Hello. I am a fully qualified teacher with experience across the whole of the primary curriculum, including special needs and teaching for SATS tests . I continually update my teaching, mainly through the National Education Union online training sessions. I became a practicing artist and researcher in the subject of Britishness and modern values since 2003. Working from my studio as well as researching . My approach is open and relatively informal. I feel that tutoring works best when a relationship is established between myself and the student - they should feel free to ask questions, raise issues, and discuss any aspect of the work that interests them. It's very different to being taught in the classroom: in addition to individual attention, it also offers the opportunity to read and study texts not on the curriculum which can augment and strengthen the school syllabus. English is essentially a skills based subject. Although there is a lot of content to learn at both GCSE and A level, students benefit from being able to access and flexibly use the techniques needed to study and criticize. Reading, debating, and discussing a variety of texts enables the student to develop and apply these skills in lessons and exams.

Tuition is available in English Language and Literature for all secondary years, including GCSE resits. I can also tutor pupils preparing for the 11+, and scholarship entry in Year 7 or Year 9. Tutoring sessions are specifically geared to the student's individual needs, and may include functional literacy, close discussion of a set text, exam revision, and past papers. Hi my name is Tuba and I can confidently say that teaching SEN and working with students who have additional needs is my passion!

I am originally from Turkey and I came to England to pursue my dream as an SEN specialist. I studied MA Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Since I finished my masters degree in 2020, I have been tutoring several students with different needs around Manchester. Although I gained confidence and deeper knowledge within my studies, I was definetly missing out of the joy of teaching during my studies :)

In 2014, I got my qualified teacher status as a Primary school teacher within 4 years of Bachelor's degree back in Turkey. Prior to that, I had several 1-1 tutees since 2010 as the qualification that I was getting was in high demand! During my BA studies, I tutored more than 20 primary school students on a regular basis.

After I graduated in 2014, I started to work in a primary school for 6 months, then I decided to get trained in Special Needs Education as Special Needs support in Turkey is one-on-one basis. That's something that I realised during my education and work experience- I was enjoying and working the best if I was working 1-1 basis. Thus, I got trained by the Ministry of Education in Turkey as Special Needs Expert.

Between 2015-2018 I worked as a Special Needs Specialist (1-1 support) across several schools. I worked with more than 150 students who have ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, learning disabilities, down syndrome, multiple and profound learning disabilities, visual and hearing impairments. I worked with students from age 2 to 30. In the mean time, I topped up my knowledge studying 2 years foundation degree in Child Development to have more of a professional perspective on early years/Foundation stage.

In 2018, I moved to England to start my MA studies in Special Needs and carried on teaching 1-1 ever since I graduated in 2020.

I worked with several children/teenagers/young adults across Manchester within different settings. I got trained in Applied Behavioural Analysis/ABA and tutored in this area offering behavioural support alongside the academic support I have been offering.

I got regular students in Manchester , offering home schooling, pastoral and behavioural support on a regular basis. I have also offered short term interventions , behavioural/emotional support to students who have different needs during this period.

Then, to go further - I would like to meet the students to briefly assess what they need or simply, to see if we get along. I provide a Traded Service to support schools in Wirral to meet the needs of pupils with English as an additional language (EAL) and ethnic minority pupils. My role is to facilitate good home/school communication for refugee and asylum- seeking families with aim of ensuring that each pupil achieves their full potential. I support pupils' settling into school and development of English sometimes via translations of instructions and curriculum language. I also provide support for families prior to and during admission of children with EAL to school/setting. Encourage and promote home-school/setting-community links for example: supporting schools in developing initiatives to meet the needs of EAL parents by providing information about ESOL classes and weekend community language classes. On the other hand, I provide information for staff regarding pupil's first language, cultural and religious issues, meanwhile, I support staff with any initial or ongoing pupil assessment and prepare dual language labels and materials for schools/setting.

Arabic Language Assessment Specialist, Cambridge International Assessments , Cambridge University, UK.
Successfully participated as an Assistant Moderator (Postal), to moderate the work from approximately 20 centres with candidates taking the examination in 0544/03 Foreign Language Arabic Speaking (c/w) for the June 2018 & 2019 sessions. In addition, I have also worked as an Assistant Examiner to mark the work of approximately 400 candidates taking the examination in 0508/01 First Language Arabic Reading (scoris) for the June 2018&2019 sessions, where the marking was done via RM processor. Furthermore, due to my excellence in the pre mentioned 4 modules, I was asked to perform further services with Cambridge assessments, where I was required to proofread test material for 3180/01 & 3180/02 OL Arabic June 2019. Throughout my work with Cambridge, a keen eye on detail and meeting deadlines were a key aspect of my work which extended my contracts further in 2019, when I was asked to be the Setter for the 9680/21 test material for AL Arabic November 2021.

Planning, running and administering Arabic evening classes for undergrades and open for the public. 10 years working within the university where I became an Arabic Edexcel GCSE Examiner, International Cambridge Speaking, reading and translation moderator as well as supporting with IB Diploma.
I have been running the Arabic evening classes at the Modern Languages Department, where I have enjoyed engaging my students in different Arabic language activities to facilitate their language acquisition through Mastering Arabic Series.

I'm a creative, passionate, patient and empathetic teacher and careworker with years of experience supporting children across their primary school journeys to find their confidence and love of learning. Over the years I have worked both in schools as an SEND TA and a mainstream class teacher, and outside of schools supporting families and young people with SEND to access support.
