I was born in Germany to British parents and lived there for 8 years before coming over to the UK to live. I also spent a total of 2 further years over there in Southern and Northern Germany after my A Levels and during my undergraduate degree to further my knowledge, working for OSRAM GmbH and studying at the Freie Universität Berlin.

Teaching Experience:
I graduated with a degree in German and Drama, with First Class Honours, in July 2010, from Queen Mary, University of London and have just completed a PGCE (Secondary) in Modern Foreign Languages (German with French), at the Institute of Education, University of London, also gaining QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) from the GTCE (General Teaching Council for England).

I started my career as a Chemical Engineer and completed my PhD in that subject.

I have been the Head of Accounting since 2006, at a large Catholic Sixth Form College in Hulme, Manchester. I am 46 years old, living in Didsbury, South Manchester. I gained my degree in Economics and Finance in 1998 from Leicester University. I began teaching in 2002 so have many years of experience teaching Accounting.

I mainly offer tuition at my home, or a local library, either at the weekend, or weekday evenings. However, I am usually able to offer tuition during the school/college holidays.

I completed my PGCE at Manchester University in 2002. I only teach Accounting AS and A2 Level, and this is therefore my main specialism. My Father was a Mathematics teacher in London for nearly forty years, which is most likely where I get my boundless enthusiasm for these subjects from! I work very hard to make the delivery of subject material as clear, interesting and precise as possible. Rather than just spoon feed a formula, I go back to first principles and explain in simple terms why a particular piece of theory works and where it came from. However, I do not just talk constantly and let the student sit idle. Success in Maths, Accounting and Economics requires problem solving skills, so in order for the sessions to be beneficial I need the student to engage with me and to attempt questions (with my supervision) when they have enough accumulated knowledge to do so. I fully understand how stressful school/university can be and as such the sessions are not intended to be "just another school lesson", or to put vast amounts of pressure on students: the ultimate aim is to develop a strong working rapport whereby the student feels comfortable, secure and can feel a sense of achievement from their work.

Teaching Experience:
I have 17 years worth of private tuition experience teaching Mathematics, Business, Accounting and Economics courses that begin at Key Stage 3 (Years 11-14), through GCSE, AS & A2 level to first and second year university courses in accounting, mathematics and economics. Whilst at university I also volunteered to take part in weekly workshops where students could come and ask questions in a relaxed, informal atmosphere about homework or problems that they simply were unable to make any headway with.

Tutoring Approach:
During the first session I present a short questionnaire that I ask the student to fill in (honestly!) in order for me to assess their individual learning styles (right brain vs. left brain, use of visual stimuli etc), so that I can respond best to their needs. Every lesson will begin with an outline of the subject content and the intended aims. The key to success in maths and economics is to do it! With that in mind, the vast majority of lessons will entail methodically working through problems and exam style questions to ensure my students are as well prepared for their modules as possible. However, exam success isn't the only concern; I want to nurture and develop a genuine love for Mathematics, Accounting, Business and Economics; one that will encourage the students to read widely and explore new avenues of thought.

I am an experienced and qualified TEFL teacher who is passionate about making a positive difference in others and thoroughly enjoy teaching. I also teach GCSE English students.
I currently have 6 students who have weekly English Zoom lessons with me. The students are from Spain, Romania and England.
I love walking, ballet, reading, history and travelling.
I am outgoing, enthusiastic and organised.
Since moving to Honeybourne, Worcestershire I give regular Yoga classes at the village hall.
My students have gone from strength to strength and 2 of them (both Spanish teenagers) were selected by their school to attend a one week placement at the United Nations earlier this year.

I qualified as a TEFL teacher in 2001 and have been giving regular English lessons to Spanish, Romanian and English students for the past 22 years, in Spain, Italy and the UK. Most classes are private on a one to one basis, but I am more than happy to give group or small classes.

I am also been a ballet and yoga teacher.
