Hello! My name is Rochelle, and I am a fully qualified languages teacher with over ten years of teaching and tutoring experience.

I hold a PGCE in Modern Languages with Distinction from the University of Oxford and a First-Class Honours degree in French and Spanish from Queen's University Belfast. I also have a Master of Research (Distinction) in Arts and Humanities, with a focus on Spanish Studies.

I teach online via FaceTime and/or Skype from my home and at students' homes. I use Skype or Apple FaceTime. The video feed can be switched off at my student's request, or if it degrades the sound quality. Tests and exercises are sent to the student and returned to me for marking by email.

I was born and brought up in Paris, although much of my family roots lie in Brittany. I came to England initially to learn the language - but ended up meeting my future husband and starting a family here in Dorking, Surrey.

Apart from the obvious fact that I am a native French speaker - I have been teaching French since 2009 in schools, including Duke Of Kent in Ewhurst and Petite Ecole in Reigate, but mainly privately to exam students or adults wishing to improve their skills. My teaching approach to tutoring varies from objective to objective. Languages should always be taught in a full immersion style, especially when it is targeting groups of people who are doing it for either vocational or personal reasons.
Tutoring of subjects such as languages with an objective such as GCSE or Highers or indeed University exams must take into account the syllabus that students must complete in order to reach their target: i.e. pass exams and, at the same time, learn in an effective though 'unforgettable' way. The majority of classes must be delivered in the target language, however in order to meet timing of syllabus coverage and exams some of the concept must be strengthened in the student's language.
In an ideal world, where no exams or timed targets exist, then tutoring of a language should happen 100% in the target language.

I was born into a French-speaking family and have spoken French my entire life. I have a BA from the London School of Economics in French and Linguistics. I have also lived in France for several years. I have taught French privately for over 20 years and many of my students achieve very high standards. I am a native German speaker and I am passionate about teaching and I love people. I have a PhD in protein chemistry.

Teaching Experience:
I am teaching since 2012 and I have taught 31 private students so far. I have taught 17 Science GCSE and A-level classes in schools and Colleges. I also have taught 23 German, French and Italian evening classes.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is student and needs centred.
My language lessons can focus on speaking and listening, essential grammar and writing sentences and essays.
In science lessons all weaknesses can be discussed, school homework and exam paper questions.
A typical lesson with me is one hour per week with one additional hour of homework for the following lesson, however this is entirely up to the student.

I am a Undergraduate student at UCL studying Natural Sciences. I am from Belgium and french is my native language. I grew up in Hong Kong where I also learned to speak English. I love my native language and wish to help any motivated student who wants to learn French.

Teaching Experience:
I did all of my school years in Hong Kong in both French and English. French is my native language, I can therefore tutor for any level. I have also been taught two other languages, giving me a good perspective of the process needed to efficiently and productively learn a new language.

Tutoring Approach:
The best way to learn a language is through interactive classes. During my lessons we will be actively practicing pronunciations, simulating useful dialogues in French and learning in a fun way to write and remember essential vocabulary. I am open to adjust the classes depending on your age and level. The first class (held online) will be used to discuss and adjust to your requirements in order to make the classes as profitable and delightful as possible. My goal is to help you progress quickly while enjoying French!
