Hello! I am 47 years old, originally from Denmark and moved to the UK 20 years ago for my degree. Before teaching, I worked as a monkey veterinary technician in the US, conducted my Masters research on crop-raiding macaques in Indonesia, and helped to run a volunteer expedition in the Amazon. After a couple of years of teaching in secondary school as a Science and Spanish teacher, I heard the call of the wild again and travelled for a year through Mexico and Central America. My tutoring is tailored to the individual pupil rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme. We can focus on particular topics they find difficult, consolidate what they are currently learning in school, work through homework or prepare specifically for assessments and exams.

I like to combine clear explanations with plenty of worked examples and exam-style questions, particularly focusing on problem-solving, calculations and how to approach SQA questions effectively.

Most importantly, I want pupils to understand why they are doing something rather than simply memorising a method. My aim is to improve both their Physics ability and their confidence, so that eventually they can tackle questions much more independently.
