Personal Description:
"Julian is a fantastic tutor and enjoys teaching his subject with great zest and enthusiasm. My sons scored A* in Geography. Thank you Julian"
DUE TO DEMAND AND EXISTING RELATIONSHIPS, I AM LOOKING FOR ONLY 2 NEW CLIENTS FOR 2026.
I am passionate about Geography! I believe it is THE subject that defines our era.
This philosophy informs my approach to teaching vibrant, exciting student-friendly lessons in school and similar sessions in the tutoring experience.
I have been a head of department at leading schools in NW London/SW Herts since 2017. I have examined for AQA across all components (Paper 1 Physical Geography, Paper 2 Human, NEA/Coursework). My knowledge of both curricula and examinations is outstanding. Departmental results at my current school (high achieving independent in Harrow) are the best in the school and amongst the best in the whole area.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching in some of the area's best schools for around 20 years. Prior to this I was the director of education at an established UK children's charity.
During my career to date I have been quick to establish myself as a dynamic, confident and compelling teacher. Results under my supervision have been amongst the best in the area.
I develop student-friendly resources that have been adopted across the department by other colleagues. I lead the department on many ICT-related developments.
Some quotes from professional review/other tutees:
"Amazing tutor, he helped me improve in a short amount of time. I would recommend"
"In a very short time helped give my son the confidence and knowledge to lift his a-levels grades substantially. Would highly recommend him"
Tutoring Approach:
For some students, gaining confidence with many of the concepts and ideas presented in geography at Key Stage 4 or 5 is difficult - especially considering the pressures of coursework, ongoing assessment and the natural workload provided by other subjects. Yet these concepts underpin much of the reality that geography deals with.
My approach to tutoring is to enthuse the often overwhelmed student first and foremost with 'real', accessible geography. By using interactive ICT-based resources and practical assessment tools such as course guides, question mark schemes and exemplar work, the student can access previously hard-to-grasp material, and gain a critical understanding of the assessment process.
My belief is that you would not attempt to fix a car without instructions. I help the student interpret the manual to their course so they themselves can get behind the wheel and drive to success!
Please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss your needs if this fits!

Personal Description:
I have a passion for the English language and its literature which is reflected in my work. I really enjoy tutoring, because I know the one-to-one learning situation gives students the attention and focus which they need to improve, and which they cannot get in school. I am a parent, a published poet and occasional actor. PLEASE NOTE: Idonot do trial lessons. Please trust my knowledge and experience.
Teaching Experience:
I have 30 years' experience of teaching English to kids of varying backgrounds and abilities (11 to 18 up to A level) so I have built up an extensive bank of resources over the years, which I use to carefully prepare for lessons. I am also an experienced examiner for AQA, which offers valuable insights into exactly how to achieve high GCSE grades .I recently received the JCQ certificate for services to examing. I have been tutoring successfully for seven years now, and my knowledge and expertise would be very useful to students aiming at high marks in GCSE and A level exams. Recently, I have helped a pupil win a scholarship to high-achieving independent QEGS in Wakefield, and others to gain entrance to grammar schools
Tutoring Approach:
I am patient, friendly and easy to get on with. I have always tried to make my lessons interesting, relevant and inter-active. I tailor my teaching to the pupil and know that praise and encouragement are the keys to confidence and progress. A good sense of humour is vital, too.
I have helped to improve the grades of many pupils, some of whom have achieved the highest grade at GCSE, and have coached younger ones through entrance exams to sought-after schools. One student, whom I tutored for three years, progressed from a poor level 4 in year 8 to GCSE grade B, the minimum requirement for A levels in many good schools, while others have achieved the A* grades required for their chosen paths.
I have achieved high ratings from the parents of students I have tutored. A good tutor can make a difference with focused one-to-one attention, and I am a good, committed tutor..NB I offer discounts for online tuition.

Personal Description:
I am a professional geography researcher specialised in regional geography and urban sciences. I have gained my knowledge and expertise from universities across Europe (Pécs, Wolverhampton, Maribor, Zagreb, and Ljubljana). I am currently a PhD Aspirant at the University of Pécs, Hungary.
I have been mainly researching in the field 'geography of energy', but my interests link my specification to other scientific disciplines such as sustainability, environmental sciences, and landscape geography, and I am able to perform and combine various geographical fields.
During my years as a PhD Student, I was given the chance to gain experience as a lecturer; teaching subjects which included: renewable energy resources and world regional geography. In 2015, I officially became a teacher after successfully completing my PGCE at the Birmingham City University in England.
As a teacher I have also gained experience in a prison setting teaching mathematics to a wide age range and ability of students and different learning levels, whilst I have been able to use the knowledge that I obtained from the course in practice.
Besides having published a number of articles and books, I am the founder and series editor of Frugeo's journal called Geographical Locality Studies.
I am a registered member of the Hungarian Geographical Society (MFT), and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL).
Teaching Experience:
Being a 'good' teacher is a subjective opinion that I cannot state about myself. I am experienced in a wide-range of teaching environments from primary/secondary school-aged pupils to adult/prison learning and higher education.
People who have observed me teaching in the past have had positive criticism of my work and mentioned how efficient and encouraging my lessons and teaching methods are. In my opinion, to be a good teacher it is essential to be flexible with the environment you work in and have to have comprehensive knowledge both in outdoors and in classroom settings. You have to experience and observe the outside world for you to engage and maintain properly an enthusiastic class when teaching geography.
The qualifications and the reputation I have obtained in Geography are the results of an enthusiasm I have had since my childhood for this subject area and it is still part of my daily life that comes to life through my own business and its journal.
Geography is not only my profession, but is also my hobby that is present in my life with all of its aspects, whether it be examining a piece of rock or talking about coffee beans, I can discuss both in an academic sense as well as out of personal interest. The diverse use of language therefore is important when encouraging others on geography and the key is to find a common interest between subject and receiver for them to understand and to be inspired by what they are learning. For example, when teaching in the prison, Mathematics combined with Geography suddenly becomes more interesting and therefore engaging.
Tutoring Approach:
For a researcher with a deep understanding about the Earth's mechanisms, Geography will always reserve a high number of mysteries. Research is the foundation for everything that is taught and this will always be exciting for me to do. But the implementation of this new knowledge may be challenging, that is why you have to keep thinking of new teaching methods to improve the quality of the subject that you are teaching. For this reason, it is essential to assist the younger generation for them to become capable to deal with geography related topics and issues.
As originally a researcher with a non-British educational background and with a very colourful and diverse interest in Earth Sciences, I am able to shake things up. My aim is to develop people's knowledge, foster their understandings on geography and help them achieve the required goals set by the school/exam board which I hope will motivate them into using geographical knowledge in their daily lives.

Personal Description:
I studied at the University of London - the London School of Economics and Birkbeck College. I am a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Member of the Royal Historical Society. I am now a professional full time private tutor and I have an exemplary track record, with over 200 five star reviews on various tutoring websites, of coaching students to success across a range of ability: entrance to Oxbridge and the Russell Group universities and 13+ and 16 + entrance for the top UK private schools. Or for students who merely need to improve their grades somewhat, restore confidence after a mock exam or recover their composure and achieve good UCAS predictions. My overall knowledge and experience of the UK and international education system is next to second to none.
I am a specialist in UK and international A-Level / Level 3 qualifications such as AQA, EDEXCEL, OCR, EDUQAS, CIE, iAL, IB and pre-U. I also support all GCSE and iGCSE syllabuses and Middle Years IB. I was a Head of Geography and then a senior manager at a successful Sixth Form College in London. I am currently a Senior Examiner and Moderator for Edexcel in Geography and EPQ Diploma Dissertation and have been an examiner for Geology. I was also an Examiner for Geography for AQA, CIE (OCR) and the WJEC. I am an author of GCSE / A-Level books and resources and a keen historian, specialising in 20th Century history.
I tutor online to provide support for a wide range of students, particularly 11/13+/scholarship, Year 10/11 GCSE and Year 12/13 A-level students. I can also provide fully planned sessions to support remote learning or missed teaching for all students in Years 7-13, whether or not they are facing examinations imminently.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching Geography, Geology and Environmental Science at GCSE / A-Level standard for over 30 years and previously taught English and History outside the UK. I also teach GCSE History privately. I have over 32 years' experience of private tuition and have worked for the same period as an examiner variously for Edexcel, WJEC, OCR, CIE and AQA. Having amassed over 22,000 resources, I can support almost any scenario - SEN; enforced Gap Year / re-take / improving grades; re-starting after ill health; moving school; moving country; home study; post-lockdown support. I have also organised Easter revision classes and conferences and also ran a widening-participation programme for A-Level Geography.
I can also offer support for physical geography, geology and earth science up to undergraduate courses and assist with dissertations at undergraduate or Masters level, by negotiation. I can also assist with the International Baccalaureate (IB) course for Standard or Higher Level ESS, History and Geography and pre-U. I am a specialist in supporting the NEA (coursework) for EDX, AQA, WJEC and OCR specifications and coursework for GCSE History.
Tutoring Approach:
I currently work with UK and international students and their families from multiple countries, across all time zones! About 70% are UK based and the remainder in the EU, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.
I have helped students at all levels from Year 6 and 11+ preparation through to Masters Level. I believe in a student-centred approach, which can be tailored by arrangement. I like to develop a mixture of skills, concepts and knowledge. By building conceptual skills and subject-based knowledge and case studies, a student is better prepared for the pressure of the examination. But, good subject and syllabus-focus is essential. My lessons can concentrate on exam practice (using a large bank of resources), case study revision, they can be skills-based (e.g., decision-making, data response) or focus on theory and concepts or a combination of all these. Teaching and learning programmes can be organised to suit personal needs. Some students want intensive 'power lessons', others just want extra exam question practice, some just want someone knowledgeable to bounce ideas off! I can offer integrated packages for GCSE History and Geography together. I can also provide fully planned sessions to support remote learning or missed teaching for all students in Years 7-13, whether or not they are facing exams this year.

Alongside intensive drama school training, he spent seven years honing his acting and directing skills at the Teatro Regio di Torino, working under renowned directors Franco Zeffirelli, José Carlos Plaza, Ugo De Ana, Giuseppe Patroni Griffi, and John Cox.
Since 2002, he has written and directed numerous plays, including The Bald Soprano by Ionesco, The Trojan Women by Euripides, and A Doll's House by Ibsen, staged in various UK venues.
Throughout his career, Paolo has taught Italian Literature, Humanities, Music, and Geography in primary and secondary schools and academies. He holds an MA in Humanities and Arts from the University of Turin, a Diploma in Classical Guitar from Trinity College London, an MA in Archaeology from UCL, and is currently pursuing PhD research at Cardiff University.
He is the founder of a website dedicated to his archaeological research, and, a video-audio production company.

Personal Description:
I provide online tuition for Geography (Human and Physical) at numerous levels of academic development, alongside being a teacher and examiner for both GCSE and A-Level. Having been awarded a Ph.D. (2017), and successfully completing both an M.A. (2012) and BSc (2011), I have knowledge and experience of teaching and tutoring across the discipline. Furthermore, I teach research methods and exam preparation/revision skills. My specialist area is hazard and risk management (seismic and tectonic hazards), but I also have the ability to teach social, regional and cultural geography, as well as physical landscapes, systems and processes. Lessons are provided face to face on camera, using slides and case study resources, as well as past papers. Tuition covers EDEXCEL, AQA, OCR, EDUQAS, Cambridge International. Refunds provided if lessons are cancelled with more than 24 hours notice.
I mark assessments and homework free of charge. As an examiner, I fully understand mark schemes and expectations. My academic commitments and responsibilities have enabled me to gain experience of teaching both large and small class sizes. Lessons critically provide an overview of case studies, encourage interactive discussion, incorporate transferable skills, and identify synoptic links between geographical topics.
Teaching Experience:
Royal Geographical Club Award 2014
Doctoral Career Development Scholarship 2012
Entrance Scholarship (Aberystwyth University) 2008
I have taken on numerous teaching responsibilities at Aberystwyth University, as a tutor and lecturer of both Human and Physical Geography. Modules have included `Geohazards`, `Volcanic Activity`, and `Global Security`. The students enrolled on my modules have exceeded their academic expectations, with consistently high grades and the acquisition of transferable skills.
Furthermore, I have taught college students on the Aberystwyth Summer University. The scheme is part of the `Widening Participation in Higher Education` initiative, and has allowed me to successfully prepare students for university.
I have also been an assistant lecturer, prepared module materials, and introduced students to field training and research methods.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching style is interactive, encouraging discussion, and critically providing overviews of case studies and subject knowledge.

Personal Description:
I am a hardworking, enthusiastic mother of a 3 year old boy. I am a Primary School Teacher and have worked with many children in variety of settings and roles. I am versatile and good at adapting to new situations. I am reliable and punctual and fair. I enjoy being with my family, caravan holidays, reading, watching a good film or series, swimming and going to Church. I am always keen to learn more and develop my knowledge of how children learn and develop through keeping myself updated with new initiatives and taking part in CPD training on various subjects. I also have a keen interest in History and read many books around the subject.
Teaching Experience:
I have worked with children since leaving school, it was always something I was passionate about. I became a Nursery Nurse and worked in a Nursery settings for a time and worked my way up to Base Room Manager. I worked for a long time in a Private Preparatory school as a Teaching Assistant where I completed my Degree in Early Years Education.
I then took a year out of work to undertake my PGCE to become a Qualified Primary School Teacher. I worked in a school in Ashford for my NQT year and then worked in a school in Stanwell for the next 4 years until I had my son, who is now nearly 3 years old. Since my son was born, I have worked as a nanny for families who allow a nanny with own child. My last role was for nearly 2 years but unfortunately my role was made redundant because the parents are now working from home and they no longer needed the level of support they needed before COVID. They will happily give me a reference if you would like to ask for details.
I am currently working with a family of 5 for 3 afternoons a week providing wrap around care. I also tutor their son who is 9 years old. He has made significant progress with his reading and writing.
In the last 4 years I have been tutoring primary aged children at the weekends, in school holidays, through lockdown and after school two days a week. I can provide references. I have taught both face to face and over zoom.
I am currently tutoring a child over zoom who is 5 years old. I make my lessons fun and engaging and she has made significant progress in phonics and maths. I have an extensive knowledge of Teaching Phonics.
I am interested in Tutoring internationally. I have had some experience of working with a child from China. I supported him with his learning from age 5-7 years. I also supported him with learning English.
My availability is mainly limited to daytime so my services may suit a child who is Home Educated.
Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy tutoring children because it means I can give them my undivided attention which means I can understand that particular child's knowledge and skills on a far deeper level. This is where my Early Years background really helps as I can identify different learning styles and adapt the way I teach to suit each child. This is very much a part of the Early Years Curriculum so I am used to being reflective and using different strategies to help children learn to the best of their ability. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to see how children grow and learn and most of all gain in confidence so they are able to learn more effectively in all their subjects.
Throughout the session I will assess the child's progress and use this information to plan for the next session. As the spiral curriculum dictates I will also revisit past learning to ensure the child has a firm grasp of the concepts that have been taught previously. This is very important because often or not learning is lost in school because schools do not have time to go over lessons which results in children developing gaps in their learning.
I am confident with both face to face and on-line lessons.

Personal Description:
I am a passionate, hardworking, skilled, and outstanding teacher. I am fully qualified and experienced Primary School teacher specialising in all primary phase subjects. I am extremely professional, energetic, and up to date with the demands of the current Primary Curriculum and the requirements for Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, preparation for SATs, SEN and learning support.
Teaching Experience:
Throughout my 15-year teaching career, I have gained extensive skills in teaching and working directly with children within the Primary Phase (4-11 years). I have an excellent proven track record of students achieving way above what they may have been predicted.
I have considerable experience in helping students who are on the SEND register and most recently I have worked as an Acting SENCO. This involved devising, delivering and monitoring the curriculum for students with moderate and severe learning difficulties as well as those with highly complex needs. I have recently attained the SENCO award qualification from Edge Hill University.
Tutoring Approach:
I am extremely positive, calm, and nurturing. I believe that every child can reach their goals in learning and I will help them to realise their true potential, improving academic performance and developing self-esteem to build a successful future.
After an initial assessment, I will create a personalised learning journey plan and I will ensure that I use motivational interests and strengths to work on areas of new learning and any misconceptions.
I aim to do much more than just increase grades, however I am to inspire, increase confidence and show that learning is something that everyone can do.

Personal Description:
I am 34 year old female, looking to support learners with their education. Teaching has always been my passion since I was a little girl, and this has continued to grow as I have gotten older. I was diagnosed as dyslexia went I joined university, and this has yet to stop me from being successful. The fact that I struggled my way through school, has meant that I am particularly keen in supporting students who do not always find things easy, I believe I am a good role model to students with needs, and am proof that barriers can be overcome. It just takes the right support and patience to succeed.
Teaching Experience:
I have been a qualified geography teacher for the past 12 years, and was head of department for just shy of 8 years. I specialise in the AQA exam board at both GCSE and A Level. For the past 8 years I have also been an examiner for AQA at GCSE level and this past year I examined for AQA at A Level.
Tutoring Approach:
The main thing when it comes to tutoring is finding a way that matches how the student learns. It it's important for the student to feel comfortable with myself and they are not afraid to ask for help when they need it.
It's important to remember that what works for one student doesn't always work for another. So it is vital to find how the student learns and adapt the tutoring to them.
