Personal Description:
As a teenager I was lucky enough to receive tuition myself and it made a huge difference, so I really know how much of an advantage it gives.

Tutoring is my full-time job and has been for many years.

I am extremely quick at identifying student problem areas and devising the most efficient solutions, sometimes with budget or time constraints. Where necessary I focus on exam technique as I find many capable and knowledgeable students gain confidence (and marks!) once these skills are taught.

My students like me and can sense that I want the very best outcome for them, and understand they are under pressure to succeed, and my services are frequently recommended to siblings and friends.

Since March 2020 I have tutored online using Skype, Zoom, Bramble and MS Teams.
This way of tutoring is surprisingly effective and time-saving, with results as good as in-person tuition,
something I probably would not have discovered if it were not for lockdown, as before then I always tutored in person.

Teaching Experience:
As well as many years continuous home-tutoring experience, I have taught in both state and private sectors since 1986; examples being Surrey College (Guildford), Horsell High School (Woking) and Farnborough College of Technology, and the prestigious Seaford College in Petworth, W.Sussex. I recently completed two terms at Farnborough College of Technology as a Physics lecturer.

I have a vast library of past examination papers in all my subjects at GCSE and GCE A level for Edexcel, AQA and OCR examining boards.

In addition I have some experience tutoring both common entrance and Baccalaureate Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:
I appreciate that for most students, private tuition represents a workload additional to both schoolwork and homework.

Therefore I aim to make tuition as interesting, interactive and productive as possible- whilst focusing on their objectives- usually a target examination grade. Experience has shown that students can expect learning progress with an experienced tutor such as myself to be without exaggeration, 2-4 times faster than could be made in a typical school classroom, whilst simultaneously gaining a fuller understanding of the topics covered.

Tutoring Approach:
From teaching experience I know what the main misconceptions are and use this to base my teaching on. So before we begin a topic I try to tease out any difficulties a student may have and go forward. Talking to parents to find out and work through the child's problem and take it step by step until they understand and branch out into other problems. Not to pressure the child into something they can not handle or making the frustrated but instead make it fun and understanding for the child.

I am a professional piano player with a degree in Music and Music Technology from Keele University. My work includes session playing, touring theatre shows, accompanying and teaching piano, keyboard or music theory lessons.

Teaching Experience:
I have previously worked as a piano/keyboard/music theory for Telford Music School (Jan 2010 - June 2011), teaching all ages and abilities, and I have spent the summers of 2011 and 2012 as the Theatre Assistant/Musical Director for Chateaugay Summer Camp in America. I currently offer private tutoring at pupils homes to fit in with my other professional work.

Tutoring Approach:
Every student is different and requires a different approach. I try hard to adapt for each pupil but my main concern is that they enjoy what they are playing/learning. I am a graduate of the Newcastle University BMus (Hons) Folk and Traditional Music where I specialised in Scottish traditional fiddle music. I am both an experienced teacher and performer, having performed at various festivals throughout the country. I am comfortable playing in a variety of musical styles and I am happy to tailor lessons to the interests of each individual pupil.

Teaching Experience:
During the past five years I have taught a range of age groups from young school pupils to adults in both one to one lessons and group settings. I have also had a great deal of experience teaching beginners, most recently the Bellingham Middle School Ceilidh Band. During my later years of school I assisted with a young children's string orchestra and also an intermediate traditional music group. As part of my degree I have studied different techniques of teaching traditional music within the community.

Tutoring Approach:
The initial lesson provides an opportunity for both myself and the pupil to discuss any past musical experiences and also understand what they wish to gain from future lessons. I plan my lessons around the interests of the pupil which in return allows them to get the most out of their lessons. Whilst I strongly believe that there are benefits to reading notation, I also teach by ear and am happy to focus on this if a pupil so wishes. I encourage my pupils to bring along any music they wish to learn in addition to their set pieces.

I offer hour long lessons, suggesting a starting point of half an hour for beginners. Groups lessons are possible.

I am an Arabic linguistics PhD student at the Language and Linguistic Science Department of the University of York, UK. I hold a BA in English literature and linguistics as well as an MA in translation studies. My study makes me familiar with written Arabic and spoken Arabic in its different forms (dialects). This is why I am quite familiar with Egyptian, Syrian, Lebanese, Gulf and Sudanese Arabic. In addition, I am also a CELTA-trained teacher and an Assistant Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught English as a foreign language for 10 years at Minia University, Egypt. I also taught Arabic to adults as well as young people for 5 years in England. I teach face to face and online.

Tutoring Approach:
My teaching depends on immersing you in enjoyable daily-life situations so that you can easily imitate and, after not too much effort, read, write and speak Arabic/English like a native speaker. Culture cannot be separated from language. So, I also immerse you in the main cultural aspects of Arabic/English-speaking countries in general and offer a brief background to language as reflected in culture. Also, I try to compare Arabic and English (as a language) and the culture represented by it with other languages, including French and German (languages that I am familiar with).

I offer tuition in maths up to and including Maths and Further Maths A-levels. I coach for university entrance exams such as Oxford's MAT and Cambridge's STEP. I also offer coaching for Numeracy and Numerical Reasoning tests such as SHL recruitment selection tests. If you need a bit of extra help for an upcoming exam, or even if you are just keen to widen your skills base with some general functional mathematics coaching, I would be keen to help.

I am a full time sixth form maths teacher in the Nottinghamshire area with 15+ years' experience both tutoring and teaching, and currently teaching A-level Maths and Further Maths. I am a Maths graduate from the University of Warwick, and I hold a PGCE from Warwick Institute of Education. I have a full Enhanced Disclosure CRB.

I appreciate how difficult and disheartening it can be to struggle with maths, but I also believe that, when presented in the right way, it can be both interesting and enjoyable (as well as extremely useful!) Professional and practising international artist with over twenty years experience in the art industry in the US and the UK.
I have an active studio practice producing sculptures, illustrations, props and miniatures for various clients and supplement my income on the side with teaching when possible as I do enjoy sharing what I love. My home and studio practice is in east London but I teach at the Victoria & Albert Museum as its important to me to keep my teaching and my studio separate. I have over twenty years teaching experience teaching all levels in the arts and all ages in the classroom in a school setting and also privately one to one.

In the United States, I've taught as an art teacher in elementary schools, high schools and after school art clubs. I've also taught in art festivals and art heritage museums here in the UK.

I primarily teach young people preparing for art portfolio presentations and university entrance exams. I make a policy to teach from life using the traditional teaching methods and techniques of the great masters from the Italian Renaissance as this is how I was educated. I teach my students to understand and use perspective, relationships, contrasts and composition. I teach any level of art student following an initial portfolio review. This portfolio review helps me see previous drawings students have done which helps me understand how to construct our lessons in order to achieve success.

I teach in the Victoria & Albert museum as I teach from life. All my classes are a minimum of 2 hours and a maximum of 4 hours. I don't teach anyone younger than 16 years old.

Hi, my name is Sean and I am 57 years of age. I have recently retired as a Deputy Head teacher and from full time teaching, having worked in Primary schools for 32 years.
