Personal Description:
I am a qualified Industrial Engineer from University College Galway, Ireland (1978)
I qualified as a secondary school teacher from King's College London (2000).
I have worked as an IT developer for many years.
I have worked in Hamburg and speak fluent German.
Teaching Experience:
I have worked in inner London state secondary schools for ten years.
I have taught mathematics at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 to pupils over the entire ability range.
I have taught Pure, Statistics and Mechanics to A-Level pupils
I have also tutored extensively over a number of years.
Tutoring Approach:
Most pupils are focused on a particular examination and I never lose sight of this fact.
However, I like to demonstrate how mathematics is applied in the real world.
I am especially interested in using software such as Cabri, Autograph, Microsoft Excel etc to demonstrate mathematical points.
I have considerable knowledge of online both free and subscription mathematical websites.
This helps pupils between lessons to either prepare for a future lesson or build up confidence in topics already covered. I have extensive experience of KS3, KS4 and KS5 examination systems.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying English Literature at the University of Edinburgh. I love reading, writing and reading some more. I also enjoy sketching while listening to music. I am a frank person, have an straightforward approach to everything in life and like people to behave the same way with me (which always does not happen). I love to have a laugh, but don't worry, I can be serious when needed( for example, when teaching your children English and History).
Teaching Experience:
While I have never tutored for money, I have an extensive tutoring experience. I volunteered to teach illiterate students English as a part of a volunteering program from my high school in India and have been a part of that program for the past two years. I also used to tutor my two siblings in History, Geography and English.
Tutoring Approach:
I feel that children learn best in a stress free environment. If they feel it is fun and challenging, they will be more willing to learn than if they feel it to be an obligation. English is an easy subject and children enjoy learning it, once they realize the joys that English has to offer. History can be challenging due to the vast amounts one has to learn by heart but steady habit of writing down answers to questions helps more than reading the material ten times. Other than that, History is a vastly interesting subject which helps us understand the workings of the present society and of course, knowledge about our ancestors. Geography is relatively straightforward subject. A lot of practice and a dedicated perusal of it should be enough to get good scores. While it can be relatively dry, it can be made interesting with pictures and videos.I focus on exam technique, past papers as well as text work (English Lit.)

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Gemma and I am a 32 year old doctor, chartered accountant, strategy consultant and successful start up founder. I graduated in medicine from Nottingham University in 2016, switched to finance, became a qualified chartered accountant, and now work for one of the 'Big4' in health advisory and strategic consulting. However, my heart will always lie with the sciences, and somehow in amongst all of my wide ranging career, my favourite job has always been teaching.
I have been tutoring maths and science (chemistry, biology, physics) to GCSE level for several years, and more recently maths and biology to A level standard. I have experience with ages 6-18 (and a few adults as well!), as well as with children with autism and ADHD.
I tutor because I love it, and watching people's confidence grow as they start to reach their full potential is so rewarding.
I have A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Biology and French, and Geography AS Level, all at grade A*/A. 12A*s at GCSE, including all the sciences. I have a BMedSci (Medical Sciences degree) and a BMBS (full medical qualification) from Nottingham University. Also an ICAEW Chartered Accountant (ACA) because I have a penchant for collecting letters after my name, and then changing careers... My parents are joking I should go into law next, but I think that's enough exams for a while!
I charge £50 an hour.
Full CRB/DBS check.
Do get in contact if you think I can help or if you have any questions!
Teaching Experience:
Tutoring experience for over 10 years with a 100% pass rate. Have taught ages from 6-18 (plus adults for piano and maths). I have had pupils for chemistry, biology, physics, maths, or a combination of them. (Generally we start with one... and then I end up helping with everything!)
Founder and co-ordinator of university peer mentor and support scheme. First aid and life support trained. Full CRB/DBS checks.
Tutoring Approach:
Informal, friendly and flexible approach (usually with tea and cake!). My aim is to improve results and get pupils interested in the subject by adapting the teaching style to a way that works for them. There is always another way to explain something! I tailor each session to the individual student's needs, whilst remaining exam focussed with a big emphasis on understanding, rather than rote learning. No question is a stupid question: I very much remember the feeling of sitting in the back of a classroom not understanding a thing, and I wish I had had someone to field my "stupid" questions! I am big believer that if pupils don't understand something, it's on me to keep trying, until we find a way to make it make sense. The thing I've loved most is seeing pupils transform from "hating" subjects they found difficult to being really chuffed with their results in class (and even going on to choose it as a higher study option) because they now understand it and seeing their joy is the reason I continue to teach!
I have really enjoyed establishing great relationships with pupils in the past, many of whom I am still in contact with now, whether it's to call and ask me questions over the phone or simply to let me know how they're getting on. I've also provided pupils with references, interview practice (especially medical interviews) and personal statement help. I work with the pupil to whatever they need - I have been known to tutor until the small hours the night before a GCSE maths exam, review homework over whatsapp and answer phone calls after bedtime! More than anything, I love helping pupils find their ceiling and reach their potential, whatever that might be. I am here to help - no matter what that looks like.

Personal Description:
I have over 15 years teaching experience, the majority of my work has been at secondary level, where my specialisms are Drama, English, English Literature, Film studies and History. However, I also have extensive experience in primary education where I have taught across the breadth of the curriculum.
My preoccupation with academia was nurtured at a competitive Grammar School, RGS Worcester, a top school with high expectations. I went on to acquire a first class degree. I remain now, as I have always been, a high achiever.
I also work in the creative arts, as actor, tutor and director, inspired by performance art in all its forms. My current artistic interests include revising classics, puppetry, theatre in non-traditional spaces, and working as a freelance drama consultant to help smaller scale theatre companies realise their artistic aims and consolidate their working practices.
Recreationally I enjoy martial arts, exercise and the outdoors. As an avid reader I am particularly drawn to epic literature and sprawling worlds, beguiling first person narratives, comparative religious and spiritual studies, psychology, philosophy and history.
Teaching Experience:
Secondary Level Education:
- I worked for 6 years as a secondary school teacher, delivering Drama and English lessons, including GCSE and 'A' level, from year 7- year 13.
-I devised and delivered a formal curriculum to teach Year 9 Drama (in line with Key Stage Guidelines).
-Extensive experience in coursework, marking, moderation and exam preparation.
-On 2 separate occasions, following Ofsted observations, I was given an 'Outstanding' classification (the highest classification).
-Quantitative end of term reports always placed my classes amongst the highest in terms of achievement and student retention.
'A' level Education:
-I taught for 6 years at 2 different Further Education Colleges. I taught English Literature, Drama and Film Studies 'A' level.
-Students were offered extra-curricular tutorials to help them achieve their desired results according to their own set of educational needs.
-I emboldened students for university entrance with interview techniques, UCAS procedures and university level preparation.
-The coursework I devised with students for their final A2 Drama and Theatre Studies was picked up as an exemplar of excellent practice, and is still used to this day by Edexcel examination board.
Primary:
-I devised a range of workshops, and delivered these to selected primary schools. These workshops raised literacy levels, written and oral communication. They were delivered to year 4, year 5 and year 6 students.
-My work with Redditch Borough Council as Literacy and Outreach Officer earned me an 'Outstanding personal Achievement Award'.
Adult Education:
-I've worked with young people trying to get back into education following exclusion, this involved working with charities like CentrePoint.
-I often work with adult learners re-taking their GCSE English.
-Postgraduate students have sought my help in the past, particularly International Students looking to improve the precision of their essays.
University Level:
-Delivering Theatre and Drama lectures, seminars and workshops to students at university level, including The University of Birmingham, University of Worcester, University of Bristol, and University of Warwick.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring involves the mutual balance of 2 equally important intentions: a sensitive awareness of what a student needs and establishing a conducive rapport.
I have a flexible communication style, informed by exposure to hosts of different students, I am adaptable and responsive, a necessity built on the recognition that effective learning can only happen when tutor and student understand each other, and are mutually inspired.
At first, my focus with a new student is to provide gentle provocations on different aspects of the subject matter- a process which allows me to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie, also allowing the student to start seeing the subject matter from varying perspectives, and to extend their range of problem-solving and communication strategies.
My approach always depends on the specific needs of the student, most commonly students ask for:
-Information building and comprehension
-Essay writing technique
-Filling in historical/ social/ political or cultural context to areas of study (particularly at 'A' level)
-Response to examination questions
-Improving literacy level, reading and comprehension, grammar (particularly at primary level)
-Extending and developing powers of expression
You will find me a generous tutor, I am not a clock watcher, it does not matter, for instance, if a class runs over. I will work hard for you between lessons, marking, researching, and developing new lessons and academic exercises. My tutoring style is tempered by profound understanding and experience of examination board and national curriculum requirements. Moreover, my many years working as an educator entailed the need to develop a flexible range of teaching strategies correspondent to the varying learning preferences of my students.
Some recent feedback:
'I wish you had been my tutor before, I feel a lot more confident'
(Chitra, GCSE English, Adult Learner)
'Great attitude and rapport with my son very engaging'
(Sarah, mother of 'A' level; Film and Studies student)
'We are delighted to have Chris helping my daughter and her friend with the written exam In the last few weeks of their Drama and Theatre `A ` level. Inspiring, flexible, fun -knowledgeable about the plays, their history and context- he is a fantastic tutor.'
(Felicity, mother of 'A' level Drama and Theatre Studies student)

I wanted to express my thanks again. I have no doubt that LS would not have achieved a level 5 without your tutoring, and it had been left to the school. I had every faith that LS was capable if he applied himself and had the right teaching and guidance but could not see him getting what he needed from the school. He did it. Thanks to you.

E has improved a lot lately with V's help. V is really good at teaching (E's mother)
I wanted to drop you a line to thank you personally for all the help and support you have given L over the last few months. Whatever the outcome is she couldn't have done it without your coaching. Her work has definitely improved which wouldn't have happened had she continued with just the support school gave her. So thank you.( L's mother)

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher from Thessaloniki, Greece. I am a graduate of the Hellenic American Union (Department of Translation and Linguistics). After many years of studying and attaining professional and academic qualifications, I commenced my professional teaching career in my home country. For 20 years I worked as a full time teacher of English and Greek, tutoring both children and adults, providing both online and face-to-face classes according to the needs of my students. Now, based in the UK, I continue to provide the same educational services to children and adults within my city and the surrounding area as well as farther afield by special arrangement. I also continue to teach online.
Teaching Experience:
1. Freelance Greek Language Tutor at Defence Centre for Languages and Culture, Defence Academy of the UK (MOD)
2. Modern Greek and English Tutor (Online Classes)
Teach Modern Greek and English as foreign languages
I teach the following levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, Advanced, Proficient, Business / Professional. I also support students in their attainment of the following qualifications: GCSE Modern Greek, A Level Modern Greek / English, ΕΛΛΗΝΟΜΑΘΕΙΑ (ELLINOMATHEIA - Certificate of Attainment in Greek).
3. Modern Greek and English Tutor (Face-to-Face Classes)
Teach Modern Greek and English as foreign languages
I teach both Modern Greek and English at all levels.
I teach the following subjects: Speaking, Grammar, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Modern Greek Literature, Modern Greek Texts, Greek History and Culture, Listening Comprehension.
4. Freelance Translator: (Modern Greek / English)
Tutoring Approach:
As a teacher with 20 years professional experience I continuously strive to build rapport with my students, creating a trusting atmosphere and paying constant attention to individual strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. I offer a tailored learning experience in which the lesson is a dynamic and interactive process. I am very proud of my students and I adore my job. It always makes me very happy to see them making progress, constantly advancing in their understanding of the language and attaining further self-confidence in its application, and I never cease to be amazed by how much one's life changes when one masters a new language. Equally exciting for me is the way in which new opportunities open up for my students both in their personal and professional lives.
In my current teaching role, I am often asked to provide teaching programmes focused on Greece's culture, civilization, Ancient and Modern History, geography, customs, societal values and traditions.

Personal Description:
Hello! Hola! My name is Fernando and I am a Spanish teacher. Born in Valencia (Spain) I have completed my degree in English Studies and specialised in the teaching of foreign languages. I have been working as a teacher of languages (both English and Spanish) for three years now, and I hope to keep doing it for many more.
I am:
- Responsible.
- Empathetic.
- Flexible.
- Punctual.
- Hard-working.
- Curious.
- And all the personality-traits needed to be a good teacher.
Teaching Experience:
I have been working as a Spanish teacher in the following places:
- Coventry University (from Oct. 2016 to May 2017).
- Fundación CEPAIM (from Oct. 2017 to Aug. 2019).
- Royal Leamington Spa College (from Sept. 2019-December 2020).
- Aberystwyth University (from January 2021)
Apart from that, I have worked as an English teacher in Helen Doron Picanya since March 2018 to July 2019. Experience with children, teeangers and adults.
References available under request.
Tutoring Approach:
As a tutor, I try to be flexible in my approach to adapt to my students' needs. Most of the time I try to be as clear as possible in the explanation of the grammar so it serves a purpose communicatively. Therefore, I put an emphasis on grammar and communicative practice, both related to one another.
My main objective is to make my lessons engaging and interesting, always specially tailored for the needs of the students.
I can also bring my own teaching material or use that of the student.

Personal Description:
I'm Andrea an italian man with a long academic background in cyber security. Actually I'm on the last year of a PhD in cyber security.
English its my second language, I'm italian mothertongue and my knowledge of italian is very high level without any particular accent.
I'm a person who like to share knowledge and help other people to better understand other cultures and particular arguments.
I love to have nice conversations and feel the lovely side of any culture.
Teaching Experience:
I haven't teaching experiences just a couple of times in university with a group of guys to share VIVA and projects ideas.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring can be to check some homeworks in italian language or simply help someone to have a correct conversation fixing pronunciation or common grammar errors.
