Personal Description:
I am from Gloucestershire originally and have lived in N London for the last 15 or 20 years. I have 2 teenage children and experience bringing up a further 3 children, all now adult. I perform reasonably regularly on trumpet.

Teaching Experience:

I have 10 years of experience teaching Piano, Trumpet, Violin, Recorder and Guitar in Haringey primary schools for Haringey education services and additional 10 years experience as a private music tutor. Can tutor GCSE music also. Recently I trained for my diploma in music therapy.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to be guided to some extent by my pupils' wishes when it comes to learning, although this is less appropriate (and therefore less used) when it comes to children. My teaching usually involves an element of improvisation although this is not compulsory. My teaching style is usually of the 'laid-back' approach although if my pupil wants to work hard at their instrument and make rapid progress then this can certainly be arranged. My usual teaching style also usually includes learning to read music but this again can be flexible.

Qualifications:
Grade VIII on trumpet, V (distinction) on Piano, Grade VII on violin

Personal Description:
Teaching English is my passion! Having worked as a PA/Office Administrator for 10 years, I decided to train as a TEFL teacher last year. The experience has changed my life and I quickly developed a love for teaching the English language. I am a native English speaker with impeccable written English and a sound knowledge of English grammar. I have recently returned to office work but wish to continue teaching, so that I can help others to improve their knowledge of English. I believe that learning English should be enjoyable. I love the English language and believe it is such a valuable skill to be able to speak it well and with confidence. I love reading and writing, and am also interested in psychology.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent nine months teaching English as a foreign language to children of all ages (3-18) and to adults in Thailand and China. This includes reading, writing, listening and speaking. I have taught classes of 40 and tutored on a 1-1 basis. My tutoring sessions involved a mixed approach of text book and other materials. I have experience of teaching different levels of ability from beginner through to advanced. I loved teaching abroad and feel proud that I have helped to improve the knowledge and skills of my students.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to be flexible and work with the needs of the student. I am a calm, patient and approachable tutor and I enjoy working with children and adults. I am as creative as possible, ensuring that teaching methods and materials are varied, relevant and interesting to the student. This includes the use of and songs for children which develop knowledge of phonics, vocabulary and grammar. For adults, sessions would focus on a variety of conversation topics and contemporary issues, as well as written and listening exercises, which would assist the learner's understanding of contemporary culture as well as the language itself.

Qualifications:
120 hour TEFL Certificate (London College of Teacher Training)
BA Hons Sociology
A Levels - Philosophy (A), Sociology (A), Psychology (B)
GCSEs - 4xA, 3xB, 2xC (English Language B)

Personal Description:
I have always been interested in languages, having studied French, Russian and Latin at school. As an adult I have built on my skills in the French language and I now have - in addittion to O and A levels, a Diplome d'etudes de la langue francaise. This qualification is awarded to adult learners by the French government. I am also a keen participant in French cultural activities locally and recently spent a brief period working in Belgium in a French speaking environment.

Teaching Experience:

Although not a trained teacher, I have considerable experience in providing training for adults. I have experience in providing GCSE and AS French tuition and in each case my students make a marked improvement.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient and calm person. To begin with, I assess the student's level and their interests. This enables me to tailor the sessions to that particular student. I like to encourage my pupils' confidence in their abilities as a way to success. I am enthusiastic about the French language. I also use humour in my sessions.

Qualifications:
DELF (awarded by La Republic Francaise)
A level French and O level French

Personal Description:
I obtained BSc and PhD degrees from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and subsequently taught at degree level in the Physics Department of Trinity College Dublin. I have also taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the Computer Science Department of the University of Durham.

My previous career in industry has given me experience in digital hardware, software systems maintenance, and systems management, to complement my experience in teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher fourteen years ago and have taught in Emmanuel College Gateshead and Barnard Castle School, where I was head of Physics until 2017. I am now semi retired but still teach A-Level Physics for two days a week. My experience includes teaching both domestic GCSE and Cambridge International GCSE. At A-Level I teach the AQA A syllabus and also the Cambridge Pre-U course. As a personal tutor I have I also provided tuition in the other domestic specifications.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy the one to one teaching aspect of tutoring and aim to build a warm and friendly relationship with my tutees. I have been providing private tuition in A-Level Physics for about ten years. I have experience with all of the domestic specifications plus Cambridge Pre-U. My students are generally successful in following their desired university choices and in one case a student changed his planned study course from IT to Physics as a result of discovering the attractions of the subject.

I have experience with online tutoring using Skype, FaceTime and Google Hangouts.

'I reached out to David to provide me with some background understanding of concepts such as work, electricity, energy as well as an insight into the different power generation technologies. At the time of our first session, I hadnt studied physics for about 8 years! David did a great job in guiding me through and I ended up with a strong, sound knowledge of the field. This was all the more impressive given that it was done over a short six session period. I would thoroughly recommend choosing David as a tutor - his teaching style, friendly approach and willingness to assist outside of the formal sessions is second to none. I look forward to continuing my work with him in the future.' Mr J.R. January 2018

'Thanks to David's expertise and support, our son achieved an A at A-level in physics. David helped him improve his confidence, subject knowledge not to mention exam technique. The Skype sessions worked really well and were time efficient. For these reasons, David's tutoring is invaluable and we highly recommend it.' Mrs D.G. August 2018

Personal Description:
Hello! I am a recently graduated Illustrator with a first class honours from Grays School Of Art, with experience of working both freelance and with companies at a professional level. Ive always been really passionate and enthusiastic about art with a focus on work that tells a story, which is what drew me towards studying illustration. And im keen to help foster that passion for others, As someone who had quite a turbulent art education in my high school years im quite eager to be able to help out others who might be in a similar spot and would benefit from a bit more tuition.

Teaching Experience:

Ive worked with a range of ages right the way through from early high school to portfolio preparation and being a graduate myself i understand what is required for university level portfolios as well as high school examination boards. I have also worked with younger children to make art an interesting and engaging subject focusing on teaching fundamentals but through a lens they find interesting and engaging.

Tutoring Approach:

A friendly and relaxed approach looking to ensure that you have an understanding of fundamentals and help to create a portfolio or to complete course/school work to a standard that is both professional but also reflects your interests and gives you a folio of work you're really happy with. While the fundamentals are obviously important im far more interested in helping to cultivate interest and enthusiasm rather than tutoring in a very dry archaic manner. For this reason as well as traditional mediums i also cover using digital ones such as the adobe suite.

Qualifications:
First Class Honours in Illustration at Grays School of Art
