I will send stuff to practice for more than one hour per lesson). All the skills can be practiced (as requested: speaking with recorded audios, listening with podcasts or videos, reading from articles I have or writing about a specific topic.) All the activities and learning are done whenever the student is free within a week and then I can check it and send feedback to the student. I work with Google doc, an online document that is just for me and the student, all the activities will be there. if the student has any questions about one activity, it can be written on there or simply the student could write his/her own notes to keep learning Spanish. |

Personal Description: Covering letter and statement I believe art has always been a universal language, between people from different cultures and people of same culture but with different backgrounds, interests and experiences. To me, art has to give a message, a feedback to the society and creates a some kind of social awareness of changes that always happen in our world. In my work, I like producing art pieces which will bring people together in a discussion or an argument. To make them stop and think about things in life they may never considered before, which they will only enjoy doing so through the fantasy of art I have been a loyal student to BCU, where I obtained, both my Fine Art degree and my MA in Art and Education Practice. Planning for my PhD research study too. This post will help me through my research and will give me a good access to both teaching and research. I have been looking for this opportunity to teach alongside my PhD study. I became a practicing artist and researcher in the subject of Britishness and modern values since 2003. Working from my studio as well as researching . I am interested in culture diversity and community. I am quite focused on research and combining my work with strong evidence. I also have been teaching Arabic and have strong knowledge of the Middle East culture and I can give support to students coming from the Middle East, including helping them to gain confidence and engage with other fellow students. I also have great experience with special needs, being a mother of an autistic boy. I have been developing my research skills for 13 years. I am quite an independent researcher and always looking for new methods to reach the maximum point I get to with my research. I believe in creativity and in carrying out new methods that suite different projects. Supporting my art work with strong research give me great credibility. Supporting others too is a great passion for me. I always been involved in teaching both Arabic and art. I like passing my experience and knowledge to students, directing them to new research methods and making them independent researchers themselves. Good results requires good supervision. I believe students fail when they were not giving the right support or did not have a supervisor who understands their potential and help them enough throughout their study. Khloud |
Teaching Experience: I have been also teaching Arabic to all age groups both in schools and privately for 16 years |
Tutoring Approach: I enjoy working with others in their projects and I like engaging them in mine. Good team work is essential for me. I have great experience in communicating with people of different cultures and backgrounds. I always update my research and analyse my outcomes and findings regularly. I am quite calm and patient. I listen to students and give them time, attention and respect. I believe in fairness and equality. I have a great respect for education and all what it stands for in terms of diversity and giving equal opportunities to every student and member of staff. Helping others reaching their potential in a safe environment is essential in education programs and practices I am most interested in helping students becoming Encouraging creativity in research carried out by students. No limits. |
