I usually start with the current topics that student is studying in the school and explain to the student that topic and related background knowledge. As I teach one to one, my pace is faster than school and we usually finish the topic in one or sometimes two classes. And then we do previous topics and I explain doubts on those topics. I am a scientist and engineer who has always been curious about how and why things work - from small scale to astronomical - and I really enjoy being able to draw upon that experience to help students to understand maths and science concepts in ways that they can apply in their own studies and help with exam questions. My approach is patient, supportive and focused on understanding rather than memorisation. I first identify the areas where a student needs support and adapt each lesson to their individual needs and learning style.

I break difficult topics into manageable steps, using clear explanations, worked examples and practice questions. I encourage students to explain their reasoning so I can identify and address gaps in their understanding.

For examination preparation, I use exam-style questions, worked solutions and problem-solving techniques to help students become more confident and effective in tackling unfamiliar questions.

My goal is to help students understand the subject, build confidence and become independent learners.

Personal Description:
I have over 20 years of tutoring experience and specialise in AQA/ OCR A Level Physics and Edexcel Maths. I also teach both subjects for GCSE. I have a First Class Honours degree in Electrical Engineering and a BA in Maths. I am a MIEE and a CEng.

Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring maths and physics for over 20 years, full time for the past 10 years. I teach AQA, Edexcel, OCR(A) and WJEC. I teach both UK and international students and my focus is sound principles and building student motivation to achieve excellent examination results.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is to build lessons around the very latest past paper questions pertinent to the requirements of each student. I focus on exam technique, strategy and question trends for each board.

I offer unlimited free support outside tutoring sessions by answering any questions via WhatsApp and help in using AI and other tools in the most advantageous ways.

I am a retired research engineer with degrees in engineering and maths. I am a Chartered Engineer, MIEE and also a member of Mensa.
