I am mum to two boys, both who have flown the nest. I miss them greatly now that they are based in London but try to visit as much as I can. I love to shop and also exercise, especially pilates. Oh and I do love to cook!

I studied at Dundee College of Education where I gained a Diploma in Primary Education. This was a three year course. I then took another Certificate in Early Years. After leaving College, I taught in both the state and private primary sector. I left teaching to have my children and then to nurse my youngest child who was quite sick for a few years. After initial assessments to see what support is needed, classes are tailored to a student's particular needs and interests. There is, of course, a vast difference between a school student who requires additional support in preparation for an exam and an adult student who is pursuing a modern foreign language out of personal interest or for business reasons. We would look at verbal and listening practice as well as written exercises.

I have a particular interest in grammar and feel that it is very difficult to have a good grasp of a language without some grammar competency. This is especially important for A Level examinations. However, grammar does not have to be taught in a boring way and I often use games and fun exercises as well as more formal methods. Primary pupils learn mostly through games, puzzles and songs.

I graduated in July 2012 with a high 2:1 in BA French from the University of Southampton, and I spent 9 months living in France as part of my degree. After university I worked at a translation company as a project manager, where I was able to study towards my Postgraduate Diploma in Translation in my spare time, studying via distance learning with the University of Bristol. I have been tutoring students across London in all aspects of Computing since 2015. Having a PhD and a 1st Class Degree in Computer Science from Sheffield University, I have a great deal of experience in everything from general programming to academic research. I worked for a decade as an academic at both Sheffield and Surrey Universities. I have helped many students through their studies at GCSE and A-level, teaching AQA, OCR and CIE syllabuses. I am also happy to teach adult learners who are looking to expand their skillset.

For A-level and GCSE students it is worth beginning tuition as soon as possible, not just in the weeks running up to exams (although this can still help). This is particularly important for Computer Science because students should be learning a programming language in parallel with their studies. Some exam boards require a programming project as coursework, and it is important that this is completed as soon as possible to leave room for exam preparation.

I am happy to help degree students with theory and learning programming, but enquiries asking for help with an assignment for hand in next week are unlikely to be followed up.

At secondary school, I was a Peer Mentor for 2 GCSE students in Biology and Chemistry. We met weekly in the build up to their exams and went over topics they struggled with and I brought some of my own materials along to test their knowledge after we had discussed their mistakes. I learnt a great deal about different teaching styles from both students and how to be adaptable when the topic of discussion changed quickly. Additionally, for 2 years every week, I volunteered to teach disabled children how to swim at my local pool. I feel passionately about making all of my tutoring sessions interactive, enjoyable and targeted to the individual student. I believe it is important to frequently recap content in order to identify areas of weakness in my tutee's knowledge and I plan to do this with recap quizzes/discussions at the beginning of each session. Personally, I also greatly benefitted from making up mnemonics and sketching diagrams when covering challenging content and so I would aim to do this with my tutee too. I gained a PGDip in Management at Bradford University and went on to work at all levels in the NHS, ending as being the National Director for Analysis. In that time I have taught mathematical and statistical skills to hundreds of NHS analysts, and delivered degree level research training to staff at all levels for over 20 years,

In 2018 I set up my own training and consultancy business which aimed to teach, train and support staff at all levels in their use of data and I subsequently was awarded the Northern Enterprise Awards "Best analytics and research training provider - Yorkshire" in 2021.

This experience has made me ideally placed to understand the different ways that people learn, and the areas that can be seen as difficult. The training skills I have developed means that I approach tutoring in a different way than those with a formal PGCE which can be of great benefit.

Teaching Experience:
I have had a number of different training / teaching / tutoring experiences within my career.
I have taught on a degree level Research course within the NHS for 20 years - concentrating on research methods, data and critical analysis skills.
I have delivered lectures in data related subjects to undergraduate students at Huddersfield and Bradford Universities within the UK, and Buffalo University within the USA.
I was honorary visiting lecturer to Leeds University for a number of years.
Since 2018 I have delivered private training in analysis, data and research across the UK, as well as in the USA and Gibraltar to a wide mix of ages and professional groups.
In 2019 I lectured online for a PhD course at Fordham University in New York.

I have tutored in GCSE and A'level subjects for the last 4 years both online and face to face. (AQA syllabus, although I have access to other syllabus material such as EdExcel).

Tutoring Approach:
Every learner is different, so I like to find an approach that works with each of my students. Having taught people who struggled with subjects at school I try to find easy examples to illustrate particular concepts. I also believe that humour is a key part of the learning environment, and that learning should be enjoyable as well as educational.

While I am happy to meet face to face, I find that online tutoring works equally well and has the advantage of being able to record sessions that can be used by the student when revising. The use of interactive whiteboards still provides a great learning experience, and whiteboards can also be saved for the student to use later.

Explain till the time the concept is not clear. There is no need to rush. I believe that the minute you understand a topic, you will be able to master it with proper practice. I believe that there are no stupid questions and I make my students feel comfortable to ask me questions related to the subject as many times as possible.

Hello, I am Sankalp and I hold a Master's degree in Law. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Education and I pride myself in helping learners understand complex course material by breaking them into simple, easy-to-understand information. Working in the legal field has exposed me to numerous cases and claims that I use in teaching case analysis while allowing me to provide legal training to adults and health professionals. I am an easy going fellow and love to build a rapport with my students to create a conducive learning environment and ensure my students have a great time while learning. I pride myself in being a learning partner as I invest in my students' success so that they can achieve great academic success.

Teaching Experience:
I have been a tutor for 6 years and have worked with a diverse group of learners. I tutor individuals on legal case management to help them analyze and manage claims and cases and prepare inquests. I also teach English, with a focus on public speaking to help individuals gain more confidence and improve the English speaking skills, particularly ESL learners.

Tutoring Approach:
Given my extensive experience, I have an adaptable teaching approach that is student-centered. I move with my students' pace and let them guide what areas I should focus on based on their needs. When tutoring law, I provide cases for analyses and help students during the case analysis by supporting active discussion. For my English learners, I focus on building vocabulary and comprehension and encourage learners to speak by providing arbitrary topics of discussion. I provide resources and also help students prepare for examinations.
