I very much enjoy helping students understand and enjoy learning the concepts in Biology and chemistry needed to succeed in passing GCSE and A-level courses.( also Higher and Nat 5 courses in Scotland).

Teaching Experience:
I taught for 18 years as Assistant Curriculum Leader in Science at Clydebank College in Glasgow. I also taught a second year and third year university course in Biology with the Open University from 1998 to.2003. Following retirement from full-time teaching, I worked part-time as a Lab Leader with the first year B.Sc.Biology students for 5 years.

Tutoring Approach:
I can make use of a variety of resources, including written course materials, videos and animations available online and use of a whiteboard to explain calculation methods, to help students understand and learn course work. I feel it is important to adapt my teaching approach to meet the needs of each individual student.

I have taught English in Scottish secondary schools for 32 years and Media for the last six.

Teaching Experience:
See above. I am experienced in the teaching of BGE and senior phase: N5, Higher and Advanced Higher English.
I have been an SQA marker for 17 years, marking Higher Portfolio and Critical Reading.

Tutoring Approach:
I prefer to tutor one to one in the tutee's home. Happy to switch to online if that is requested. I believe that building a tutee's confidence is the first step on the road to success.
