I have been tutoring privately for 20 years and have seen my students grow in confidence, understanding and knowledge of their chosen topics. I approach tutoring different ways depending on who the student is. I then take these away and mark them in my own time and return with a deeper view of where they are going wrong after they have been taught. Often someone can grasp a topic in 5 minutes of one-to-one that would have taken 2 hours to cover with a larger group. Once you are confident with a topic, we move on rapidly to the next one. A current A level tutee of mine told his father "I learnt more in that 2 hour session than I have all term at school" and his headteacher wrote to congratulate him on his improved grades. I have been studying Martial Arts since 1966. Having gained Master qualifications in Ninjutsu, Karate, Taekwondo, Jujutsu and Kung-Fu. My personal martial arts journey began whilst growing up in the far east.
Following a violent attack as a 16 year old child, while perusing various forms of self-defense classes, I was introduced to the Japanese Martial Arts an immediately became a convert.
I have a keen interest in the well-being of people, those who have experienced violent trauma, lack the confidence to defend themselves or their family, or who simply want to learn a Martial Art.

I am also a qualified Life Coach accredited by The Coaching Academy.
Life coaching draws inspiration from disciplines including Sociology, Psychology, Positive Adult Development, Career Counselling, NLP, Mentoring and other types of Counselling.

Tutoring Approach:
Every new batch of tuition starts with getting to know more about the students. It is at the same time important to give the students enough space to familiarise themselves with me. A discussion will then follow to scope down what will be covered in the syllabus. A work plan is also devised with the aim to complete the syllabus well before the examinations, so as to have adequate time for revision. The following steps outline the process of each tuition session:
1. Initiate the subject or topic based on discussion of a real life example / scenario
2. Introduce the theoretical part of the subject or topic
3. Explain how the theory links to the real life example / scenario
4. Work out and explain some examples
5. Immediate evaluation of student's understanding through questions and answers
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until satisfactory response of the student (steps 1, 2 and 3 may also be repeated if required)
7. Give homework and a brief discussion on what will be covered in the next tuition session

Note: Each tuition session starts with the correction of the previous session's homework and explanation of any problem areas, including a summing up of what was covered in the previous tuition session.

RECENT SUCCESSES

As an actor, I've performed in regional theatres across the US including Cincinnati Playhouse, St. Louis Rep, The Alliance, Playmakers Rep, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and The Old Globe. Before moving to London, she made her home in Colorado, working at various theatres across the state. She received Denver Post Ovation Awards for her work in ALL MY SONS at the Denver Center, and RABBIT HOLE at the Curious Theatre, as well as the 2012 Culture West "Best Season by an Actress" award and the 2013 Culture West "Best Supporting Actress" in STEEL MAGNOLIAS at Senior Housing Options.

I produced two off-Broadway plays in New York City and two site-specific productions in Denver. I co-founded The Mile Square Theatre in Hoboken, NJ, now in its 16th year and I'm an Artistic Associate with Théâtre Du Rêve in Atlanta, GA.
