Personal Description:
Tutoring has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had over the last five years. There is nothing quite like taking on a new student, watching their confidence grow, and helping them unlock opportunities for their future. Hearing feedback from students and parents - whether it's how much they enjoyed a session or that they achieved a new top mark - is a wonderful reminder of why I love teaching. Having recently completed my degree, I am excited to dedicate even more time and focus to delivering the highest quality support for my tutees.
On a personal note, I spent six years growing up in Uganda, an experience that gave me a real appreciation for the value of education. Raised in a "maths household", I've always loved the subject and pursued it to the highest academic level - recently graduating with a First Class Degree (with Distinction) in Mathematics & Statistics, alongside achieving two awards for my final-year research project. Beyond tutoring, I am now pursuing my own goals in the field of Statistics as I look to combine my love of maths with my second passion - Football.
From GCSE fundamentals to advanced degree-level modules, my goal is to make complex mathematics clear, manageable, and engaging. By combining high-level subject expertise with a patient, practical approach, I ensure every student leaves our sessions feeling confident and inspired to reach their full potential.
Teaching Experience:
I have been a maths tutor for the last 5 years, teaching remotely with students taking their SATs, GCSEs, and A-levels as well as individuals who are taking University exams. I have worked with over 20 tutees and I am well equipped to guide students through the exam season with both new study and revision, alongside important exam technique and strategy.
Tutoring Approach:
I deliver online lessons using an interactive whiteboard, tailored specifically to how each student engages with their maths. My goal is simple: to help students build confidence, master content, and achieve to the best of their ability. At the end of each lesson, I guide students on targeted practice material. For GCSE students, this includes access to my updated 5-a-week practice program.
Success in tutoring is a team effort. My role is to transfer my knowledge and skills onto my students, keep them on track, and give them the support they need both in and out of sessions. In return, I ask that students stay committed and practise between sessions. By building this strong working dynamic, we consistently meet, or exceed, target grades and develop a new confidence for learning that my students can take with them into their next phase.
