I am currently a lecturer on the BSc Psychology and Language science degree at University College London and a psychology examiner for AQA. Prior to this, I was Head of Psychology at a secondary school where I taught the AQA A-level psychology specification. I also introduced and taught Sociology A-level. I graduated in 2003 with a degree in Psychology from Durham University (First Class Honours) and have since completed a Masters degree in Cognitive Neuropsychology at The University of London, Birkbeck College and a PhD in Psychology at The University of London, Goldsmiths College.

Teaching Experience:
I have coordinated modules in developmental psychology and lectured undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have also taught A level psychology for over 10-years and sociology for 2-years. I have been an examiner and Team Leader for AQA Psychology for the past decade. I have tutored students preparing to sit both OCR and AQA A-level exams. I also have some experience supervising students preparing to take IB Psychology.

I have a PGCert Qualification in the Management of Teaching and Learning in Further and Higher education and am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is very much student-centred and I adapt my teaching style to the students in front of me. I like to present an idea/argument/concept and then allow my students the time they need to independently process and grasp the concept before asking them to explain it back to me using their own words. Once I am confident that my student has understood the concept we can then work through the application of this knowledge to practical exam-style questions to consolidate the knowledge and sharpen exam technique.

Mireia is a bass player based in London since 2013, she graduated as a bass player at Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain) on 2010 and she moved to Netherlands.

Since 2002 she's been working as a music tutor till nowadays and she performed with several bands in Spain, Netherlands and UK.

Throughout her career Mireia worked as a bass player in a dance orchestra, musical theater, circus company and she played with jazz, funk pop and world music bands.

She studied with bass players as Jordi Ruiz, Ignasi Zamora, Gary Willis, Josep Pérez Cucurella; the piano player Ignasi Terraza and did a mentoring program with drummer Lucas van Merwijk.

I have more than 8 years of experience as a music teacher (all ages) in private music schools from Spain (Barcelona), I've worked with early years kids (from 3 to 5 years old) ,I've worked as a self-employed music tutor in Netherlands during 2 years and I'm working as music teacher at Norwood Green Junior School and private music tutor .

Tutoring Approach:
I like to adapt the lessons to student needs in order to improve their level and help them to enjoy their learning process. I teach bass guitar for beginners, intermediate and advanced level, and guitar for beginners. I also offer music theory lessons for everyone who has interest to understand the music language, learn to read scores or create its own songs.

In the UK I have worked at Canons High School and Queens Park Community School and now work at HATO. The vast majority of my students have shown good to outstanding progress. I am a Doctor of Psychology with a research and teaching experience at university for B.A. and M.A. and Ph.D. level students and professionals. Since October 2016 I had been successfully tutoring many UK/ international students who required help in Psychology (AS, A-level and Degree level), Data analysis, SPSS, Statistics, and were looking for assistance with their research projects or/ and thesis.

I am specialised in Clinical Psychology (reading disability/ dyslexia), though I have good knowledge in other fields of psychology, as well as research methodology and data analysis (preferably with SPSS). I have my own twin boys in S3 starting their National Fives so I understand the pressures for pupils and families. I want you to feel confident going into class and into exams.
