Personal Description:
I live and work in Northumberland and in the Fife area.

I am employed by both the Open and St Andrews universities as an Associate Lecturer tutoring modules in history and the humanities. I have also worked at other universities teaching history and politics, including Newcastle University.

I am used to working with people outside the formal university environment too as I give talks and presentations to the Joseph Cowen Lifelong Learning Community Interest Company in Newcastle.

I have research interests in history at post-doctoral level, specialising in late nineteenth and early twentieth century British electoral politics.

I am looking to teach students at a higher education level or those aspiring to it. I can work with students at levels including at foundation degree level, at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.

I am looking to work with students studying history, politics or those looking to build study and learning skills for higher education, especially those interested in studying the arts and humanities.

Teaching Experience:

I have over twenty years experience of working at higher education institutions at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

My main teaching has been in the field of British and European history, other humanities subjects at foundation level (including literature, history of art, music, religious studies, history of science and medicine and philosophy) and contemporary politics. I have also specialised in study skills teaching to aid access to further courses, working with students from a broad range of educational experiences.

I regularly provide teaching in the form of lecturers and tutorials, supervision of dissertations and marking of assignments.

Tutoring Approach:

I am familiar with a range of teaching methods and would tailor the support to students on the basis of their requirements.

Much of my work is distance and online learning-related which involves correspondence, online and telephone communication so I am happy to provide this sort of support to students across the country.

I can also meet up with students for face-to-face contact even some distance away if that is suitable.

I am happy to mark work and offer feedback to students, including essay and dissertation work.

Personal Description:
Spanish tutoring that actually works

I am a native Spanish speaker with over ten years of experience teaching Spanish to adults, young learners, and students who have struggled to learn the language despite trying multiple methods before.

Many of my students come to me frustrated. They feel that Spanish is "not for them", that they learn slowly, forget easily, or never feel confident speaking. This is exactly where my work begins.

I do not follow generic programmes or one-size-fits-all methods. Instead, I design a clear learning strategy for each student. I analyse how you have tried to learn before, identify the specific obstacles that are holding you back, and restructure your learning process step by step. This allows us to focus on what truly matters for you, without pressure and at a pace that builds confidence rather than anxiety.

My guarantee is simple: if you commit to the process, you will learn Spanish. Not because I repeat what everyone says about "adapting to your learning style", but because I work systematically on your real difficulties, using calm, structured and personalised strategies that make progress inevitable.

I work especially well with learners who:

Have tried courses, apps or tutors before without success

Feel blocked when speaking or afraid of making mistakes

Learn slowly and need clarity, patience and structure

Want real progress, not just more explanations

My experience teaching Spanish across different levels and contexts allows me to guide you with clarity, realism and confidence. Learning Spanish does not have to be stressful or confusing. With the right strategy, it becomes achievable.

If you are ready to stop trying random methods and start learning with a clear plan that works, I will be glad to help you.

Teaching Experience:

- Private Spanish Tutor, 2010 - Present
- Modern Foreign Language Coordinator and Spanish Teacher, Chiltern Way Federation 2012 - 2014
- Spanish and Italian Teacher, North Chaderton School, Manchester 2010 - 2012
- Freelance Spanish Teacher, European Language Solutions, London Uk. 2009- 2010 / St. George International, London 2006 - 2008.

Tutoring Approach:

How my Spanish tutoring works

My teaching is based on one core principle: people do not fail to learn Spanish, methods do. My role is to identify exactly where the learning breaks down and rebuild the process in a way that works for you.

These are the key elements of my approach:

1. Personalised learning strategy
Before focusing on content, I analyse how you have tried to learn Spanish before and identify the specific difficulties blocking your progress. From there, I create a clear learning strategy tailored to your needs. Each lesson is designed with a purpose, not copied from generic materials.

2. Structured and calm progression
I work at a pace that ensures real understanding. Lessons are carefully structured so that concepts are reinforced, not rushed. This is especially effective for students who feel overwhelmed, anxious or discouraged by language learning.

3. Targeted problem-solving
Rather than covering everything at once, I focus on your weakest areas first. Whether it is speaking, pronunciation, grammar or confidence, we address problems directly and systematically until progress becomes visible and measurable.

4. Cultural context that supports communication
Language cannot be separated from culture. I integrate practical cultural insights that help you understand how Spanish is really used, making communication more natural and effective.

What I can offer you

Tailored Spanish programmes
Lessons are aligned with the Common European Framework and adapted to your goals. I combine structured exercises, guided speaking practice and focused activities that develop all key skills: listening, reading, speaking, writing and pronunciation. This approach works particularly well for learners who benefit from clarity, structure and guided practice.

Focused learning modules
If you already have some knowledge of Spanish and want to improve specific areas, I offer targeted modules such as:

Conversation and fluency

Vocabulary development

Pronunciation and accent clarity

Grammar made clear and usable

Reading comprehension

Writing skills

Exam and entrance preparation

Guaranteed progress for school students
I support children and teenagers who are struggling with Spanish at school or preparing for GCSEs and A-levels. My tutoring focuses on building confidence, correcting gaps in understanding and improving academic performance. With commitment and consistency, progress is guaranteed.

Spanish for business and professional contexts
For professionals, I focus on practical communication skills for meetings, workplace interaction and professional environments. The goal is not perfect Spanish, but confident, effective communication.

Location and flexibility

Lessons can take place at your home, office or another suitable location, creating a comfortable environment that supports focused learning.

If you are willing to commit to the process, I am confident that this approach will help you finally make real progress in Spanish.

Personal Description:
I have been working as a maths tutor since 2011 and online exclusively since 2015. During this period, I have successfully assisted students studying for their GCSE, IB and A-levels as well as their undergraduate modules. This has taken place both privately and while holding external tutoring roles in various London schools. In the online realm, I have worked with students from all over the world, those studying for UK specifications as well as undergraduates in English speaking universities or wishing to attend UK universities. Areas usually covered for undergraduates include analysis and calculus, analytic and differential geometry, financial maths, linear algebra, statistics and probability.

Regarding my tutoring method, I strive to create a well balanced relationship with pupils. I set clear targets for my students and expect them to develop throughout our sessions. Additionally, I emphasize on the suitable approach for each individual in order to have the best results possible. I further consider humour an essential part of my sessions as it creates a better learning environment, eliminates inhibitions, and promotes a more enjoyable session.

Lastly, in my lessons, I put a lot of emphasis on the background knowledge of every topic and method - dry memorising is of no use. Exams aside, analytic skills accompany students throughout their studies in various areas.

I'm very friendly and passionate with what I do. I'm enthusiastic with teaching and especially maths and I am trying to convey this feeling to my students as well. Maths is not plainly something you have to learn but something fun you could learn. Of course we all care about grades but what counts most at the end of the day is the new mindset you have acquired, upon which you can carry on building within any discipline.

On a more personal note, I am a keen yoga practitioner and a performer in contemporary dance. Philosophy is my second passion following mathematics - abstract thinking to the fullest. When time allows, I explore the intersections of philosophy with various disciplines and practices.

Teaching Experience:

Have been working as a maths tutor for pupils taking common entrance, GCSE, IGCSE, IB, A-levels and undergraduates, for the past eight years.

Below there's a selection of past and on going clients:
•Leyla: (17 yo) Home-tutoring for Maths AS-level. Focusing on C1, C2 and S1. Leyla achieved an A.

"Panos is very punctual and has an excellent style of teaching by going through content and various questions related to the content. He also goes the extra mile and sends clear and concise notes based on the content which is extremely helpful in helping you grip the content in the long term. Panos has helped me gain as high as 94% on assessments based on topics which i was failing before i had my lessons with him."

Peiwen 13/04/2018
"I like Panos` way of teaching as he guided me to get closer to the answer with great patience instead of giving me the answer. He also knows where I get stuck and he gives clear explanation to clear the confusion I have! Thank you!"

Kiara 28/02/2018
"Very happy with Panos as a tutor, definitely one of the best decisions I have made. He makes things nice and easy to understand and this is by far the most comfortable online learning experience I`ve had. Helped me get an A* predicted for my undergraduate foundation programme!"

Anna 05/12/2017
"I am studying and require maths as part of my bachelors' degree. My tutor is quick in giving me what is needed. I want to thank him, because he goes above and beyond with his help. Our sessions are online and are very effective."

Tutoring Approach:

I prepare my own summarized notes and handouts which make students' life easy. At the same time I also use text books as well. As I am an accountancy tutor, I know the importance of practice. Therefore I do lots of practice questions and exam focused topics. I have study resources from where I choose material according to students' learning requirements. Main objective is to enable students to apply the theoretical concepts learnt from their academic studies to practical business environment. Normally I start from very basic easy examples and then gradually go towards complex exam questions, so that students get the confidence that they will pass the exams. I also provide online tuition, using shared documents and skype or phones. I send my own study material to students via e mail, communicate with them on skype or phone, they send me their questions or past papers, i solve them and send them scanned solutions, then explain on skype. I always teach my students in a very friendly environment. I tell my students take exams like a tournament and think they are the players, and I m their coach, together we have to make a strategy, a plan to win the game (exam :). I keep motivating my students by telling them you can do it . Champion Attitude : Lets Do IT.

Personal Description:
I have been tutoring students across London in all aspects of Computing since 2015. Having a PhD and a 1st Class Degree in Computer Science from Sheffield University, I have a great deal of experience in everything from general programming to academic research. I worked for a decade as an academic at both Sheffield and Surrey Universities. I have helped many students through their studies at GCSE and A-level, teaching AQA, OCR and CIE syllabuses. I am also happy to teach adult learners who are looking to expand their skillset.

For A-level and GCSE students it is worth beginning tuition as soon as possible, not just in the weeks running up to exams (although this can still help). This is particularly important for Computer Science because students should be learning a programming language in parallel with their studies. Some exam boards require a programming project as coursework, and it is important that this is completed as soon as possible to leave room for exam preparation.

I am happy to help degree students with theory and learning programming, but enquiries asking for help with an assignment for hand in next week are unlikely to be followed up.

I teach:

Programming - C, C++, C#, Java, Javascri pt, Python, Lua, php
Web Technology - HTML, CSS
Computing Theory - Data Structures, Algorithms, Vectors and Matrix Algebra, Computer Graphics, Animation

This is not an exhaustive list, so please do contact me even if your subject is not listed here.

I conduct lessons both in person, and remotely.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught seminars, graded coursework, helped design courses at degree level, and have also tutored students to PhD level.

I have been teaching students online mostly since the beginning of the pandemic. Many students are used to this type of teaching now, and the tools available have made it much more viable. Whilst teaching in person is, in my opinion, superior, the convenience of audio/video calls and the ability to reach more students from more varied backgrounds has been invaluable.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning only happens by doing. Tailoring a course to the students individual requirements and the pace at which they can work.

Personal Description:
I am a QTS qualified, native-Greek speaking teacher with BA in Primary Education and MA in Drama and Theatre Education. I have strong theoretical knowledge and confidence in my practice. During my Master's studies I examined the use of drama as a pedagogic approach in language acquisition for second language learners.
I always devote time researching extensively into specialist bibliography and seek every opportunity to undertake further training in order to achieve my teaching duties.

Teaching Experience:

I have fifteen years teaching experience in Primary schools in Greece, in private tuitions, as well as in Primary, Secondary and Greek Community Schools in the UK. I have been teaching Greek as a Second Language and as a Foreign Language at all levels, from primary students to adult learners with various literacy backgrounds. I am confronted with the challenge to help bilingual and English speaking students build confidence in expressing themselves in Greek and motivate them to become active learners.

Tutoring Approach:

I plan my teaching taking into account special educational needs, cultural background and emotional considerations. I always implement effective intervention plans tailored to my students' individual needs. I prepare educational material and interactive exercises based on modern communicative approaches in order to develop my students' language skills.
I organise my lesson plans in creative and inspiring ways using drama as educational tool. I believe in drama as a way of learners' language acquisition, as it helps them get engaged in communication situations with cultural and social dimensions.

I also facilitate online workshops for learning Greek through drama games, stories and songs for students 4-8 year old every Monday at 18:00 (£7 per student).

Personal Description:
I am a female primary school teacher in the Doncaster/Wakefield area. Aside from my enthusiasm for teaching and helping children to achieve, I am interested in academic areas including sociology and languages. I enjoy travel and reading. I have worked voluntarily as a teaching assistant and completed a degree in Sociology before training to be a teacher. I have also recently (September 2019) completed a Master's in Social History. I now work as a supply teacher in primary and SEN schools and as a personal tutor to primary and secondary level children up to year 9. I hold an enhanced DBS check dated September 2015.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified primary school teacher who has taught classes of all ages at primary level. I also regularly work with secondary SEN students who are not in mainstream education. As a supply teacher, I have worked in many different schools and, as such, I develop positive relationships very quickly with both children and adults. I enjoy working with individuals and small groups in academic tasks and find that children are very responsive to this lower teacher-pupil ratio. I have found that working in these situations really helps to boost children's concentration and confidence in their work. They also feel more comfortable to ask questions in areas they find difficult. When tutoring, I am to create a positive, friendly and professional relationship where children feel comfortable with what they are learning, but also feel they can ask for help when required.

Tutoring Approach:

I recognise that children learn in many different ways - some by seeing and visualising, some by talking and discussing, and some by doing a physical or mental activity. I aim to tutor children using the learning style that best suits them. In a classroom, it is often difficult to meet the needs of every child. Personal tuition provides children with valuable one-to-one time, where the focus is on them and them alone. I believe that personal tuition does much to increase achievement in those weaker areas, but also serves to challenge and develop knowledge in stronger areas. Following an initial consultation, I provide personalised programmes of study tailored exactly to meet the needs of the child involved. I am passionate about helping children to reach their full potential and will do all I can to make this happen. Sessions take place in the child's own home and are arranged on a flexible basis with parent or guardian. I am able to provide tuition from 1 hour per week to more intensive programmes consisting of several hours per week in the school holidays.

I currently have slots available on weekday evenings. Please note, I do not usually tutor on Saturdays or Sundays.

Teaching Experience:

Over the last 5 years I have been teaching Maths from within my own home.

Tutoring Approach:

The goal of each and every lesson is to make the sessions as interactive as possible. By engaging pupils at every opportunity, the lessons become really enjoyable with the students learning an awful lot more than if they were simply to be handed workbooks. There are many tutors that will take this approach and just watch a student go at it, I prefer to be much more involved! I also make new learning games everyday and this is a big reason why my students have been so successful at all ages.

I am a PhD Student in Mathematics and have an MSc in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Simulation, MSc in Applied Mathematics.

I have international experience in a different country and therefore, can easily relate to people of different culture and race.
I can work as a problem solver, helping students build an understanding of areas they are currently studying and guide them through challenging aspects. This is particularly useful in Maths and mechanics as a large part of studying these subjects is done by solving problems.

Personal Description:
I have been passionate about maths since early childhood. I spent a decade as a fully qualified maths teacher, teaching GCSE maths and A-level (including further maths) to pupils from a wide variety of abilities, backgrounds and cultures. I semi-retired five years ago and have since tutored a number of pupils for A-level and GCSE. I have a first class honours maths degree from Oxford University and teaching certificate in maths for secondary education.

Teaching Experience:

After 20 years spent working in industry, I trained as a secondary school teacher (teaching years 7 to 11), and then spent nearly ten years teaching maths in a post-16 school in the Greenwich Borough. There I taught A-level (both maths and further maths) and also GCSE maths for pupils resitting. The pupils I taught were of a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and cultures. A large number of my GCSE resit pupils were successful in raising their grades to a C (or now a 4). Pupils were keen to be in my class.

I semi-retired around five years ago and have done a fair amount of tutoring of A-level and GCSE maths pupils, from a fairly basic level up to A level further maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I do not have any available slots free at present. I try to keep this list up-to-date. I will probably be retiring in July 2026, so it may not be possible to continue past that date.

I believe in a very individualised approach, concentrating on identifying and improving the areas a pupil struggles with. My experience in school has helped me learn a variety of methods for teaching particular topics, and which ones are most likely to be successful. Practice outside of lessons is key to success in maths, and tutoring needs to be in addition to full attendance and participation in school lessons, homework and additional sessions schools offer, and is absolutely not a replacement for these activities.

Since the pandemic started in 2020, all of my teaching has been online (via Skype, although I am happy to use other products if necessary). This has worked surprisingly well.

As it is slightly more difficult to explain things when you are not face-to-face, and also do not have travel time and costs, I usually go a little over the hour (75-90 minutes) but charge the normal rate for a one hour lesson.

For the protection of my elderly mother-in-law, I will need to continue with all lessons online for the foreseeable future.

I am happy to tutor pupils as often or infrequently as desired, and do not charge for cancelled lessons (provided I am informed in sufficient time to avoid a wasted journey). Pupils are free to leave at any time if they feel they have achieved everything they set out to achieve, or that things are not working out.

I do not have any available slots free at present. I try to keep this list up-to-date. I will probably be retiring in July 2026, so it may not be possible to continue past that date.

With the advent of the coronavirus, for the protection of my elderly mother-in-law, I am only teaching pupils via Skype (or similar packages). For the safeguarding of pupils under 18 a parent should be in attendance whether the lesson is online or face-to-face.
