Teaching Experience:

I am Head of Physics at a NW London secondary school. I teach A-Level Physics and all other Sciences up to GCSE level. I am also the Director of E-Learning for my school and use new technologies extensively in my classroom.

I teach English full time in a local secondary school and have a very strong record of raising pupils' attainment. I qualified as a teacher in 2006, having taken my PGCE at Homerton College in Cambridge. Since then I have been working in a local comprehensive school, teaching English full time. Part of my job is preparing students for their SATs in English (including the Shakespeare element, which seems to be the section which causes most concern!), GCSE English and English Literature and A Level English Literature. I have marked both GCSE English and English Literature for OCR and AQA. I have undertaken private tutoring in the past with some of my own students, but now feel ready to diversify!

Teaching is about enabling someone to think for himself. In history it is about helping someone to gather information and then to make sense of it. As a teacher it is important to concentrate on what is relevant to the exam. People learn most in a calm and serious atmosphere.

I have completed a secondary music school in Poland, which is like having A-levels in music plus beeing quallified to teach music. I have also passed Cambridge Certificate of Profficiency in English. Both, music and English have been my passions since I was a child.
I was born to teach, I might say. I have the abbility to explain things the way they seem simple.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching English for 28 years now, teaching it to all age groups, from the begginner to advanced levels. All my students can communicate in English, not to mention that they pass any English exams I prepare them for.
I have also worked as a music teacher in some state music schools in Poland, with good results.

Tutoring Approach:
All students are welcome, both, those more and less talented. I believe anyone can learn anything if they really want to. I also believe that I can teach anyone not only to communicate in English but to be able to use it correctly in terms of the grammar. I can make learning fun.

About Patricia:
I am a mother of two wonderful young adults. I am now pleased to be living in the South East for the first time since my school days. I live in a lovely 4 bedroomed house with a large garden and orchard.

I am currently enjoying supply teaching in several schools in the Reading.

My personal interests include singing, listening to classical music, personal development, nutrition, craft work and learning new things.

Teaching Experience:
I have had a wonderful and varied teaching career for the last 27years in Wales, England, USA and Kuwait.

I have enjoyed teaching children from age 2 to 18 and also adults, but I have mainly taught children in Primary school. Some of the children have had special needs including Hearing Impairment, specific learning difficulties such as ADHD, ADD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and other learning difficulties including Aspergers' Syndrome and Downs' Syndrome. I am familiar with basic BSL (British Sign Language) but as I have not used it for a few years I would need a while to get up to speed.

I have taught English as another language to both adults and children.

I have also enjoyed holding several classes teaching crafts such as knitting, crochet, cross stitch, tapestry work, making stuffed toys and fabric collage.

Tutoring Approach:
I am familiar with the National Curriculum requirements for the Primary age range and I have a specific programme that teaches reading, writing and spelling in a holistic way.

One of the reasons why some children (and adults) have difficulty in grasping mathematical concepts is that they need more practical (concrete) experience, which I aim to provide.

I use several strategies to enhance learning and make it easier for my pupils and students.

Brain Gym is a series of simple exercises to integrate both hemispheres of the brain. This enhances the understanding of the subject being learned by creating new pathways.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is an easy self administered acupressure technique which is a wonderful tool to help overcome emotional blocks to learning (e.g. in Maths and Reading).

I have also found that certain classical music pieces enhance the learning, especially when coupled with a holistic approach. This includes sight, hearing, speaking, touch, movement and joy.
