| Personal Description: I am an experienced teacher of both classics and modern languages, and have taught in a variety of secondary schools. I have stopped classroom teaching now but I am keen to carry on teaching in a different capacity. I am passionate about languages, words and communication and love to share this with others. I have lived abroad for prolonged periods in France and Italy, and travel to see friends there whenever possible. |
Teaching Experience: Since completing my PGCE in 1992 I have taught Latin, Greek, French and Italian, from beginners to A level and Oxbridge, in secondary schools, both private and state. More recently I have been giving private lessons to both adults and teenagers. ***PLEASE NOTE THAT I TEACH ANCIENT GREEK, NOT MODERN! The UK tutors website does not give Ancient Greek as an option in the drop down list. I am not able to teach modern Greek. |
Tutoring Approach: Successful language teaching should combine a fun approach using oral practice including song lyrics and games with a more structured approach to grammar; this gives the student confidence that they really understand the language used. The advantage of private lessons is that I can focus on what the individual learner wants, which might be lots of oral practice to become more proficient at speaking, or to pass a specific exam. I do like to set homework from week to week as this is an important part of progress; but it is not compulsory! |

| Personal Description: I'm an artist and drawing teacher. I have a degree in Fine Art specializing in sculpture from the Slade, U.C.L. and a postgraduate diploma in observational drawing from the Royal Drawing School London. I've worked as a children's book illustrator and author in Mexico city and have 11 books published by the Fondo de Cultura Economica, Alfaguarra and Macmillan. The books have been published throughout North, South and Central America and also in Spain and Germany. I draw from observation and my imagination and write songs. I make stop frame animations for my songs using drawing and collage. I also paint with oils. |
Teaching Experience: I have 5 years teaching experience through the Royal drawing school's drawing clubs in London, teaching students from age 8 to 18.I've also a years experience teaching stop frame animation to adults at the Royal Drawing school central and at the Trinity Buoy Wharf foundation course. I also have 4 years experience as a life drawing tutor for the London school of Economics. Thirdly I have a year's experience as art tutor and woodwork tutor for adults with Learning difficulties at Workshop 305, a charity organization in Wimbledon. throughout that time I have also taught drawing privately. |
Tutoring Approach: I always plan thoroughly making my teaching aim for the class (what do I want the students to learn?) as simple and clear as possible. I always have a selection of artist's work relevant to the class ready to show the students. I generally begin my classes with an introduction, asking students questions to elicit responses from them to clarify the concepts and aims of the class. I try to make my classes interesting and enjoyable and not to intimidate the students, but instead to encourage them. I try also to challenge each student as much as possible and help them to develop and improve upon their work. I also bring in my own experiences as an artist and if appropriate and helpful sometimes I will show them my own work. Above everything else, I try to inspire the students. That can be achieved through showing artists work and talking about exciting aspects of their life or the way they achieve what they do, drawing attention to qualities in the student's own work and how those could be expanded upon, or showing how materials and techniques can inspire and generate ideas. I try to invest a lot of enthusiasm and energy into my classes. |

| Personal Description: Hi! I'm Lucy, and I'm currently studying for my biochemistry degree at the University of Sussex. I have a passion for science, and want to share this with others, and hopefully help them with their own studies. Outside of this, I am very creative. I enjoy playing piano, singing, folding origami and watercolour painting. Outside of term time I live in the Oxfordshire countryside, and love taking walks around the places that I live. I also enjoy cooking and creating new recipes. I hope that you choose to contact me and that we can have a great time working together! |
Teaching Experience: I tutored for 2 years during my A level studies, in which I took biology, chemistry and maths. I have experience tutoring these 3 subjects, especially maths, and am able to tutor all of these to GCSE level, as well as other subjects to lower levels. My tutees have faced great success, one moving from 3rd set to top set for maths within a term of tutoring. |
Tutoring Approach: I like to work with you and your child, getting your feedback and perspective on what is going well, and what I can improve to help your child improve. I believe that transparency is key, and we should be able to keep clear and constructive communication, so that I can best support your child. I hope that together, we can get the results your child deserves, and let them reach their full potential. |

| Personal Description: Hey everyone! This is Jaycee from Hong Kong. I love art and fashion. I relish teaching, playing tennis ,watching movies and making ceramics. I am energetic and passionate in education and I have a sense of humour and like to explore new things. |
Teaching Experience: I am a qualified and accredited English and Mandarin teacher while my mother tongue is Cantonese as I am a Hong Kongese. Having been teaching in secondary school up to the sixth formers for years, I have rich experience in assisting students in mastering the language and identifying their room for improvement to shoot stars and boost their confidence , as well as finding the meaning of learning languages with inspiration and thought-provoking questions. I have received training in SEN in universities in Melbourne and got experience in teaching SEN students. |
Tutoring Approach: It depends on the needs, level, strengths and background of students to make adjustments on what sort of teaching mode and materials would be appropriate to help them fulfil their potential and excel, reaching or go beyond their target. Making learning enjoyable and irresistible is the key to enhance the cognitive reception and performance of learners. Thus, having a tutor is more for getting support and sharpening skills to lay a solid foundation for building your blocks higher. |

| Personal Description: As a passionate educator with over 5 years of experience teaching mathematics and physics in Manchester, I specialise in helping KS3, GCSE, and A-Level students excel. By simplifying complex concepts and tailoring lessons to individual learning styles, I make learning both effective and enjoyable. My students consistently achieve outstanding results, with over 80% improving by at least two grades in a short time, and many securing top marks or places at their desired schools. I am also experienced in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), providing the personalised guidance they need to thrive. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy coding, running, and playing team sports such as rugby and football. These activities keep me energised and motivated, ensuring I bring enthusiasm and inspiration to every lesson, helping students build confidence and realise their full potential. |
Teaching Experience: With a strong academic foundation and hands-on teaching expertise, I excel at breaking down even the most challenging topics into simple, relatable concepts. My adaptable teaching style ensures that every student learns at their own pace, and I am committed to helping them not only improve their grades but also develop a deep understanding and lasting confidence in mathematics and physics. I pride myself on creating a supportive, engaging environment where students feel empowered to tackle challenges and reach their goals. Whether helping a student master the fundamentals or preparing for high-stakes exams, my focus remains on inspiring a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to teaching is student-centred, focusing on interactive problem-solving and real-world applications. Lessons, typically lasting 60 to 90 minutes, blend theoretical insights with practical exercises to make maths and physics both accessible and engaging. I encourage active participation, fostering a positive learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions and explore new ideas. After each lesson, I provide students with clear, concise notes and step-by-step solutions to key problems covered in the session. Additionally, I assign targeted exercises to reinforce their understanding and support future revision. My ultimate goal is to simplify challenging concepts, help students build confidence, and inspire an appreciation for the beauty and logic of mathematics and physics. |
