About Victoria:
I love learning and like helping others to enjoy learning too! I am a friendly, caring and approachable person who will do my best to help you to help yourself.
I have been an Archaeologist for 10 years, having completed both undergraqduate and postgraduate qualifications, and have run interesting, practical tutorials for a number of years both in schools and universities. My primary interests are in science, but I have an excellent all-round knowledge of many subjects. I have a baby boy, several nieces and nephews and love outdoor activities and cooking in my spare time.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Biology, Anatomy, Archaeology, Psychology, Geology and Geography tutorials to university students for 7 years. I have also taken practical tutorials to school children held both in and out of schools. Examples include - Human Evolution, a look at the fossil evidence. Archaeology is Rubbish. Stone Tools - their use and manufacture. Changing Faces - the skulls of our ancestors.
I am currently tutoring students in Geogoraphy and Science subjects at GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer individual or group tuition.
I believe there are several ways in which we learn and I try to find the best way for each individual student and structure the tutorials accordingly. I believe the only way to learn is to understand so I work on the foundations of a subject area so that the student is then enabled to learn independently and to achieve their goals.
I can offer intensive revision in preparation for exams or a more gentle companion tutorial to the student's current curriculum. I can also offer short revision cramming or catch-up courses during school holidays as well as weekly sessions. I am very flexible so please get in touch to discuss your needs further.

Qualifications:
B.Sc. Human Evolution (2.1)
M.Sc. Archaeology (Distinction)
Ph.D. Archaeology (Pending)

About Prashant:
I am currently a medical student studying at Imperial College. Having just finished my 3rd year at medical school, I am now looking forward to tutoring from the youth of 5 years olds to 16-18 year olds preparing for a-levels and setting there sights on further education at University. My strengths lie in maths and the 3 science's subjects which I studied at A-level.
I am a very calm and friendly person, and thrive at helping others in any way or form I can. Being a highly motivated person, I find it very challenging to try and make students of all age achieve their full potential and achieve the success I have so far and beyond.

Teaching Experience:

Through out my educational career I have always tried to tutor those younger then me.
Whilst studying at Broomfield school (New Southgate) I performed as a mentor for students in year 7 and 8 (age 11-13)
When I was in 6 form my teachers happily allowed me to run after school revision sessions for students preparing for their GCSE.
Most recently, during the summer 2006, I was asked to tutor 2 of my GP's children for 4 months.
One of the children was a 7 year old boy, and the other was a 15 year old girl preparing for her GCSE exams.

Besides having valuable experience in teaching, having spent the last year studying at Chelsea and Westminster hospital and interacting with patients, I have gained valuable inter-personal skills and how to make people feel comfortable

Tutoring Approach:

As it has only been a few years ago since I finished my a-levels, I truly do understand how difficult it maybe for students to sometimes find things difficult, boring or just feel hard to get motivated to study. Because of this, my approach to tutoring is to try and make everything as interesting as possible. I always try to make my sessions as interactive as possible, since I believe this is the best way to learn. I generally try to split my sessions into 3 different sections compromising of:
1) First understanding the students knowledge on the topic
2) Teaching the student the topic
3) Providing questions to the student to see how well they have understood
I am also a big believer in having breaks during sessions
e.g. in a 2 hour revision period ill give the student a 10 minute break after 1 hour, making the whole session last 2 hours and 10minutes, but will only charge for 2 hours.

Qualifications:
A-levels Grade A in Maths, Chemistry, Physics
A/S Grade A in biology, Grade B in Geography
GCSE Grade A in Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Information technology and Geography. Grade B in English (Lang and Lit), Biology, Religious Education. Grade C in French
