I started working as a tutor in London and Surrey in 2013/2014, mainly for students who had been excluded from school. In 2015 I relocated and began tutoring private clients in East Anglia. In 2016 I started offering online tuition, first using Skype, and now with Zoom. Tutoring Approach:
For younger students, I assess them on their first appointment to see where their strengths and weaknesses are. I am teaching French and German I will start off using speech methods, so that the student feels relaxed and able to learn. This is very important. Depending on how we go we can then progress to pens and paper. Learning at this level ought to be enjoyable. I also teach adults at this level. I seek to build confidence in students, so that they can encounter native speakers and be able to do simple tasks like ordering meal in a cafe and an item of clothing in a shop. I have GCSE French and A level German.

Teaching Experience:
I have dyslexia, so I am sensitive to those who have this condition. I go at a slow pace to make sure the knowledge is consolidated before we move on. There is no hurry in learning either of these languages. Better to learn solidly and slowly
than poorly and in a rush. I teach in short sessions as these are most beneficial. There is homework if students want it. I am DBS cleared.

I will start by loosely adhering to the Raspberry Pi's scratch modules which cover algorithms, and building with code. However, I believe in child led learning. If your child is less interested in making games or programming animations, and is more interested in technology and robots, we will follow the BBC's micro:bit projects. 🎓 These can be followed by a gentle introduction to Python when they are ready (a widely used text based programming language).
