I enjoy teaching as well as learning. I have been a tutor/lecturer in schools of Art and Design/Architecture for over 12 years. I completed my MSc and PhD in Architecture and MA in Interior Design. I am a well qualified and experienced Primary School and EFL teacher. I have a wide range of experience in teaching students from the age of 5 through to adults. I graduated from Warwick University with a degree in Ancient History and Archaeology followed by a Primary School PGCE from the University of Roehampton and a Masters in Education from the University of Bath.

I am able to build strong relationships with my tutees in order to raise their confidence and attainment levels. I ensure that my lessons are interactive, enjoyable and meaningful to allow students to reach their potential whilst having fun.

I have worked as a Primary School teacher (state and independent) for over 20 years in the UK and at International Schools abroad. I have also had the pleasure of tutoring a variety of students and helping them to achieve excellent results in SATs tests, entrance exams and 11+ or providing them with that bit of extra help and confidence needed to succeed in the classroom. In addition I have worked with students from across the globe, helping them to improve their English language and communication skills.

A true renaissance man, Alex makes: mini epic films, video installations, games, photographs, sculpture, blogs and books. Using readily available materials and software the work often has a feeling of improvisation, an initial throwaway idea made visible.

Throughout his practice there is a sense of an acceptance of failure or disappointment as important parts of the human condition. He makes light with big issues and is, in turn, haunting and funny. His humorous sculpture typically conveys a sense of the accidental, eternally on the brink of failure or collapse. Recent DIY apocalypses, created from expanding builders' foam, seem to have an unruly, malevolent life of their own and explore the processes of invasion and infection. While his films and writing play with ideas of chance, quotidian struggles, the loss of control and responsibility.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught a range of students of all ages and backgrounds from: National Diploma, Extended Diploma, Art Foundation, Degree to MA level.
I have experience in all fields of art and design but my specialist areas include: Sculpture, Drawing, Video, Art History, Cotextual Studies, Art Theory and installation.

Painting and exhibiting for over 15 years professionally, specialising in oil & acrylic portraiture, landscape and abstract subject matter, My paintings foundation is from a hyper-realistic background, a portrait style which I studied and explored during and after my university education, while in recent years expanding to expressive mark making and more ambitious subject matter.
My main passions are within the visual arts and teaching drawing and painting. I'm also experienced teaching people with mild to severe learning difficulties, ADHD, autism and epilepsy whilst exploring art in a therapeutic way to help learners with diverse abilities and needs reach their potential.

Teaching Experience:
I've been teaching for over 12 years, conducting 1:1 sessions and workshops to students with varying abilities, skills and mixed age ranges.
I specialise in teaching different styles of painting, for example impasto expressionism to fine technical realism, mostly concentrating on acrylic and oil based paints.
The subject matter I teach is usually portraits and landscape, although I encourage my students to explore all facets of visual arts including mixed media and abstract painting which I also have experience in my own artistic practice.
Besides painting I tutor drawing techniques with pencils, charcoal, chalk and oil pastel as well.

I've taught at charities such as Disability Initiative, facilitating observational and technical teaching to people with both mental and physical disabilities. At the charity I support clients to fulfil their artist potential to create personal and group artworks throughout the course of a 12 week rolling programme.
I've also taught for over 8 years at Arthouse Unlimited and The Meath Epilepsy Charity where I delivered similar workshop sessions to groups of people with learning difficulties and epilepsy. Their art works are sold to the public and exhibited in professional exhibitions and art fairs.

I teach a range of techniques in my art lessons such as palette knife, paint brush techniques and technical sketching methods. I also instruct with a diverse variety of mediums such as pastel, charcoal, pencil, acrylic and oil paint as well as mixed media.
With my background in hyper-realism portraiture, I specialise in realist portraiture with also experience in landscape and abstract/expressive mark making.

Whether studying for GCSEs, A Levels, University or just your own enjoyment, I teach at a level best suited for the learner and the goals in which they pursue. I would encourage students studying for grades to follow certain assessment checkpoints which would be revolved around contextual and method referencing, self reflection, experimentation and consolidation. This will vary for different learners at different stages and obviously with different interests. I do stress though at the heart of my teaching is learning to explore personal artistic growth. These are skills which are easily transferable to whatever stage you're at with your art practice.

I am a very friendly and welcoming practicing professional painter and sculptor, working from my home studio in Wimbledon.

I graduated from Wimbledon College of Art, (UAL) in 2012 with an MA in Fine Art and in 2011 with a BA in Fine Art.
I work in sculpture, drawing and painting.

I exhibit in London and regional group exhibitions.

I visit regularly museums and art exhibitions in London and very happy to take students with me on my expeditions for looking and sketching.

I teach all ages, but specifically specialise with year 7's, 9-12 yrs old, common entrance and scholarship students.

My art sessions are very much a collaboration between student and teacher. I use my own practice as an artist to propel the conversation, I have a comprehensive reference with which to motivate and inspire my students.

I have a gifted student currently who is building a portfolio for submission for a scholarship as part of 11+ examinations. I have also tutored a gentleman in retirement who wanted to create a portrait of his grand daughter. I have students that wish to simply discuss art, and we do so in person phone and online. I am excited to find more students, and am confident I am in the right place. I look forward to further instruction.

I have an open and adaptive approach, in that each student is unique and has something individual to express. Everyone has different desires for their arts discovery.

I take into account experience knowledge and ambitions and devise a structural plan for progression. I draw up a list of artists for the student to study, both contemporary and classic. I reference writers artists of all sorts in specificity for the student that is ongoing throughout the teaching sessions. I hope my students also to make their own research, and to bring to light their own sources of inspiration and reference. I encourage documentation both of resource and personal note making.

I attempt to make the sessions uplifting, to encourage personality and ambition. The arts in education is very much a two way process. Either person can take the lead.

I am an artist and qualified primary school teacher interested in textiles, printmaking and material design. My degree was in History of Art and Material Studies so I love all things art. I find art and teaching perfectly complimentary in that the more I learn as a teacher, the more it informs and improves my art practice and vice versa.

Teaching Experience:
I recently completed the Teach First programme and qualified as an outstanding' primary school teacher with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and Leadership from the Institute of Education (IOE) at UCL. For two years, I was been a Year 4 class teacher and have experience tutoring Year 5 and Year 6 students in preparation for their common entrance exams. I have also tutored A-level students in History of Art. I find that using visual aids, such as power points really help, as well as using video examples where necessary. I am a professional fine artist with many years experience of teaching in Colleges and Universities both in the UK and the USA. I am committed to teaching and this to some extent informs my work I have continued my practice as a fine artist throughout my teaching career and I have continued to exhibit both in Europe the USA and Dubai. I have a studio in Crete Greece from where I regularly travel to various European Capitals to visit important museums and galleries and these experiences are fed back into my teaching.

I have a Master's in Fine Art from the Royal College of Art in London and I am a professional fine artist with 30 years' experience of teaching in the field of Art and Design. In 2014 I was an early adopter of teaching the visual arts remotely to a range of students from different countries and backgrounds. Over that period I taught over 1000 students and as Head of Foundation Studies, I supervised the instruction of many thousands more. I have been responsible for strategies, content, and delivery of that covered media from fine art drawing and painting, photography, concept design, animation, theatre design, graphic design, and illustration. My approach across these disparate and rich media is to enable students to understand the connections between theory and practice and of how to develop a creative process which is research and concept-led. My approach to tutoring is to work with the students regarding whatever project they may be working on. In some cases I write a project for them. I speak online face to face to each student once a week and encourage them to upload work in-between our meetings for advice and comment. I help the students to understand what it is to be a visual artist and how to discover their own creative process. I taught advanced life drawing classes at Ericaceous Art School in Dorking, worked for a special royal family, and also for Toyota, UK. Teaching Art is my true passion which I've honed and strengthened for over 20yrs. I`m as dedicated now as ever in sharing Art skills with creative learners.

I founded my art company in 2017 in Reigate. Over a few years I grew our community of like minded Art tutors and students coming together to share our Art passion. Outgrowing our first studio, Covid lockdowns created an opportunity to move to a beautiful studio space. We developed and diversified our Art tuition offering. We won `Social Impact` category at Reigate & Banstead Business Awards, and RBBC Entrepreneur Academy in 2022. As well as providing Art Tuition for over 100 students per week, we created murals, teamed with ESDAS, worked in schools and for charities, held Open Days and special Art events, and most importantly made connections with so many wonderful local families and individuals. I know anything is possible, failures are welcome, and we create our own definitions of success.

Artist: I loved making when I was little, although my creations rarely won the many Art competitions I entered! I drew my dreams, my sleeping father, doodled in church, and copied cartoons. Then my Art education at school began. I graduated from Kingston University with an Illustration degree and a distinction for Life Drawing. I exhibited in West Sussex and in the Conningsby Gallery, London, and curated an Art exhibition in Carthage, Tunisia. I specialise in oil painting, have travelled extensively in Europe on location drawing trips, and I've been part of Surrey Artist's Open Studios. I paint regularly in my home Art Studio in Reigate; Art is a life time journey for me.

Mother: My daughters are teenagers now and it`s a privilege to have two girls with whom to share each and every day. Motherhood is an amazing experience which opened up my understanding of people and strengthened my teaching and learning methods. My gratitude and appreciation found new heights through my children.
