Tutoring Approach:
My primary goal for every student is to achieve clear, measurable progress in their subject. As students learn in different ways, I place strong emphasis on identifying each learner's individual style in order to maximise understanding, motivation, and confidence. I aim to make lessons both informative and enjoyable, while fostering independent thinking and long-term subject mastery. Summary of my teaching approach:

Teaching Experience:
EXPERIENCE
More than 30000 hours of experience, with degree in Maths and Master in Finance. I teach Mathematics and Economics at every level, high school to university students. Over the last 35 years I have taught GCSE, IB, STEP, GRE, SAT, and a large number of University students from UK and US.
Also prepared students for the AMC12 and many other Maths Competition, requiring an extremely high level of teaching skill and solving ability..
Tutoring Approach:
MY TUTORING METHOD
I prefer challenging, searching students who seek the essence behind the strict formalism, but certainly I can definitely help anyone armed with a will to learn. All this interdisciplinary experience gives me an incredibly powerful base for helping students and producing outstanding results.
I believe that the core of Maths concepts is always extremely simple and aesthetically pleasing. Once the student unlocks his own abilities, he can have phenomenal success.
I adopt that approach and my students get to A from D in record time, or achieve high grades easily in Uni exams.demanding, especially close to the exams.

Personal Description:
An experienced and highly successful teacher of Chemistry to A level and GCSE Science, In 2018 I retired from my job after 17 years as Deputy Headteacher of an outstanding-rated Oxfordshire comprehensive school. Although I enjoyed the challenge of a senior management position, it was always the actual teaching which I did that gave me most pleasure - and why I made sure that in the timetables I wrote I still retained a fair amount of teaching, after all that is why I went into working in schools in the first place, and you never tire of how great it is when you get students to realise they understand something new.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught Science - mostly Chemistry - for almost 40 years in three highly successful secondary schools. This included 12 years as Head of Science. I was highly regarded at each school for the level of success my students achieved at GCSE and A level. Since my retirement in 2018, I have returned to tutoring, supporting students for both GCSE and A level, and was called in to help out with A level preparation at a local independent school. In the last three years I have supported a number of students to achieve much greater success than they had expected - initially in person and more recently finding the best way to approach working online.
I am a current exam marker for A level and GCSE Chemistry with two awarding bodies. Before increased responsibilities at school ruled it out, I had extensive experience as a GCSE examiner at a Principal Examiner level, thus writing and grading GCSE papers as well as being responsible for marking them.
I have been co-author of published books of teaching and exam support material for GCSE Chemistry and Science.
Tutoring Approach:
It was always the actual teaching that I enjoyed most about the job, and so in retirement I have enjoyed being able to continue to teach in my role as tutor. I think my approach to teaching is best summed up by some quotes from an email a former A level Chemistry student sent me on my retirement. He had collected messages from others I had taught which included: "without a doubt the best teacher I have ever had (including those at uni)", "you helped stoke the inquisitiveness that still burns today", "few share the same level of enthusiasm for teaching as yourself, even fewer who invest as much time and personal interest in helping their students achieve to their potential". It has been rewarding this year with my tutees to see not only how their knowledge and understanding has built up, but more importantly how they have gained in their confidence in and enjoyment of the subject.

Personal Description:
I have wide and successful teaching experience, high expectations of myself and of all my students and a deep love of language, stories and teaching. I have kept up to date with educational research and can therefore offer the best evidence-informed practice to make a real difference to the children I teach. I believe passionately in the power of reading for pleasure as a lever for improving academic success and have converted hundreds of children into confident, independent readers.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught for over 20 years, in state and independent schools and in every year group from Year 1 to Year 13. I have also tutored children 1:1 and in small groups to prepare them for 11+ exams, senior school scholarship exams and to help them keep up if they are falling behind. I have even assisted university students with their dissertations. I am therefore as confident with students of A level Greek as I am helping young children who are struggling with phonics. My students have a track record of success in exams but also learn to love learning.
Tutoring Approach:
Experience has taught me how to adapt teaching to a student's individual needs, experiences and interests. Tutoring is powerful because it is tailored, so I offer personalised lessons which will support, engage, encourage and challenge my students. For English, I generally write my own tuition resources which are adapted specifically to suit the needs of an individual child. For 11+ preparation, I use some published resources to assess where children's strengths and weaknesses lie but then provide my own materials for teaching. For Latin or Greek, I would use courses to structure language learning but, again, supplement this with my own materials.

I am a Maths and Physics teacher and have been for nearly 40 years in both secondary and further education. I am very enthusiastic about the subjects I teach and enjoy helping my tutees to understand and progress. Both Maths and Physics are difficult for most people and it is a privilege to be able to explain ideas in these subjects in such a way that students can understand at whatever level they are working at.
I have been a keen amateur astronomer for all of my life and I am still in awe at the mysteries of the universe when I am looking through a telescope.
Teaching Experience:
10 years teaching Maths GCSE/A level in secondary education
30 years teaching Maths/Physics/Computing in further education
I have taught Maths and Physics for a wide range of examination boards and have taught one to one tuition to pupils from the age of 10 to A level and some undergraduate work in Maths, Physics and Engineering. I have prepared mature students for numeracy exams in order to gain entry into a teaching course or the armed services.
Tutoring Approach:
I am patient, friendly, enthusiastic and methodical in my approach to tutoring and try to instil confidence in my tutees as quickly as possible. I am flexible in my teaching methods and adapt my pace of delivery to the needs and ability of my tutees.
I am happy to work with the tutee to explain and reinforce the ideas behind the current topics that they are studying in school or college so they are able to keep up with their classwork. One of the worst fears amongst students especially in Maths is falling behind the rest of their peer group and not understanding the work as well as everyone else. When I am satisfied that my tutee is able to cope with their current work, I will revise topics to prepare them for tests and exams.
Both Maths and Physics require development of skills that constantly need practice. When it is close to tests or exams I will focus on exam questions so that tutees are aware of the standard required for the grade they are aiming to achieve.
For my online lessons, I am happy to arrange an initial free meeting with you to introduce the Groupworld whiteboard environment which I use for my teaching and to discuss what strategies I will employ to help you achieve your goals. There is absolutely no commitment after this initial session but hopefully it will match your expectations and we can arrange further lessons to give you the support that you need.

About me:
A friendly, patient, supportive and passionate tutor with +10 years maths tutoring experience, dedicated to going the extra mile to help learners develop a clear understanding of maths topics, build exam confidence and improve grades.
Academic Background
My background is in Mathematics and Education. I studied BSc Mathematics at Heriot-Watt University and then graduated with BA Education with specialism in Numeracy at University of Stirling, which has led me into tutoring mathematics.
My tutoring experience
I am from the Bishopbriggs area and a former Bishopbriggs Academy student. I have been tutoring mathematics for +10 years, supporting students of all ages at different levels from primary to secondary level maths, both in-person and online across many parts of Glasgow such as the East Dunbartonshire Area: Bishopbriggs, Lenzie, Kirkintilloch, Bearsden, Milngavie and the Robroyston. Additionally, I have also tutored in areas outside of the East Dunbartonshire such as many parts of North Lanarkshire: Cumbernauld, Moodiesburn and Stepps and Glasgow City Council - Southside & Newton Mearns, tutoring pupils all over different parts of Glasgow. I have tutored at pupil's homes, my own and even online, if distance is an issue. I am more than willing to travel to other parts of Glasgow to provide the support where it is needed.
Extra about my services - Online Tutoring
Lastly, if distance is an issue, the option for online tutoring is available. The online lessons are easy to arrange, set-up and easy-to-use. The programme I use has all the necessary features for online teaching and above all it is free. I will also provide the necessary information to guide you through the process, if needs be. More information on this will be given upon request.
Teaching Experience:
My teaching experience in schools
I have also previously worked in numerous primary and secondary schools for many years across the East Dunbartonshire - Bishopbriggs and Kirkintilloch/ Lenzie and North Lanarkshire in the Cumbernauld area. This experience has allowed me to become a tutor with a strong maths understanding and familiarity with all levels of the school curriculum, assessments, exam and school procedures and exam topics and SQA marking scheme.
Student feedback
Over the years, I have consistently received overwhelming positive feedback from numerous students and parents, expressing their satisfaction in how much they liked my support in improving pupil's grades, confidence and exam performance. Previous pupils and parents have commonly said: "I like the way you explain things", "I find it easier to understand maths", "I feel more confident in maths", "she is more confident in maths", "I like the feedback in their progress" and "you have been very supportive". This has inspired me to continually and actively dedicate and provide my services to supporting pupils all over Glasgow.
Tutoring Approach:
Teaching Approach
I adopt a direct, systematic, step-by-step teaching approach, where lessons are structured in a way that makes maths easy to understand. Lessons will firstly focus on identifying gaps in knowledge, reinforced with ample practice questions and then progressing to past-paper level questions. I believe that the more you practice, the more confident you will become. This allows pupils to go into exams with confidence.
What will you get out of the lessons?
1. A structured, step-by-step teaching approach so lessons are clear and easy to understand with clear topic summary notes for revision and consistent updates on learner progress.
2. Lessons will be tailored around the pupil's learning needs and will firstly identify gaps in knowledge to establish a starting point, reinforced with ample practice questions and building towards exam-level questions. They will cover all maths topics but will prioritise specific areas the pupils have difficulty with or wish to focus on to ensure a strong maths foundation.
4. Provide homework & assignment support, guidance with classwork, exam preparation and past-paper practice.
5. Past-paper revision techniques and plenty of exam practice so pupils can feel confident going into the exam.
6. Recommendations of any books and teaching resources for exam practice will be provided.
If you have any queries please feel free to contact me via email or phone. I'd be delighted to answer any questions. I look forward to working with you. Thank you.
Alexander

Personal Description:
I'm Kirsty, I love teaching as I believe my passion for my subject helps ignite curiosity in young people of where we see maths in everyday life and how it affects their lives. Spotting patterns and being able to problem solve in every job and career path comes from great mathematical analytic skills!
I love when students get the 'lightbulb' moment; the understanding kicks in and we get the solution to the problem we are working on. Endorphins rushing when we feel a sense of achievement. I want to help break the barriers of 'I'm not good at maths' and change mindsets to 'I'm not good at maths, yet'. Optimism and a positive mindset can really change outcomes, both with maths questions and life in general.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teacher for the past 10 years in a secondary school in Billingham. I have taught throughout key stage 3 and 4, from year 7 through to year 11. I have designed schemes of learning and the resources to go along with that to enable students to have interactive but thoughtful, ordered maths lessons with key concepts covered and checking for understanding throughout.
Recently I completed the National Professional Qualification in Leading Teacher Development (NPQLTD) which has enabled me to break down components of learning - for people of all ages and abilities - and ensure the best progress is made through the correct understanding and structuring of learning modules.
Since 2018 I have worked for exam boards Edexcel and OCR marking a mixture of higher and foundation papers, so I have a good understanding of how examiners apply the mark scheme and the experience to teach tips and techniques to ensure exam success. Not that exams are everything, but they are a necessity to further your academic career, so understanding how to do them well is key to showcasing your knowledge!
I have tutored privately 1:1 for the past 7 years, working with a mixture of ks3 students, as well as ks4 in examination prep at both higher and foundation level. Everyone I worked with got the required confidence or grade that they needed to move onto the next stage of their learning journey - excellent!
Tutoring Approach:
I love a mixture of tasks to break up the monotony of 'a worksheet of questions' which might be some peoples' experience of maths lessons. Maths is not boring; I want to share my love of it with people!
I like interactivity - be it using mini whiteboards, card sorts, tarsias etc. - as well as ensuring key concepts are covered with GCSE style questions so our skills match up and link to what examiners might ask.
Using physical manipulatives to introduce concepts which leads to understanding at an abstract level helps solidify knowledge and fluency of skill.
If one strategy does not work, I have a range of other ways to aid understanding - one size does not fit all with maths and there are often more ways than one to find a solution. Let's explore our reasoning together and develop a solid mathematical understanding and hopefully build your confidence at the same time!

Personal Description:
A little about me: I'm Shaun, an 24 year-old originally from Dulwich. I'm just finishing my first year of a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Bath, and I have a first-class MSci in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, where I also helped lead tutorials and peer-assisted study groups. After my undergraduate degree, I worked as a Specialist Junior Chemistry Demonstrator at the University of Oxford, where I gained my AFHEA accreditation (Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy). These roles gave me solid, formal teaching experience and also helped me learn how to support neurodivergent students in a calm, friendly, anxiety-reducing way that seems to work well.
Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience teaching A-Level Chemistry, including supporting students who haven't taken A-Level Physics or Maths and therefore find the calculation-heavy topics tough. I've been tutoring privately for around 8 years, and a lot of that has focused on building confidence with moles, equilibria, rates, thermodynamics, redox, and the general maths side of the course.
For example, one of my recent tutees - who's just about to start a paramedicine degree - initially left every maths question blank. We worked on how to break questions down: how to read them properly, pick out key information, and what to do when you feel stuck. By the end, he was attempting these questions with confidence, which made a huge difference to his grade.
Tutoring Approach:
I usually teach via Zoom or Teams using an interactive online whiteboard so we can work through problems step-by-step. If you want, I can also prepare short presentations or typed notes for specific topics. Most students find online lessons just as effective as in-person, especially for structured calculation practice. And since I'll be entering a paper-writing phase soon, in-person sessions may become possible again later next year

Personal Description:
Passionate Science Specialist & Anatomical Sciences Graduate
My fascination with Science began in school, fueled by a curiosity about how the human body functions. This passion led me to study Anatomical Sciences at University before pursuing my PGCE. Today, my goal is to ignite that same spark in my students.
I believe that even the most complex Biological pathways or Physics principles can be mastered when broken down into digestible, logical steps. My tutoring style is rooted in patience and empathy; I understand that Science can feel overwhelming, and I provide a calm, supportive environment where students feel confident asking 'why.' Whether we are exploring the intricacies of A-level Biology or building a foundation in KS3 Science, I tailor my pace to the individual, ensuring they not only understand the subject but truly enjoy the process of learning it.
Teaching Experience:
Head of Science & AQA Examiner with 12+ Years of Classroom Excellence
I am a fully qualified teacher with over 12 years of experience in secondary and sixth-form education. During my career, I progressed to the role of Head of Science, where I was responsible for curriculum development and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all three disciplines.
My expertise is backed by 'inside' knowledge of the assessment process:
Examiner Status: Having examined for AQA for several years, I have a precise understanding of how mark schemes are applied and the common errors that cost students marks.
A-Level Specialist: Extensive experience teaching A-Level Biology across both AQA and OCR specifications, focusing on the bridge between GCSE and the rigorous demands of Post-16 study.
GCSE Expert: 12+ years of delivering Triple and Combined Science for AQA, OCR, and Edexcel, with a proven track record of helping students exceed their predicted grades.
Science of Learning: I specialize in long-term retention strategies, helping students move information from short-term memory to exam-ready application.
I combine my leadership experience with a deep technical knowledge of the UK curriculum to provide structured, results-driven tuition that prepares students for the exact rigours of their final exams.
Tutoring Approach:
My sessions are strategically designed to move students from passive learning to active exam mastery. Each one-hour session is tailored to the student's specific hurdles, whether that is grasping complex biological pathways or mastering the mathematical requirements of Physics.
As an examiner, I place a heavy emphasis on application of knowledge. We don't just "cover the content"; we deconstruct mark schemes to understand exactly what examiners are looking for. We will focus on:
Command Word Clarity: Understanding the difference between "describe," "explain," and "evaluate."
Memory Retention: Using proven techniques to ensure information sticks long-term.
Mark Scheme Mastery: Learning to write concise, high-scoring answers that hit every marking point.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes, though I offer flexibility to accommodate intensive revision or specific topic deep-dives.

Personal Description:
I have spent my life learning languages and have a degree in English and Spanish and other university level qualifications in French. I currently teach GCSE English Language at a local further education college and have recently moved to Bedfordshire and am interested in taking on some tuition classes at weekends and evenings. I do have experience of tutoring online as well as face to face.
Teaching Experience:
I have over 6 years tutoring experience with a great deal of success in both GCSE level and Scottish Highers courses in English, French and Spanish. I originally qualified as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language in Barcelona originally and have been developing linguistic and teaching skills ever since.
Tutoring Approach:
With regard to my approach to tutoring, I always put my students' requirements first and use these to dictate my lesson planning. Normally, I am working with a student towards an exam and part of my role is assisting the students to prepare for the exam and develop appropriate methods for tackling each question. As part of an initial needs analysis, I like to establish any gaps in knowledge that need to be worked on so that the student has the best preparation possible when taking their exam.

Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Marc, and I am a Worcester-based tech enthusiast specialising in providing patient, practical, one-to-one computer and device coaching for older adults and absolute beginners. My primary area of interest is community-focused digital literacy, particularly helping the older generation overcome the fear of modern technology. I want to empower people to feel confident online, shop safely, avoid scams, and comfortably use their devices.I am fully mobile, love to travel, and look forward to tutoring face-to-face within Worcester and the immediate surrounding local areas. I am highly comfortable travelling directly to clients' homes or local community hubs, allowing them to learn in the quiet, familiar environment where they actually use their devices every day. Outside of tech, I am an approachable, easy-going person who genuinely enjoys meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals.
Teaching Experience:
Rather than relying on formal teaching qualifications or rigid academic theory, my background is built entirely on extensive, real-world tech experience and a genuine passion for digital inclusion. I have spent years providing informal, hands-on technical support to older family members, neighbours, and friends.Through this informal experience, I have successfully taught absolute beginners how to comfortably master their tablets, set up and organise new smartphones, and safely navigate the internet. This background has given me deep, practical insight into the specific anxieties, frustrations, and roadblocks older generations often face when interacting with modern tech. I am highly proficient with all major daily platforms, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Skype, online banking, grocery apps, and email management, and I know exactly how to guide someone through using them for the first time.
Tutoring Approach:
As a neurodivergent individual, I naturally view problem-solving through a unique lens. I know firsthand that everyone processes information in their own way, which makes my teaching style exceptionally patient, adaptable, and empathetic. I do not use rigid textbooks or confusing technical jargon. Instead, I break complex tasks down into small, manageable, bite-sized steps. If a concept or a task doesn't click with a student using a standard explanation, I readily adapt on the spot and use clear, everyday analogies until it makes total sense. I believe that a comfortable, low-stress environment is essential for learning, which is why I travel to my students' homes. No question is ever too small, too simple, or silly in my sessions, and we will always move entirely at the student's own preferred pace.
