Alan began exhibiting his photography back in 1995 and won various awards through the Australian photography industry bodies: the A.I.P.P. and A.C.M.P. In 1997, he was awarded the 'Nikon/Panorama Showcase Photographer of the Year' for his portfolio of ten images. The judges included the late David Moore. In 2006 he received two nominations in the international Black and White Spider Awards for fine art and sport.
