I am a self employed Piano and Keyboard teacher with over 20 years teaching experience. I am an ex pupil of the late Mr. Desmond Greef MBE and have Grades 1-8 ABRSM Piano and Grade 5 ABRSM Theory.

Teaching Experience:
I have over 20 years teaching experience and currently run a music studio in Kings Lynn teaching both ABRSM Piano and LCM Keyboard on both an individual basis and group tuition. I also have experience working in schools teaching small groups and individually.

Tutoring Approach:
I teach both ABRSM Piano and LCM Keyboard to all ages and abilities both on an individual basis and group lessons. I am able to offer all styles of music from classical to pop and also teach Grade 5 Theory.

After leaving school, I studied at Nottingham University for a BA in Music, then for a MA in Theology from the London School of Theology. Having worked for a while at an inner-city secondary school, I went on to complete a research masters and a PhD in Biblical Studies, whilst working as a teaching affiliate at Nottingham University. I have since moved to Stourbridge to work in a local church whilst continuing academic research and writing. My own interests are principally in theology, philosophy and politics, but also the arts and culture. I am married, have five children, and am a keen football fan (Manchester United).

I'm happy to be flexible in my approach depending on the particular needs of each student. I'm happy to concentrate on what is needed to get good grades, but alse believe that education is about more than being able to pass exams! I have worked hard for my qualifications and belive in disciplined, productive study; however for some students getting the highest possible grade is not necessarily the most important thing. I am convinced that one-to-one tuition is by far the most efficient way in which a person can progress and gain confidence. Often someone can grasp a topic in 5 minutes of one-to-one that would have taken 2 hours to cover with a larger group. Once you are confident with a topic, we move on rapidly to the next one. A current A level tutee of mine told his father "I learnt more in that 2 hour session than I have all term at school" and his headteacher wrote to congratulate him on his improved grades. (The reason for this is not that his teacher is bad, far from it, but a tutor can give you personal one-to-one attention, concentrating on the bits you need) I always ensure that the learners are confident with each step before progressing further.

I'm a certified teacher working as a tutor for students in Norfolk and across the UK. In university I completed a specialist in psychology, while also minoring in English literature. I also completed my teachers' training, specialising in English, as well as excelling in teaching maths and technology. Here is a list of the subjects and levels I tutor:

I mainly focus on online tuition, delivered using Skype or other platforms. While most of my online students are in KS3, GCSE and A-Level (and degree students for psychology), this option can work for students who are in year 4 and above, so long as they are familiar with the basics of using computers. For maths, I make use of Idroo, an online whiteboard which is useful for practicing questions. For computing, I am able to assist with programs relevant to both Microsoft Windows and Chromebook.

Teaching Experience:
I started working as a tutor in London and Surrey in 2013/2014, mainly for students who had been excluded from school. In 2015 I relocated and began tutoring private clients in East Anglia. In 2016 I started offering online tuition, first using Skype, and now with Zoom. I now tutor virtually all of my students online, though I will occasionally tutor at a student's home when my schedule permits.

Tutoring Approach:
For younger students, I assess them on their first appointment to see where their strengths and weaknesses are. I then focus the lessons on the areas they need improvement in, using an individualized approach that is suitable for that particular student. I also help students prepare for examinations, such as the GCSE; in this case I mostly focus on giving them tasks and questions that resemble what they will face on their tests.

For A-level and degree students, I'm usually asked to provide assistance with a specific task. For example, I've helped my students construct outlines in order to structure their essays, answer typical questions that will come up on their exams, and proof read their essays to check content, clarity and grammar. Hello, I'm Ruben and I've just started my career as a science tutor. Having recently graduated from the university of Bristol (BSc in Biology with first class honours) I'm now tutoring KS4 and A-level Biology for both young and adult learners.

I have experience as a research intern for labs at the University of Bristol and the University of Newcastle, and I'm currently volunteering as a part-time researcher for the London-Based Social enterprise 'Mapping for change'. In September I will be starting a research masters in evolutionary biology at UCL & the Natural History Museum, London.

I have no official science tutoring experience to date. I was however leading regular revision sessions and presentations for my peers during my undergraduate degree, and have been regularly child-minding for a number of families in the last year.

Above all I aim for a co-operative learning environment, and to create sessions which suit the learning style of the tutee. A session starts by devising learning aims which are both worthwhile and manageable. My lesson plans then combine two approaches. For new material, I introduce concepts though existing knowledge, examples and written exercises. I prepare high quality notes for each syllabus to be used for independent study. In preparation for exams, sessions will involve working through past paper questions & developing exam technique. I graduated from the University of Nottingham in June 2012 with a degree in mathematics, with honours. I also attained A, A and B in my maths, further maths and physics A Levels, respectively.

Since graduating, I have worked in finance departments and technology, while tutoring part-time. Because my passion for helping others with their maths has grown, I have been tutoring full-time for over a year now.

Everyone learns at a different pace and in different ways. My primary goal is to listen and communicate well with each student, so that I can really understand their needs and cater for them; in turn, they get the most out of each lesson. Furthermore, I actively engage each student with what they need (or want) to learn, as opposed to them taking a back seat. I encourage students to ask lots of questions because it gives an opportunity to discuss and challenge what they know.

I motivate students to want to learn and to do well. One thing I do differently from others is I explain how what they are learning is relevant to the real world. I have found that this makes it more exciting, interesting and enjoyable for the student, and they tend to engage more in the lessons. I try and strike a balance between motivating students, but not stressing them out too much.

Working through many examples from the syllabus is important and reinforces what the student has learned. I ensure this aspect of learning is both challenging and productive, ultimately getting the student closer towards their goal of achieving a high grade in their exams.

I am efficient with time management so that each student gets the most out of each lesson. I strongly encourage them to spend time outside of the session learning, including setting them homework, because this is where they will make their biggest strides forward.
