I have been in Edinburgh for almost 11 years and have been a tutor in Russian, freelance interpreter and translator for all this time. I am the author of four scientific publications in the field of linguistic relations in Russian, English and Tatar.

While living in the UK I have worked as a freelance tutor and translator for Scottish&Newcastle, Scottish Parliament, NHS and Rudolf Steiner School. I am really proud of the fact that among my students are people of different ages, knowledge of Russian and purposes of learning it and who are professionals in different fields for example in language and science teaching, sales and marketing, medical research, social work, to name just a few.

Always try to make students interested in the subject I teach. Create a ftiendly and an encouraging learning environment. Not afraid to praise them even if they do not get immediate good results. Tend to get feedback from them. Plan carefully each lesson. Use the Internet and PC in preparing for lessons. Good news: Russian is fascinating, by the end of the "journey", you will be confident enough to speak to a Russian in the street or even upgrade your page with information in Russian, to strike your friends with a few bespoken facts about Russia or probably invite your friends to join you for the mountain climbing in the Altai or kayaking in Baikal Lake. Let me briefly describe you my past experience. I was born in Saint-Petersburg and graduated from Russain State University of Foreign Languages, I have a master's degree in teaching of modern languages. I have been working first at school, then privately for more than 15 years.

I started teaching Russian at Trent College in Derbyshire as an extra-curricular activity for a group of students in year 7-8 and 9, providing all the teaching materials and authentic programme. I covered all the main parts in terms of philology and diverse the lessons with curious facts about the country, traditions and customs. At the end of one term course, students had basic skills in reading and writing, they were able to introduce themselves and speak on common themes (hobbies, cuisine, travelling etc). Later I started to assist students in their preparations for GCSE and A levels in Russian. At the moment, I have positive reviews from my students who passed GCSE and A Levels on A and A*. After relocating to Cornwall, I prepared my own Russian course, which I delivered in Tree Language School in Truro. I am a professional native teacher of Russian as a Foreign Language with 6+ years of experience and a positive and outgoing person with a passion for languages and life-long learning. I have lived and worked in 7 countries and currently live in Newcastle, England. Besides work, I enjoy travelling, hiking and watching sunsets.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught Russian at all levels from ab initio to C2 to students of all social backgrounds from all around the world (UK, Denmark, USA, Australia, Japan, China, South Korea, France, Germany, etc.). I have led courses with the focus on conversation and grammar as well as Russian for specific purposes, such as travel, business or TORFL (TRKI) exam preparation.

Tutoring Approach:
I am a supportive and positive teacher striving to create friendly atmosphere in my lessons so that students feel encouraged to speak and experiment with the language. The communicative method is at the heart of my teaching approach, and I encourage my students to start speaking from the first lesson. I always tailor my lessons to my students' goals and needs and choose only relevant, engaging and up-to-date materials to work with.
