Information About Olivia:

Personal Description:

My tutoring approach is supportive, engaging and tailored to the individual needs of each student. believe that building confidence is just as important as developing subject knowledge, and I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

As an experienced Head of Psychology, A-level teacher and AQA examiner, I have a strong understanding of what examiners are looking for and how students can maximise their marks. My lessons combine clear explanations of challenging concepts with active learning, regular knowledge checks and targeted exam practice.

I place particular emphasis on developing exam technique, helping students understand how to interpret questions, structure effective answers and apply their knowledge accurately. I also teach students how to develop strong evaluation skills and write the analytical responses needed to achieve the highest grades.

Every student is different, so I adapt my teaching style, pace and resources to suit their individual strengths, areas for development and learning goals. I provide constructive feedback, celebrate progress and encourage students to become increasingly independent and confident learners.

Teaching Experience:

I am a highly experienced Psychology teacher with over 11 years of experience teaching A-level Psychology in both the UK and international schools.

Throughout my career, I have held leadership positions as Head of Psychology in both UK secondary schools and a leading international school in Bangkok. These roles have given me extensive experience in curriculum development, examination preparation and supporting students of all abilities to achieve their academic potential.

I specialise in AQA A-level Psychology and also have experience teaching Cambridge International A-level Psychology (9990) and Edexcel International A-level Psychology. I am an experienced AQA examiner for Papers 1 and 3, giving me valuable insight into examination requirements, marking criteria and the skills students need to achieve the highest grades.

Alongside my classroom teaching, I have several years of experience providing one-to-one private tuition, helping students strengthen their subject knowledge, develop their essay-writing skills and improve their examination technique. I have consistently received five-star reviews for my tutoring and pride myself on building positive relationships with students and their families.

I hold a degree in Psychology from the University of Exeter and a PGCE in Social Sciences. My combination of classroom teaching, departmental leadership, examining and private tutoring experience allows me to offer expert, personalised support to students aiming to achieve their very best.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is personalised, supportive and focused on building both confidence and academic success. I recognise that every student has different strengths, challenges and learning styles, so I tailor my lessons to meet their individual needs and goals.

I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their understanding. I believe that students make the greatest progress when they feel confident in their abilities and are actively involved in their learning.

My lessons are interactive and engaging, combining clear explanations of complex psychological concepts with discussion, retrieval practice, knowledge checks and exam-style questions. I regularly assess understanding and adapt my teaching to address misconceptions and close gaps in knowledge.

As an experienced AQA examiner, I place particular emphasis on exam technique and developing the skills needed to achieve top grades. I help students understand exactly what examiners are looking for, how to interpret questions, structure effective essays and develop sophisticated evaluation skills. I also provide detailed, constructive feedback so students know precisely how to improve.

I believe that effective tutoring goes beyond simply delivering content. My aim is to equip students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to become independent learners who can approach their examinations feeling well-prepared.

Above all, I want my students to **enjoy Psychology, recognise their own progress and feel motivated to achieve their full potential**.
