Personal Description:
Born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1981, Andreas started his classical guitar studies at the age of seven, under the tuition of Anastasios Amiridis. He completed his guitar diploma at the Municipal Conservatory of Thessaloniki in 2002 receiving the highest mark.

Andreas then continued with his education obtaining a Bachelor and Master's degree in music from Ionian University of Greece. He has also a Postgraduate title from Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria.

There have been many famous and distinguished guitarists that Andreas studied with or attended master classes such as Leo Brouwer, Eliot Fisk, Ricardo Gallen, Jorge Morel, Ε. Αsimakopoulos, Marco Tamayo, Costas Cotsiolis, David Russell.

Andreas has accomplished many goals within his musical career. He has won several National and International contest prizes. He was invited as a soloist in many festivals like the 4th Congress Association of Southeastern Guitarists, Naxos Guitar Festival, Evangelos Asimakopoulos guitar festival in Patras etc.

He has performed as a soloist guitar player as well as accompanied by Chamber music or by Orchestras. One of Andreas career highlights came in October 2008 when he played in Athens Concert Hall with the Athens Camerata-string Orchestra in front of HRH Princess Irene of Spain.

Since 2008 he has begun making his own transcriptions of works by composers of the wider musical repertoire on the guitar. As of July 1st 2010 the release of his first personal CD called "Classical Styles for Today" is ready for purchase.

Whilst living in Oxford, I found I enjoyed being a tutor so much, that I chose to leave my day job and pursue tuition as a full-time career in December 2012. Two years later, I transferred to London to set up home with my now husband and continued to work as a tutor. However, I found that I had free time during the school day and I wanted to improve my teaching skills, and gain formal recognition for those I had already acquired. I embarked on a two-year part-time teacher training course - secondary school science with a specialism in physics.

I was offered a role at my training school, and took up a position at a local Academy as a teacher of both science and maths. During this period, I undertook extensive training regarding the change to the new (9 - 1) GCSEs and became familiar with the International Baccalaureate - both the diploma and the career-related programme.

In 2016, my husband and I returned to Bedford to start our family and I accepted a position at a local boys' school, teaching science from year 6 to A-level. Following the birth of our daughter 5 years ago, I decided to once again return to full-time tuition in order to spend more time with my growing family.

I tailor each lesson to suit the student's needs. The first few lessons usually focus on getting to know the student and their strengths and weaknesses. I identify areas for improvement and use subsequent lessons to work on these, as well as ensuring that the student is comfortable with the whole of the syllabus. I'm David and I'm a year 13 student having just graduated from St Paul's School London and finished A levels and looking to go on to study Mathematics at either the University of Cambridge or Imperial College London next year, with 4 A* predicted and 9s in 11/11 subjects at GCSE. I really love Maths and Physics and so I naturally have spent lots of time trying to understand the entire A level syllabus, to the point where I'm now confident I could teach it and anything below that to absolutely anybody, and would love to be able to help those who want to improve their grades. I've tutored previously in St Mary's Ukrainian School for a period of 6 months, where I tutored GCSE Maths and brought up three peoples' grades from a 7 to a 9, a 6 to an 8 and a 6 to a 9 respectively. Although I had to stop the tutoring due to other commitments the students that I tutored said that they would absolutely have continued if I had had the availability, and it heped me understand more where people struggle and how to best help them with their studies.

Of course I think the question volume is important but beneath all of that I think that you need to have a comprehensive understanding of the subject in order to build confidence for the actual exam so I might use various questions as examples (which I'm very well versed in having just finished A levels) but if it's clear that there's a fundamental gap in understanding I'll address that first before teaching them how to do the questions.
