This coaching-based approach I take has proven highly successful. I approach each student and the sessions with an open mind to learn what I need to be of support.

Combining motivational coaching techniques, I offer a uniquely engaging, personally attuned service. The first lesson typically consists of a complimentary educational assessment (usually 30 minutes) to help identify key areas for improvement . All results can be shared with the parent/guardian. Based on this initial assessment, a 100% individual and tailored programme of learning is created. Tutoring Approach:
My first step is always to assess exactly where my student is at so that I can plan the content for sessions accordingly and make sure that they get the best out of each lesson. If there are any gaps in the foundations of their knowledge we can then attack these head on. My approach is thus very organised and tailored to the specific needs of the student, with small goals set per session alongside a long term goal to work towards. I always ensure that my lessons are engaging, and work towards building a good relationship with my students, encouraging them to ask questions without any hesitation. I adapt my approach depending on my students' learning style as I feel this is the key to successful teaching.

At GCSE and A Level, my aim is always to make sure that students are completely familiar with the subject specification and assessment objectives as this dictates exactly where they can pick up most marks. Completing as many past papers as possible is also a step in the right direction, alongside completing assignments set by myself. My approach for students studying Psychology at degree level depends on what is required. Hi! I'm an Oxford graduate with a 2:1 in English Language and Literature. I graduated in 2013 and went on to study an MSc in Psychology at Oxford Brookes, in which I achieved a distinction. I am now a published author, and split my time between writing novels and tutoring. When I was in the 6th form (in 2009), I also volunteered as a classroom assistant in my school. I was working with students who were having difficulty with essay-based subjects like History and English. I worked with two students in their History classes, helping them to understand the work they were set in class and working through it with them. I had to use my knowledge of French to help one student who had not yet learnt to speak fluent English, translating the teacher's instructions for her and helping her with words she did not understand. Between 2009-10, I helped to run two after-school classes for Key Stage 2 pupils, one in Literacy and Art and another in Drama. This involved planning and delivering lessons to classes of about 5-10 children, and keeping them engaged with the topics they were learning through activities designed to both teach and entertain.

Tutoring Approach:
My experience of tutoring has shown me the importance of patience and respect in teaching. Especially in essay-based subjects, it is crucial that a teacher allows their pupils space to develop their own ideas, and respects their independent thought. Learning by rote has only limited usefulness: the best way to excel at a subject is to understand it, so I always explain concepts as fully as possible and move at the tutee's pace, making sure that they have properly grasped each concept or issue before moving on to the next. My Schools Plus training emphasised the idea that the goal of tutoring is to help a student to help themselves, enabling them to tackle problems rather than solving things for them. I think that this is fantastic advice, and it is a rule which I always try to bear in mind when tutoring.

I started working as a tutor in London and Surrey in 2013/2014, mainly for students who had been excluded from school. In 2015 I relocated and began tutoring private clients in East Anglia. In 2016 I started offering online tuition, first using Skype, and now with Zoom. Hi,
My name is Liam, I have both courtroom experience and am a PhD candidate at Aberystwyth University.

In my degree, I worked at a charity called Veterans Legal Link where I gained much of my legal experience. While at this charity we focused on providing legal support to Veterans and their families on any topic that would arise. Through both this and working at solicitors firms since then I have gained experience in both the form filling side of the law and actual courtroom advocacy.

In my degree, I scored a 2:1 and in my Master's, I scored a Distinction. I have experience teaching and tutoring and genuinely enjoy the job.

Teaching Experience:
I actively lecture at my university in an assistant role and am the sole provider of Westlaw lectures at my university. (Westlaw being the database law students use at university)

I was the president of the local debating Union (past tense as we have a limited amount of terms), I have also been the captain of my debating teams back at A level. In both of these cases it is my responsibility to teach the members of the societies to learn to debate.

As a result of my teaching the debating union I am currently at has been Welsh National Champions 2 years in a row and was the opening team at the Oxford Inter Varsity tournament in 2018.

As well as this I also assist in seminars with other students currently on my course, I enjoy law, history and politics (all 3 attribute to my current degree) and as well as being able to help others it also valuable helps me complete my course, you remember things better if you teach someone else.

Tutoring Approach:
I often find the main issue people find is getting the information committed to memory, particularly with heavy subjects like law and history. (I'll deal with politics separately) And as such I generally do presentations which focus on getting the information you need, in this respect I always try to remind people that generally the information you'll need isn't over complex,only the analysis is which should always be treated as separate. Using this method when helping others I have seen that they almost always are able to better remember the important facts they need, whether they be facts, prime ministers or types of cheese.

The second element I split lessons into becomes a lot more relevant for politics. This is analysis, the criticisms made of other ideas. This is always where the real marks are and just like my previous answer I rest on the fact that people normally only ever find things difficult when they over complicate things for themselves. My focus on analysis is making it as simple as it always is and running people through slowly how you would make your approach on the analysis. I'll never tell them how to think about something but instead how they can articulate their own thoughts.

I've recently graduated from studying English at Exeter College, Oxford and have began teaching full time. My main aim as a tutor is to ensure students leave my lessons with greater knowledge and understanding of the subject. Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. My name is Mairead (pronounced ma-raid, an Irish name meaning Margaret). I am a 26 year old living in Feltham, I work full time as a Disability Advisor and Autism Specialist Mentor supporting higher education students to access reasonable adjustments, provide pastoral support and advice. I also co-run workshops and events for the university I work for. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, spending time with my family, going to the gym, long walks and nature trails, swimming and arts and crafts. I am also a big fan of the cinema and watching the new films out. I graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2018, with a first class honours degree in Criminology and Sociology BSc. After graduation I became a support worker supporting those with mental health issues before my current role. I have recently completed a specialist mentoring qualification. I am content working full time currently, but may do a Masters or further study in future.

Please be aware for KS1 and younger tutoring my rates are £15 per session rather than per hour, to reflect that younger children may benefit from shorter sessions, but that their sessions will still need planning and admin work.

I have created and delivered workshops for classes of up to 90 pupils from primary school aged to university level on a range of creative and academic topics. I also have experience tutoring 1-to-1 for primary school aged students who have disabilities/ special educational needs.

I am a friendly and approachable tutor with extensive experience in academia, both as a graduate teacher and a student (I'm currently a PhD Psychology student). Having completed my GCSEs, A-levels, a BSci in Psychology, an MSci in Psychological Research, and currently pursuing a PhD in Perceptual Psychology, I understand the challenges students face.
