I am an experienced, friendly and approachable lady working on a freelance basis and am still involved with High School teaching in the Leeds area. I worked in industry before deciding to fulfil my ambition to become a teacher.


My experience as a private tutor has been extremely rewarding over the years and I have seen every one of my students go from strength to strength, and am proud to say that they have all enjoyed the one to one experience.

Teaching Experience:
I have twenty years' experience of teaching English in High Schools -class teaching and one to one tuition. My expertise also incorporates teaching English as a second language having gained a Trinity qualification in Barcelona.
Over the years I have had considerable success with a variety of students, improving achievement levels and GCSE grades.

Tutoring Approach:
I am a very friendly person who tries to make learning fun. I understand the frustrations of young people who are demotivated and struggling to make sense of the English curriculum. My view is that there has to be a two way process and I will encourage the student to develop independent learning skills.

Practising a holistic approach allows young people to achieve their full potential through an appropriate tailor-made study plan. This will support their individual needs and requirements for personal and educational development.

Bonjour! I am a French National, originally from Beauvais ,a beautiful medieval town , 80km north of Paris.
A graduate from Amiens University with a BA in English Literature & Civilization, I also studied Fashion Design & Illustration in the international Paris American Academy.

I trained and worked in London for several years, before moving to N.Ireland.
In search of calm and beauty, we now live near peaceful meadows, a mere 5 minutes drive from Banbridge, a 20 minute drive from Newry and 40 minutes from Belfast.

I constantly marvel at the multitude of walks by the sea or mountains, close to our house. With children and dog in tow, what better way to capture the beauty of life.

Not to forget the great pleasure to be able to divide my time between French Tuition and my love of Painting : "La belle vie" !

Teaching Experience:
I began teaching as a French Language Assistant, in the North of England. In the 90's , I moved to London and worked in two secondary schools. I taught 11-16 yrs old pupils, as well as being in charge of GCSE exam preparation.

Until recently, I worked in a Grammar School in N.Ireland and took great dedication in preparing my A-Level Students for the final year examination. I endeavoured to instill in them confidence with oral practice, while providing extra help with the completion of their discussion.

Immersing my Students with French Culture and insightful knowledge about French life and way of thinking, have proved greatly useful to their studies. It helped them understand French Literature with greater clarity, especially when books, such as "L'etranger " by Albert Camus, were placed into historical and social context.
Having studied French literature at A-Level and as a module within my degree in English literature, I am well versed with the subtleties of the French language for essay writing.


Students benefit greatly from my cultural knowledge as a French Native and are able to understand the topics in their curriculum with a depth that can only be provided by a French National. My expertise with the French language is equally wide ranged : from formal /literary written or spoken French to casual and daily modern French.
As I understand the evolution of French as a modern language, I am able to advise Students with the appropriate use of wording, in various social or cultural contexts.


Alongside school, I continued with my Home Tuition Practice and I now exclusively teach privately. From GCSE, A-Level or University Students, I strive to cover all aspects of the curriculum.
As part of my teaching method, I regularly include intensive grammar revision with explanation, and exercises followed by oral practice to cement knowledge.

With my many years of experience, I have successfully devised my own teaching material. Thus creating a list of unusual expressions to maximize my Students exam results. Further notes have been compiled for difficult topics such as the environment and other topics to increase their knowledge.
Students' pronunciation has also benefited from techniques I developed throughout the years, to help them understand the difference in sounds.

Beside school and academic achievements,I have had the privilege to teach many Adult Beginners who were retiring to France. For this purpose, I devised entire courses best suited to assist their individual needs. Each course was aimed at giving them a good grounding for the language and to constitute a vital building block for daily French life. In other words "a survival guide".

My French skills have also been very productive with translations and drafting of documents for French Banks, Builders, Water or Electricity Companies. Moreover my work has included important phone calls to France, prior to my retired Students departure which smoothed their transition abroad.

Each experience with a new Student has a uniqueness. It is always an immense delight to see the progress accomplished on whichever path they choose.
Most rewarding as a Tutor is to see my Students develop fluency and authenticity with the French language while appreciating its full beauty.

After finishing my A level in Weymouth, Dorset, I then went to Essex University in Colchester to study Science. Ater getting my first degree, I then decided to do a masters Degree in Chemistry and passed. In my University days, I have always loved Maths and Science and in my first year at University, I did Physics, Chemistry and Maths. I have a very high understanding of Maths because of my passion for Maths and I have solve several problems in Maths, Physics and Chemistry up to A level. I am very passionate about numbers and anything that has numbers in it, I will solve. My chemical knowledge is absolutely unbelievable. I have been taeching Chemistry and Maths longer than A level Physics but I teach A level Physics in my current School. I actually started teaching as soon as I left University in 1993. In those days, I did not have teaching qualification. I then decided to get some experience outside education. After gaining experience in Industries, I decided to get back into teaching and took my teaching qualification. I am now a fully qualified teacher and then started teaching again in September 2007. My strength in teaching has always been on a one to one basis. I do teach in a Grammar School at the moment but I always prefer to teach on a one to one basis because I enjoy helping individual student's as each student's requirement is different and you can't properly help individual student's in a class of 30 students. I'm a 19-year-old tutor in Sheffield/London, who has been tutoring GCSE for over a year now during my gap year! I genuinely believe there is no better way to teach than to be relatable and reassuring. I've tutored four students during my gap year for 4 students consistently from November to May, helping my students build comfort and confidence in their subject choices. I've tutored both boys and girls aged 14-16 and they have achieved all grades 7+ in the subject I have tutored.

I tend to start my tutoring with warm-up questions relating to the previous session as a mini tester for memory. To keep track of content during the session I tend to switch between teaching and worksheets, making sure the student doesn't feel like they're at boring old school again haha. Towards the end, I'll do a brief summary and tester questions on what we've learnt to do.

It also depends on where we are at during the school term where typically towards the end I will focus on past papers more and constantly redirect the students to more resources to help them.

I am a contemporary artist with over 14 years of experience in fine art, encompassing drawing (pencil and charcoal), oil painting, sculpting, and stone and wood carving. My expertise is rooted in six years of dedicated study in traditional, academic, and anatomical clay modelling, which has provided a strong foundation for my artistic journey.

I hold a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Edinburgh (2019) and a Bachelor of Arts from the Art Academy of Latvia (2017). Over the years, I have explored a wide range of materials in my sculpting practice, including clay, plaster, foam, polyester resin/fibreglass, wood, metal, stone, and fabrics. My extensive knowledge extends to mould-making and bronze casting, with a particular focus on creating silicone and plaster moulds. I am a highly qualified, very experienced tutor of all aspects of English, with many testimionials (please ask for details). I teach all abilities and levels, and have high standards both professionally and personally. I teach lower secondary, GCSE and IGCSE (all boards), A level English Literature, English Language, and also Language and Literature. I have been teaching English for 25 years, across a range of levels and contexts, and have worked as an A level examiner (senior and principal) for over 15 years. I ran the GCSE provision in a local FE college for 5 years, along with A level and Access to HE teaching at the same college. While I studied for my PhD (in Shakespeare's language) at the University of Birmingham I taught both Shakespeare and introduction to Linguistics at that university and several others in the region, at undergraduate and masters level.
