Students may ask to recap concepts and theories that aren't fully understood, however in my experience most require help with exam technique, and how to translate their knowledge into a high grade answer. I therefore place a great emphasis on guiding students through the process of answering past paper questions, across all topic areas. In our sessions I will help with essay structure, illustrate how to use higher order analytical and evaluation skills, and crucially, how to apply an answer to information in a case study, or how to bring in real world examples.

Over the years I have taught an increasing proportion of students online, so that currently about 90% of my tutoring is done this way. I use Skype/Google Meet/Zoom and Google Docs, which students can also access. "Matt only got an E grade in his February A2 mock exam and the school predicted he would get a C grade at A2. With the significant assistance from Ian, Matt achieved an A* at A2. My lessons are very interactive, oral practice and listening feature highly in my lesson plans. Although I prefer to use a coursebook such as Facon de Parler to structure my teaching, I also include a number of mixed medias and online resources (videos, audios, films) to complement the programme. To me, culture is important too, so I include documents such as films, news items and material relating to everyday life in France and current affairs (traditions, tourism, multiculturalism, institutions, politics). I set regular homework and additional tasks online in order to create a full teaching environment for the student for the duration of their course.

I am a freelance photographer and graphic designer, with over 13 years professional experience.
A keen interest in portraiture and commercial photography has resulted in an associate level membership to the Royal Photographic Society.

Teaching Experience:
I am currently the subject lead for Graphic Design and Photography at Lincoln college.
I have been teaching for the last 6 years and have educated all of my students in the real world applications of both photography and graphic design.
I hold registered teacher status with the University of Hull enabling me to teach up to levels 4, 5, and 6 (Bachelors in Arts), as well as PGDE (Post Graduate Diploma in Education) teaching training qualification.

Personal Description:
I'm 28 years old and have a passion for teaching. I love helping and guiding students to gain success and knowledge in all areas but my favourite part is seeing children feel confident after learning a new skills. I'm kind, approachable and fun! I make learning fun and engaging by using different techniques.

Teaching Experience:
I've been teaching for 4 years but prior to this I worked in as a teaching assistant (TA/PSA). I've done tutoring for the last couple of years and love getting to know students and help them with their needs.

Tutoring Approach:
I cater for the child. I adapt lessons to best suit them. Do they need a bit of extra help to meet their age related expectations or do they need to be pushed higher to gain a level higher. Whatever the needs, I want to help!
