Personal Description:

I am an experienced Woodwind Teacher able to teach to grade 8 level on Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone (tenor or alto). I can teach ABRSM Traditional and Jazz Syllabuses and Trinity Guildhall Traditional and Jazz Syllabuses. I can also teach grade 5 ABRSM theory.

I teach ALL AGES - children as well as adults!

Complete beginners to grade 8.

Hour Lesson £25 Half Hour Lesson £15 (Travel Supplement: £0.35 per mile up to 20 miles. This won`t apply if I can teach you en route to one of my schools.)

I do teach all ages, but most hours available are during the daytime. Please contact me to see if I can accommodate you.

Teaching Experience:

15 years as classroom teacher at Secondary level, 13 of these as Head of Department.
Private instrumental teacher (children and adults, beginners to advanced) 2000 to present.
Teaching instrumental and music theory lessons at West Norfolk Academy of Music (children and adults, beginners to advanced) 2010 to present.
Flute tutor at Wisbech Grammar School 2011 to present.
Woodwind teacher at Marshland High School 2009 to present.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my lesson to the individual I am teaching. Young children, adults, beginners and advanced all require a different approach. In addition, everyone has their own goal and aspirations. Many of my pupils want to me to take them through ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall music examinations (either Classical or Jazz) but others prefer not to. Some pupils need help with performance pieces for their GCSE Music. Some pupils want theory tuition to enable them to pass their grade 5 ABRSM theory exam and go on to higher grades on a different instrument. Many of my retired adult learners simply want to play for pleasure and are aiming to be able to play a particular piece or in a particular musical style. I am enthusiastic about music teaching and like to encourage everyone to 'have a go' and enjoy making music!

Qualifications:

• PGCE (postgraduate certificate in education) in Music and Creative Arts from Homerton College, University of Cambridge
• Bachelor of Music Degree BMus(Hons) from Goldsmith`s College, University of London
• Clarinet Grade 8, Flute Grade 8
• Saxophone Grade 8, Theory Grade 6
