I have recently graduated from City University having a BEng degree in Electronics with a 2:1 class of 65% overall mark. I loved Electronics since I was a student at school as I consider it as one of the major applications of Maths and Physics that I loved a lot. I always like being self-motivated and giving motivation to others to get involved in solving problems by thinking of their own new solutions.

Teaching Experience:
I used to give tutorial sessions to my colleagues at the university especially when they were in need for deeper explanations of hard concepts such as Maths, Physics, Computer Programming in C++ and Java based on the OOP principles. During the last summer, I ran a tuition program to a German colleague to explain to him the concepts of a module called Dynamics and Control which he had failed in the first attempt exam period. At the end of the summer, he got 80% in the resit exam and then sent me a thank-you letter in which he stated that the way I was teaching him was much better for him than the way of the module teacher himself. That really gave me a higher level of confidence in my own ability of teaching.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach of tutoring is based on the 'friend-to-friend' rather than the 'teacher-to-student' relationship. The reason is to give the student a psychological feeling of that he/she is not being taught at a school or university class. A 5-minute break is always preferred to be given after each 2 hours of teaching. The main guaranteed outcome of each session is to implement a solid-state understanding and an overall coverage of the concept being discussed. Some testing questions of different difficulty levels are to be given at the end of each session to make sure the student has fully understood the concepts explained. Questions, course works, or home works are discussed after the relevant concepts have been fully explained and understood. The determined charge is 12 per hour.

Teaching Experience:
I have previous experience tutoring students in Edinburgh during the first half of 2008. These sessions were for the Scottish Advanced Higher (A-level equivalent) and were a great success.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe it is essential to isolate a student's weaknesses as soon possible in order to focus adequately on these during the session. There are many areas which can hamper a student's performance and prevent them from realising their potential - such as detailed knowledge, exam style, vocabulary, punctuation and grammar. The focus is on practice tests, in addition to this I provide comprehension and analysis questions to provoke detailed reading of the course material. It is not possible for schoolteachers to provide a high level of personal feedback to every student, so I believe it is the tutor's place to provide feedback tailored to the individual student's needs.

It is important to maintain the student's interest - stimulating active engagement with the subject matter is the most effective way of teaching. I make use of study guides, past papers, short and long-answer questions and multimedia (documentaries for example) where appropriate.

I have been tutoring A-Level students for six months. I also supervise laboratory's at the university and help in problem tutorials across all levels.
During my time at the university I demonstrated physics experiments to memebers of the public as part of enrichment programs.

Tutoring Approach:
With all my clients I have an intial half hour session where both myself and the student can discuss the best approach to teaching. I believe that all students learn in different ways and it is important to establish the method which will suit that student.
As a basic outline I usually teach each lesson, and then finish with a series of questions that check understanding and which help to develop problem solving skills. As the exam date get closer, I change to intense revision lessons, which usually involve answering past papers.

Throughout my studies (GCSEs and A-Levels) I have been a straight As student. I have a BSc. Hons. degree in Biomedical Science from Durham University at 2.1 level. This was essentially a combination of Biology and Chemistry, which provides detailed information behind human biology/medicine.

Teaching Experience:
From 2007-2008, I worked in probation, teaching ex-offenders Maths and English up to Level 2 (GCSE level).

This year, I have been working in a College in London teaching a variety of different subjects. I have been teaching Maths and English up to Level 2. I have also taught IT up to A-Level, including some basic adult evening classes and have experience in Microsoft Office applications. The majority of my classes were GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry classes. As students found my lessons useful, I also provided GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry revision classes during the holidays.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that all students have potential, but it is up to their tutor to help them reach that potential. I prepare before every class to ensure I have the best resources to aid my students in their learning. It is essential to go into a class with a flexible attitude, as sometimes it is essential to find an alternative way of explaining a concept.

Finding different ways of remembering information is useful, as everyone has a different learning style. I can also provide helpful hints and tips, especially as I remember my own experience of studies as well as my background in education.
