Over the last 10 years I have developed a maths tutoring business for underachieving and under confident children, covering KS2,KS3 and GCSE,I use a combination of online, interactive maths support and face to face tutoring for children and young adults who for one reason or another find maths difficult.

Teaching Experience:
In my experience working with many students in a supportive, relaxed and friendly atmosphere on a one to one basis is completely the opposite to the classroom environment.

Students often find it difficult due to pier pressure to question when struggling to understand a particular topic.On a one to one basis this is easily overcome and it does result in significant improvements in their attainment.

I am an experienced tutor and understand how to make maths fun! I have been teaching for over three years across several primary schools in Ashbourne teaching years 3 to 6. I talk to the student and find out which areas they find difficult. In the lesson we go through these areas and tackle them one at a time. I can provide summer tutoring if required. I've also set up a primary maths resources business, I'm that excited about maths!

I am a qualified teacher having taught across several schools across Ashbourne. I struggled with maths in primary school so I had several years of maths tutoring in order to ensure that I passed GCSE maths. My tutor showed me that maths was not impossible and I decided to take it again at A level along with Further Maths AS. After a further two years of lessons (deforesting half of the planet printing off hundreds of past papers) I obtained an A* in A level maths. I used to find maths difficult. As a result I am able to explain difficult concepts. I completed my BSc in mathematics at the Open University in 2018 and am currently completing my MSc in Business and Finance at Derby University. Hello! I am 47 years old, originally from Denmark and moved to the UK 20 years ago for my degree. Before teaching, I worked as a monkey veterinary technician in the US, conducted my Masters research on crop-raiding macaques in Indonesia, and helped to run a volunteer expedition in the Amazon. After a couple of years of teaching in secondary school as a Science and Spanish teacher, I heard the call of the wild again and travelled for a year through Mexico and Central America. I now feel very settled here in England and am raising two beautiful daughters, as well as a menagerie of animals, including chickens, guinea pigs, and a dog.

I completed my teaching degree in 2007 at Canterbury Christ Church University. I trained in two very different types of schools.. a private Catholic boarding school and a comprehensive high school, which gave me the experience to engage students of different abilities and backgrounds. I also received training to teach EAL and SEN students. My teaching qualification is in Science, but as a fluent Spanish speaker I also teach Spanish to both adults and children in schools and private tuition. I have been a teacher for many years having received my PGCE in 1992. Since that time I have worked in a variety of schools in the state and private sectors both in London and Oxfordshire. Teaching physics is a great privilege and pleasure having taught A Level physics for both OCR and Edexcel boards as well as GCSE and iGCSE physics and chemistry. Hello my name is Anne-Marie, I am from Ireland but have been living in the UK since 2004. This is now a place I call home. I realised I had a flare for imparting knowledge when I became a basketball trainer at 15, working with Primary and Secondary pupils. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, saw the progress the pupils I trained had made and knew from that moment that teaching was my vocation as it was and is so rewarding. I am a PhD student at the University of Manchester researching materials for applications to nuclear fusion. I am deeply passionate about my subject, although I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea! I enjoy working with students of varying ages and abilities and take pride in encouraging students to reach their full potential. I am patient and understanding in my approach, which I will adapt to meet the strengths and needs of all students. I have an up-to-date knowledge of the secondary Maths curriculum, enabling me to teach Maths at KS3 and GCSE.

I have been teaching Maths for over 28 years and my students always reach their potential and beyond. I am familiar with all the examination boards and experienced in tutoring a variety of students to GCSE in a private, one-to-one capacity.

I graduated in 2020 with a Diploma of Higher Education in Mathematics from Heriot-Watt University. Since graduating I have been working as a Data Analyst, using problem solving and mathematical logic every day.
I have taught myself how to code in various languages, such as R and SQL. I love mathematics and statistics and I look forward to using this passion to help others.

I have tutored family and friends to achieve their National 5 and Higher qualifications.
In my current and previous roles, I have trained new starts, which requires teaching a lot of specific industry knowledge in a small amount of time. I pride myself on being very patient, passionate and understanding.

My biggest aim when tutoring is to install confidence in a tutees ability in mathematics and help them reach their qualification goals. I believe that a motivated and willing tutee can achieve any goal with some one-to-one help.

Personal Description:
My name is Edwin. I am originally from the United States and have lived in Scotland since 2016.

I enjoy working with children and helping them reach their potential. As a university student, I first discovered my interest in teaching by volunteering in my mother's preschool. And since then, I have worked with children in varying capacities. Outside of teaching, I was a volunteer youth counsellor for five years and a volunteer youth basketball coach for four years.

Teaching Experience:
I am a newly qualified Primary Teacher in Scotland, currently working as a supply teacher. I have experience teaching at all levels of primary education in a variety of school settings.

As a doctoral candidate, I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) at the University of Glasgow. In this capacity, I led seminars and helped students plan their essays, which I later marked.

I also used to work as a substitute teacher and after school coordinator in the United States, working primarily with early level students.

Tutoring Approach:
As a teacher and a tutor, I build positive relationships by being both professional and approachable.

Understanding their prior learning is important for creating challenging lessons which engage and motivate my students. Furthermore, I stay up-to-date with educational initiatives and learning strategies.

Pupil welfare must always be the first and foremost consideration, and I strive to teach to their needs and in the style which best benefits them.
