Tutoring Approach:
My approach is very student centric - focused on the needs of the student. If I believe theory is lacking, I will explain the theory in a comprehensive way. If I believe application is missing, I will go over many questions, guiding the student through them. I have a mix of my own questions and past paper questions that I use. As the exams draw nearer I will focus more on past papers.

I also give each student, if they or the parents want it, activities to do which I will mark at the next session. This is like homework except I will try to make it more engaging and fun. None of my activities are generalised - I will base each on what the student requires. For example, in the past my activities have ranged from book work, to a problem solving puzzle to solve over the course of the week, to an essay, to even a relatively light exercise of reading any magazine article and giving a presentation on it.

The tutor is the expert in subject knowledge and learning but it is the tutee who has the paramount role in their own education and excelling in their subjects. I firmly believe that the role of a tutor is that of a catalyst and the child's role in their own learning is of greater importance. I aim to guide the tutee to learn in a structured manner that so that the child does not waste their time jumping from topic to topic, randomly browsing a bit here and a bit there, as often happens. To do that, as tutor, I will facilitate their learning on a 1 to 1 basis so that they may gain a deeper and greater depth of knowledge of the subject. I will provide the subject knowledge expertise and transfer my knowledge to the tutee in a manner and at a level that is appropriate to the tutee but pushing them beyond their limits to the next stage. To achieve that grade "A*" a GCSE tutee should be able to understand basic AS Level material. I will work to improve the child's self esteem, self belief and confidence in their ability to do well. As a trained hypnotherapist I am particularly qualified to boost a child's self-esteem. Once the tutee is confident in their subject knowledge, then we will work on exam techniques and exam practice in order to enable the tutee to ace the exams and significantly improve their grades.

I will work with each tutee on an individual basis and adjust the tuition lessons to their needs. There is no standard one size fits all model with me. Homework will be set to enable the subject matter to be reinforced with some self-learning at home. Honest school teachers will tell you that it is the noisy and disruptive pupils that get their attention, whereas the quite shy hardworking pupils tend to get neglected. Busy school teachers just do not have the time or energy to devote to helping their quieter or weaker pupils and it is these pupils that especially benefit from extra personal tuition. On the other hand a brighter pupil may be so far ahead of his or her peers that the teacher is just not able to give them the attention they need. It is never too early to start boosting a child's education. For primary school children it is important that they get a good start to their education and do not lag behind. Tutoring Approach:
Every learner is different, so I like to find an approach that works with each of my students. Having taught people who struggled with subjects at school I try to find easy examples to illustrate particular concepts. I also believe that humour is a key part of the learning environment, and that learning should be enjoyable as well as educational.

While I am happy to meet face to face, I find that online tutoring works equally well and has the advantage of being able to record sessions that can be used by the student when revising. I am a Biomedical Master's student with a First-class BSc. in Biochemistry. I studied Maths (A*), Biology (A*), and Chemistry (A) at A-level. I offer well-rounded Maths and Science tuition geared towards the UK syllabus at competitive rates, and have a passion for life sciences.

Teaching Experience:
I have over 7 years of experience working as a private tutor, and have taught Maths, Biology and Chemistry to students ranging from KS3 to A-level. I also teach Physics to GCSE level. I also have worked as a volunteer mentor in my secondary school, helping children learn how to study and do exam preparation, and have worked as a mentor for Zero Gravity, providing university entrance advice and feedback on personal statements.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe learning works best when it feels more like a conversation, which is why I use the Socratic method. It's centred on asking questions and encouraging curiosity, guiding a student step by step so they discover the ideas, patterns and solutions themselves. My lessons are structured but never rigid.
