I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in English Literature, and then from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating with a BA in acting, where I was the recipient of the Noel Coward Scholarship from 2008-2011. The style of tutoring needed by individual students will vary. It may start with ensuring understanding of the key concepts in biology at an appropriate level. The jump to A level from GCSE is quite considerable and even the brightest students can struggle initially. Another essential skill needed is the ability to pull together biological content taught in different parts of the syllabus. As exam time approaches, a student has to apply their knowledge and understanding to real exam questions. Practice of exam technique is often a large part of a tutorial session in the run up to A level exams. I am a 24 Year old with a degree in Early years education. I am currently doing my Qualified Teacher Training at a primary school and tutor children in Maths on the weekends. I have tutoring children for many years to help them excel in schools so that they can reach their full potential.

Teaching Experience:
Through the years, the goal of educating young children has been the focus of my chosen work experiences, both in Health and Social Care (Level 3) at A Level to outside the classroom. From shadowing Early Years Practitioners to assisting Reception class teachers, I have made my rounds from school to school. The invaluable lessons learnt at these settings gave me the skills used to run an afterschool homework club at the local community centre. This included maths and English classes taught to the children as an extension of the school curriculum to help them get a better footing in their classrooms. During my time volunteering at the local community centre, I aided in many after school and summer school activities. The aim; to widen the experiences and opportunities for the children of Somali refugees. This included sports-based activities in the summer holiday, football club, art club, dance as well as outside sourced leisure interests. My reasoning for volunteering here is that I was once one of these children and this was the same community centre that widened my own horizons. However, this did not have my focus, instead, afterschool homework club did. These experiences showed me that I am willing to go above and beyond for the children that need it both in and out of the classes.

As a nanny for two children in Key Stages' 1 and 2, I was fortunate enough to gain experiences of at home teaching of curriculum-based resources provided by the school during the lockdown. It was an invaluable insight into primary school curriculums and gave me the necessary experience needed into teaching, without leaving the house. Tutoring Approach:
Teaching is a rewarding job where children learn through fun and grow to become more inspired and confident learners. Its challenges include time management, differentiating learning styles and lack of funding to name a few. I found time management to be the most important of all, not only for the children but also to aid the teacher themselves, both in and out of the classroom. This leaves time and energy to brainstorm teaching styles specifically for the children being taught, to create a classroom where children with varying learning styles can be educated differently yet equally.

There are a set number of qualities that all teachers must possess to work with children learned during my work experiences in a nursery and primary schools and after school homework programme at the local community centre. This includes patience with the children, kindness and empathy, and of course; an eagerness to learn themselves. These are all qualities I have acquired from constant self-reflection and obtaining criticism from peers and established personnel in the education field. The most important being communication. Knowing how to empathises with others and get your point across in a solution-based way, only strengthens parent- teacher relationships.

Teaching Experience:
Working in schools with students has allowed me to understand how best to support students in groups or one-to-one situations to help them progress as quick as possible. I have over 1,000 hours experience of tuition and am able to support students of all abilities. I have enjoyed supporting students with entrance exams to secondary schools, passing their GCSE and also retaking their Maths GCSE with success in all. I am also able to support students with SEN needs and aim to personalise learning for all so that it is accessible and achievable.

Working with children and young adults for several summers through the National Citizen Service has helped me improve my ability to challenge, motivate and help students progress, helping them reach their goals.

Tutoring Approach:
I provide individual and group sessions for KS2 - KS5 students. First sessions revolve around testing the student to build up a picture of their strengths and areas of improvement. A plan will be made to help secure the knowledge they have and build up on the things they don't know. For exam candidates, lessons will focus on strengthening key skills and understanding how to approach exam style questions.

For students wishing to pass an entrance exam, I am able to support with Maths and Non - Verbal reasoning for either CEM or GL tests. Starting from September I will be offering weekly group sessions for GCSE and 11+. If you would like to join the classes, message me as places are limited.
