Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Oxford in 2011 with a degree in Experimental Psychology, and received a Masters in 2015. I have been tutoring for over 10 years, and run a company focused on inspiring students to reach their potential through study techniques based on neuroscientific evidence. This involves delivering interactive workshops for students in schools and colleges across London, as well as through ebooks and other online resources I have created!
I love teaching and thrive on the satisfaction of helping a student reach their goal; I welcome students of all abilities, motivation levels and confidence levels. What sets me apart from most is that as well as tutoring my students, I take the role of a mentor, to motivate, encourage and guide them towards success. My students also benefit from my knowledge of study skill techniques, which I integrate into my teaching to maximise students' memory retention.
For students applying for Oxbridge, I am able to provide valuable advice on interview techniques and personal statements, as well as provide contacts to graduates from Oxford University from a range of subjects. I am also able to tutor students for entrance exams e.g. 11+.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored extensively for 10 years at Primary, GCSE, A-level, and Degree level with excellent results. I have had students move up by up to 4 grade boundaries at both GCSE and A Level; for the 11+ I have helped students secure places (including scholarships) at excellent institutions such as Dulwich College. At degree level, my Psychology students have achieved 1sts and 2:1s. I am happy to provide references on request!
Tutoring Approach:
My first step is always to assess exactly where my student is at so that I can plan the content for sessions accordingly and make sure that they get the best out of each lesson. If there are any gaps in the foundations of their knowledge we can then attack these head on. My approach is thus very organised and tailored to the specific needs of the student, with small goals set per session alongside a long term goal to work towards. I always ensure that my lessons are engaging, and work towards building a good relationship with my students, encouraging them to ask questions without any hesitation. I adapt my approach depending on my students' learning style as I feel this is the key to successful teaching.
At GCSE and A Level, my aim is always to make sure that students are completely familiar with the subject specification and assessment objectives as this dictates exactly where they can pick up most marks. Completing as many past papers as possible is also a step in the right direction, alongside completing assignments set by myself. I always give very detailed feedback so that my students know exactly where they can improve, and how to apply it to their work going forward.
My approach for students studying Psychology at degree level depends on what is required. Most students require guidance with essays, reports, dissertations and write ups; I usually go through the assignment with the student giving valuable, detailed feedback on what can be improved and exactly how they can go about doing so. This can involve several redrafts until the work has been completed to the students' full potential.

Personal Description:
I am have graduated with a First Class degree Actuarial Science at London School of Economics.
I have achieved A*A*A*A in my recent A Level results and have also represented my country in various mathematics competition which include me winning an Honourable Mention in Asia Pacific Mathematics Olympiad.
Have also achieved Gold Medal in National Physics Competition in my country.
Teaching Experience:
I have previously volunteered with the Salvation Army and had taught GCSE students over there. Overall it went quite well and I saw improvement in their ability to answer questions and attitude towards the subject.
I have also been an assistant Mathematics Olympiad coach. This job required me to lecture some of the best students in Malaysia so that they can score well in national competitions.
Thus, I believe I am able to teach students of different abilities.
Tutoring Approach:
I usually start with the basics. I believe that with a good basic, the student would then be able to improve him/herself to be better instead of just idly solving a question and showing the steps to the student.
Also, I would try to include real life application if its possible so that the student remain interested and understand more about the things being studied.

A-Level Accounting & Business Studies & Economics Tutor | ACCA, 15 yrs PQE, B.Ed
About Me:
I am a qualified ACCA qualified Chartered accountant with over 15 years of professional experience and a B.Ed, offering one-to-one tutoring in A-Level Accounting and Business Studies and Economics . I have extensive experience mentoring colleagues at work, and I use the same structured, clear approach to help students succeed.
I specialise in complex, exam-heavy topics where students often lose marks, including cash flow statements, corrections of errors, final accounts with adjustments, partnership accounts, accounting ratios, budgeting, and variance analysis and Economics concepts. My lessons are tailored to student pace and focus on exam technique, understanding, and confidence.
Subjects & Levels:
A-Level Accounting (Year 12 & 13) - AQA & Edexcel
A-Level Business Studies & Economics (Year 12 & 13) - AQA & Edexcel
Teaching Style:
Step-by-step explanations
Exam-focused examples and practice questions
Calm, structured, and supportive
Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience mentoring and guiding students, both in professional and educational settings. I have also mentored colleagues at work, helping them understand complex accounting and business concepts, apply them in practical situations, and develop confidence in their skills.
More recently, I have transitioned to online tutoring, preparing structured lessons for A-Level Accounting and Business Studies and Economics I focus on high-demand and challenging topics such as cash flow statements, corrections of errors, partnership accounts, final accounts with adjustments, ratios, budgeting, and variance analysis and complex economics concepts.
My online teaching approach is student-focused, calm, and structured. I use step-by-step explanations, worked examples, and exam-style questions. I also tailor lessons to the student's pace and learning style, ensuring they understand concepts deeply rather than memorising.
I have successfully helped students gain confidence, improve their grades, and perform well in exams, all through one-to-one online sessions using video calls, screen sharing, and digital practice materials.
Tutoring Approach:
Student-Centered & Individualized
I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their pace, understanding, and goals. I start by identifying strengths and areas for improvement, then structure lessons accordingly.
Focus on Complex & High-Demand Topics
I specialize in challenging A-Level topics, including cash flow statements, partnership accounts, corrections of errors, accounting ratios, budgeting, variance analysis, business strategy, SWOT/PEST analysis, and exam case studies. I break down complex topics into step-by-step, manageable parts so students gain confidence and clarity.
Exam-Focused & Results-Oriented
My lessons are designed to build both understanding and exam skills. I provide worked examples, practice questions, and exam-style problems to ensure students can apply concepts under exam conditions.
Interactive & Practical
I use real-world examples, scenario-based questions, and discussions to make lessons engaging and relevant. Students not only learn theory but also how to apply it in practical and exam contexts.
Calm, Structured, and Supportive
I create a patient, encouraging learning environment. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, building confidence and independence.
Mentorship Beyond Tutoring
Drawing on my FCCA qualification, 15+ years post-qualification experience, and B.Ed, I mentor students to develop analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and strategic understanding - skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Personal Description:
I am an Economics graduate from Hanover University, Germany and teach part-time in a successful private college in the city of Bath. Since 2004 I have been working as a freelance tutor of Economics, as a translator (from English into German and vice versa), as a journalist and book author. Prior to that I worked as a technical support engineer for four years and as an office manager for six years. I live in Bath, am married and have two children. I love teaching, especially Economics, because it deals with some of the most fundamental problems of our society. To solve them we need to understand Economics.
Teaching Experience:
Since 2004 I have been tutoring AS and A2-level students in small groups and one-to-one, and university preparation courses in classes of up to 15 students. I have taught the AQA, Edexcel, and OCR syllabuses. Most of the individual students were re-sitting exams, most of whom improved their grade, often significantly.
Tutoring Approach:
First of all I ascertain any particular areas the student needs help with most urgently. I then review the basics with the student to make sure that these have been well understood. We then systematically work through the required subject matter, checking progress with the help of exam-style questions and past examination papers.

Personal Description:
I am approachable, reliable and trustworthy, and have worked with children and young people in education, child care and the charity sector.
I hold a 2:1 BA in Criminology (Youth Justice) and am looking forward to beginning Primary Teacher Training (PGCE) in September. I am a native English speaker and have an enhanced DBS check.
I am currently a teaching assistant in a primary school year 4 class. I provide Maths and English interventions to small groups of children, as well as one to one support.
My experience as a child-minder to children aged four to six shaped my decision to pursue primary teaching as a career.
I have also volunteered as an Independent Visitor providing friendship and support figure to a young person with aspergers syndrome, in care of the local authority, a role I found extremely rewarding.
Teaching Experience:
Whilst at university I elected to complete a placement year volunteering as a Supported Housing Assistant at Centrepoint. My primary role was to manage, develop and deliver the AQA accredited 'Lifewise' workshops for the 44-bed service. I was delighted to win the award for being innovative, empowering, inspiring and professional during my time at Centrepoint.
Tutoring Approach:
A grasp of maths is essential to everyday life and therefore a high quality mathematics education provides a foundation for understanding the world. I believe anyone can achieve with the right teaching and environment. I aim to develop a love of learning and an appreciation, curiosity and confidence about the subject by building a dialogue with children, allowing them to take ownership of their learning, and providing engaging and stimulating lessons where mistakes can be made and solutions can be found together.

Personal Description:
A first class Medical Sciences graduate and qualified teacher, I have over 7 years` experience in teaching/tuition.
Well-versed in most major exam boards, I am able to work successfully with students across all levels of attainment in order to further their understanding of core scientific principles and enhance their exam technique. My position as an assessment specialist with two of the major exam boards has enhanced further my understanding of how credit is awarded in exams - enabling me to not only improve students' subject knowledge, but to improve their approach to exam questions as well.
I take a positive and friendly approach to tuition, and am happy to be flexible in using the methods that best suit the student.
Teaching Experience:
I have been a private tutor since attending university in Exeter, and have helped students to improve on their grade by up to 3 boundaries.
I am a professional teacher, having trained through the prestigious Teach First programme. My progress was judged as outstanding. I have been consistently judged good/outstanding, both internally and by Ofsted, and have held a number of leadership positions.
Tutoring Approach:
Largely, this will depend on what the student is hoping to achieve. I appreciate that, most often, a student's aim is to achieve a certain grade in an exam. In these cases, I will spend a lot of time working with the student to familiarise them not only with the material for the exam, but with the format of the exam paper, exploring how to approach different types of question and working directly with mark schemes to best understand how credit is awarded.
I am, however, passionate about my subject, and aim to uncover some enthusiasm for the sciences with all my students, through engaging sessions in which we can explore topics in perhaps more detail than is often possible within schools.

Personal Description:
I am an A level English teacher with ten years' experience in sixth form colleges, and I currently work at Peter Symonds College in Winchester. I had some maternity cover on my timetable this year, and that's just ended, so I've got some time for tutoring.
My degree was in English Literature but since teaching English Language A-level in my first job, I've become very interested in linguistics, and recently worked at the Survey of English Usage at University College London (for some reason this site won't let me post a URL but you can hear me asking Professor Bas Aarts grammar questions on the EngliciousUCL soundcloud).
I have written articles on The Handmaid's Tale and the work of Cormac McCarthy for emagazine (the English & Media Centre's A-level publication), and my article on the role of the visual imagination in reading is in December's edition. I have also written other pieces of journalism for national publications.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught English Literature, English Language and the joint English Language & Literature course on a range of specifications, as well as GCSE English Language and the Extended Project (in Creative Writing). My first job in education was as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, so I am used to adjusting my approach to suit different levels(!). Several of my former students are now English teachers and one is currently on the Forensic Linguistics MA at Aston University.
Tutoring Approach:
It's important to have an initial discussion to establish what you want from tutoring and assess where you are so we can decide what will be most useful to cover. I'm experienced and friendly and I try to make lessons as enjoyable as possible (esepcially with technical language terminology, which can otherwise be dry).
At the moment it obviously seems like remote lessons are necessary but usually I think in-person sessions work much better.

Personal Description:
I am a mum of two grown up children and a Labrador and have been living with my family in Surrey for 25 years. After 24 years of teaching maths in the classroom, I am now working as a freelance tutor.
I am friendly and patient, and able to help children at all levels of understanding to improve their confidence and attainment in maths.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching maths for 27 years in local independent schools and a top Surrey grammar school. In that time I have also tutored more than 100 pupils towards SATs, school entrance exams, scholarships, GCSEs and A levels, as well as helping improve their general confidence and attainment.
I am now a freelance tutor and currently have some early evening availability on weekdays. Please feel free to contact me to secure a place for the new academic year, or for holiday sessions. I look forward to hearing from you.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tuition depends very much on what is required: this could be reinforcing topics already covered at school, preparing for an examination, or generally working to improve confidence and attainment.
On meeting a pupil for the first time I would work on assessing current understanding against expected standards for their age, and their confidence levels.
In future lessons I would use a variety of resources and methods to consolidate and extend pupil understanding. Past/ practice papers would be provided for pupils approaching examinations.

Personal Description:
I'm passionate about photography and the opportunities it affords for creative storytelling. I have a particular affinity for photographing 'the inbetween', unloved spaces sometimes referred to as liminal space.
Based in the northwest of England.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching A Level Photography (at an Ofsted OUTSTANDING college) for the past 12 years and have most recently undertaken a Head of Department role with responsibility for all creative subjects, including Fine Art, Graphics and Textiles, in addition to BTEC Art & Design.
I have a track record of helping my students to achieve excellent grades whilst allowing them to create highly personal projects.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that there is a form of photography to suit everybody, regardless of experience or access to equipment and software. I believe that successful outcomes and therefore high grades result from a willingness to 'get out and take photographs' and a enthusiasm to be experimental in how those images are edited/presented.
Students must be willing to engage in independent study/research and to act upon constructive feedback.
