I was the main Portuguese language lecturer at the U. of Manchester for five years full-time, where I taught all levels of Portuguese language (A1/A2 - Beginners; B1/B2 - Intermediate; C1/C2 - advanced). One of the main reasons why I prefer one-to-one teaching is because it allows me to cater each class for each student according to their own interests and specific language requirements. It allows for a more in depth learning and relational process which I find a more rewarding professional context than large multi-ability groups.

Beginner Level:
Student use the "Genki" textbook, start making sentences quickly.

Intermediate Level:
After completing "Genki 1 & 2" students move on to the "Intermediate Japanese Across the four language skills Quartet" to improve conversation, listening and natural expressions.
This prepares them for advanced-level studies.

Student preparing for the JLPT:
Preparing for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) engage in reading level-appropriate books,
practicing sentence patterns, reviewing vocabulary and kanji, and mock tests.

Travel Japanese Focus:
Learn practical Japanese for your trip - greetings, restaurants, shopping, transport and asking for help.
Pronunciation is corrected so you can be understood clearly by native speakers.
Start at least 3 months before your trip to build confidence and enjoy a stress free experience in Japan.
