Teaching Experience:
During my teaching career I have taught in 4 different high schools including schools with a sixth form. My first post was in a Lancashire High school where I was responsible for the intervention in Mathematics which involves helping small groups of pupils who are below target in Mathematics. My last GCSE group all achieved grade A*-C. (set 2 of 6)

My next post was in a Sefton High School and sixth form where I was responsible for organising and running intervention. My GCSE group (set 5/bottom set) all achieved at least three levels of progress from their starting point and 3 pupils achieved a grade C (This was above their target grade).

In my final year I was teaching 3 GCSE classes. A higher group in which all achieved 6-9 as well as a vocational group and a bottom set where some pupils achieved grade 4 and others made their expected progress.

Some of the successes include a pupil moving from a predicted grade 6 to a grade 9 and another moving from a 5 in his December mock exam to a grade 8 in his March mock exam, gaining the award for most improved result in the whole school and then went on to achieve a 9 in his GCSE's. Another pupil who moved from a grade 2 to a grade 4. In total I had 14 final year students in 2017, 18 in 2018, 21 in 2019, 25 in 2020 and 23 in 2021, 26 in 2022, 18 in 2023, 12 in 2024 and 14 in 2025 who all improved their grade and achieved grades 4-9 (C-A*+).

Tutoring Approach:
I want all my students to be able to develop their understanding of mathematics rather than just learning how to answer a question. I try to work with their class teacher in following the methods they are being taught at school but also realise that different methods may be appropriate if they are struggling. I set homework weekly which is assessed at the start each session unless it is a longer piece or exam paper which is taken away and marked and brought back to the next session. I plan topics which are linked to previous learning in order to develop the bigger picture of mathematics but have excellent subject knowledge so I'm able to change my plan if the student wishes to look at another area that might have arisen as a problem in school/college. I also like my students to be proactive and get in touch if they wish to cover a particular topic which wasn't mentioned at the end of the previous session. I currently work in a 6th form college in Warrington where I teach and have taught a range of maths courses. This includes functional skills, engineering maths as well as the new specification GCSE and A level qualifications.

I'm David and I'm a year 13 student having just graduated from St Paul's School London and finished A levels and looking to go on to study Mathematics at either the University of Cambridge or Imperial College London next year, with 4 A* predicted and 9s in 11/11 subjects at GCSE. I really love Maths and Physics and so I naturally have spent lots of time trying to understand the entire A level syllabus, to the point where I'm now confident I could teach it and anything below that to absolutely anybody, and would love to be able to help those who want to improve their grades. I have had the most wonderful teachers during my time at school and so I am now confident that I can transmit any concepts and ideas lucidly to any of my tutees.

I've tutored previously in St Mary's Ukrainian School for a period of 6 months, where I tutored GCSE Maths and brought up three peoples' grades from a 7 to a 9, a 6 to an 8 and a 6 to a 9 respectively. Although I had to stop the tutoring due to other commitments the students that I tutored said that they would absolutely have continued if I had had the availability, and it heped me understand more where people struggle and how to best help them with their studies.

I have a 5 years of teaching online experience and each of my lessons will be tailored to your need. Not a one size fits all approach.
Each lesson will follow learning that will link. Exam focus and getting to know how to maximise your performance under examination condition.
Typical lesson will include PowerPoint, IWB and resources or relevant material shared with you via teaching platform .

Tutoring Approach:
Every lesson will focus on strengthening your learning and mathematical mastery - engaging you to analyse maths rather then do the maths. Linking key concepts and connection finding whilst practicing. This will enable you to become confident and fluent. Retain knowledge by revisiting and leading to complex multistage problem solving skills. At the same time I will offer preparation through the repetition of the same process. We will visit each and every topic until you are confident and ready for the next stage.
However keeping in mind that one hour will not magically change your results. You will need dedication and hard work outside the lesson to achieve the goal you wish to.
