Personal Description:
I like being a teacher and I get true enjoyment from sharing my knowledge and skills with new learners, making them realize how easy learning can be and how much actually they do know already. I like helping young people enjoy learning and making learning easy for them. I am patient and adaptable and easy to talk to. I always discuss the needs of my new pupils very carefully and aim to build their confidence in the subject. As an Examiner with a well-known Board, I am able to help my students to maximise their potential using targeted revision and exam techniques.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a teacher for many years. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I have worked in several schools now, gaining experience from working with a variety of learners of various ages and learning styles. I have worked within the requirements of more than one exam board, therefore I am quite familiar with all exam formats. I have been a tutor also for 10 years with very good results. Students do like me within first session, gaining confidence and self reassurance that they are capable of a lot already. Only some issues need re-addressing, building on their prior knowledge. I work as an Edexcel and SATs expert examiner. I am recommended as a tutor by Emmanuel College and Cardinal Hume School in Gateshead, as both schools know me well. Among other teaching positions I have been a classroom teacher at Lord Lawson School in Birtley and Whitburn School in Sunderland. I have worked as an intervention teacher (one to one teacher) in a few schools already, due to my extensive experience gained along the past years.

Tutoring Approach:

Within the first session, I discover the individual needs of my learners, their strengths and weaknesses. Then I devise a plan to address the whole programme of study within the number of weeks available, so no topic is ignored. I work simultaneously on exam requirements, but also on skill development, skills that the student can benefit from, outside the boundaries of a specific exam format. Students find themselves forgetting the time, often engrossed in their work, mentally challenged and stimulated. I set short homework at times, so that students can practise independently on those skills they develop with me, being reassured that they can transfer those skills further. I do provide learning materials which I do personalize for each student. I am very likable and I do make young learners be at ease within minutes of meeting them.

Personal Description:
Dear Students & Parents

My name is Menakha. I have graduated in BSc Hons Biomedical Science from Imperial University. My secondary education was completed at the Tiffin Girls' Grammar School. I believe it is more useful to find tutors who have been through what the students are going through, ie. I have been through the exams and stress you students are going through, so I feel I understand how to get through to you and help you achieve an A grade or higher in Maths, Biology or Chemistry, both in GCSEs and A levels. I would ultimately love to see my students achieve an A* in their tutored subject. I have all the past exam papers from specific exam boards, such as OCR, AQA, Edexcel etc, and through experience, I know the way to obtain the highest grade is to do as many past exam papers as possible. I have been taught by great teachers at Tiffins and I hope to shed this knowledge, understanding and their teaching ways onto my students.

I have a huge amount of patience, but most importantly I encourage all those around me to pursue their own dreams.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored many students; GCSE and A Level Maths, Biology and Chemistry from a range of schools; with almost all of them obtaining a grade A or A*. During my time at Imperial University, I have tutored younger year Biomedical students. With all this experience and having received an outstanding education from a Grammar school and top University, I can assure you I will do everything possible to help my students obtain that A or A*.

I have seen students go from a grade D to an A within a few months of tutoring. When time is short, there are fast ways of boosting grades as long as you stick to the right method. I have seen students who hated Science go onto study Medicine at University through teaching them to love Science, as they realise they were never 'bad' at Science, just not taught the right way to tackle Science. This is what gives me pleasure, seeing these students become the best they can become.

Furthermore, I also tutor for the 11+ entrance exams. Having gone to a Grammar school myself I have past 11+ exam papers direct from many grammar and private schools. Once again the key to passing these exams is through these exam papers.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is simple. The key is to teach students the background information and understanding in the subject, then spend the time practising past exam papers from the exam board the student will be sitting. That is the key that worked for me and helped me obtain the grades I did in school and university. Every time a student finds a specific question difficult on an exam paper, I intend to go back to that topic and revise it fully, then resume to past exam papers focusing on only those specific topic questions. Then once all the difficult areas are sorted, we then go onto work through full length exam papers.

What students often find, as I did during my time, is that by working through all the exam questions from a particular topic, therefore the understanding that topic to the maximum together with full length past exam papers will ensure your grade A or A*.

The end result is to master your exam board and begin to think like an examiner yourself. Different exam boards have different ways in phrasing the same question and answer and mastering this is key. This is what will get you that A or A*.

This is what Tiffins and Imperial taught me and I now wish to teach the same principle to my students.

📚 Over 15,000 hours of one-to-one experience 📚

✨ Full-time professional tutor ✨

💡 A-Level Maths & Further Maths Specialist 💡

🔑 UCAS, Oxbridge and University Application Expert 🔑

✔️ Maths ✔️ Physics ✔️ University Entrance ✔️ TMUA✔️ STEP ✔️

Since graduating from King's College, Cambridge in 2013, I have been a dedicated full-time professional maths tutor.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I offer a **free 30-minute** introductory class to all new students so we can get to know each other and the technology we'll be using before committing to anything! I have over 7,000 hours of online tutoring experience, so I am well placed to work either online, or in person at my office space in Hoxton where I also run classes and mock exams.

----

I love to turn good students into the best, always pushing and stretching my pupils to get the most out of them. For those looking to achieve the top grades, I can offer my experience in fine-tuning exam technique, as well as giving insight and tutoring in more advanced papers (TMUA, ESAT, STEP). I also offer personal and informative preparatory advice for those students applying to Oxbridge.

On the flip side I have seen that the teaching of maths and science in the classroom can sometimes leave students feeling dejected, uninterested, and even unable, often sapping their confidence. Through my tutoring I aim to rebuild this confidence and unlock each student's true potential. Together we can fill gaps in understanding, consolidate material, get ahead of the syllabus and ultimately strive towards better grades.

In any case, every lesson will be tailored to each student's individual needs.

Teaching Experience:

Over 15,000 hours of one on one tutoring experience.

Experienced with Edexcel, OCR, AQA and OCR MEI for Maths and Further Maths A Level.

Being lucky enough to go to Cambridge, I was blown away by the power of small group teaching, having been used to large classes my whole life. I could not believe the amount it was possible to progress in each guided supervision. It's a privilege to be able to provide such a service myself, for my students.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning happens best one on one. I take a very informal, interactive, animated and personable approach to teaching. This is not school, we don't have rules. This is a place to learn and excel. It's all the good bits of the Cambridge supervision system without any of the formality or anxiety.

My lessons are either online or in person at my office space at Hoxton. In some circumstances I can travel but this will incur an additional fee.

I also run a number of classes - please get in touch for additional information.
