I am an experienced tutor and understand how to make maths fun! I have been teaching for over three years across several primary schools in Ashbourne teaching years 3 to 6. I'm thirty and have lived, worked and studied in the south Hampshire area my whole life. I love the area and intend on staying here for the foreseeable future! I'm a doctor currently working as a GP Registrar, having completed a Graduate Entry Medicine degree at the University of Southampton. I've worked in a wide range of specialities, including Child Health, Acute Medicine and General Surgery - and a stint in A&E during the Coronavirus pandemic!
Before starting my studies in Medicine, I completed my BSc. (Hons) Human Physiology at the University of Portsmouth in 2015. I attended Hamble Community Sports College, achieving 14 GCSEs at grade A and A* - top of my year - and Peter Symonds College, studying Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Critical Thinking and General Studies. My Mathematics and Statistics GCSE (taken a year early) were the highest the school had ever achieved, both gaining an A* (99.5% and 100% respectively).

During my GCSE preparation and exam period, I tutored several students in my year and below for Mathematics and Statistics, alongside their current teaching at school. I have also, however, given tuition to other adults, most of whom were taking their Mathematics GCSE as an extra qualification in order to get a promotion at work. Mathematics being a specific passion of mine, I encourage students to apply their own knowledge to the question, before adding any new information. By showing proof of how a calculation or question works, I believe that anyone can grasp a method if they are shown the reason behind its usage. I believe I can offer an alternative to the class driven method of teaching, and allow students to gain aptitude in spotting the need for a calculation just by reading the question, and hopefully then on to creating their own calculations and solutions! I also aim to make a heavy question of 5 or 6 marks appear to be just a group of smaller questions, making each mark easier to get. I've been teaching for twelve years now and I've seen many students suffer from a lack of confidence in their own ability, and I always ensure that not only does the person have core, and advanced knowledge, but that they have confidence in the fact that anything can be achieved!

I am an aerospace engineer by qualification with a Bachelor's and Masters degree from the University of Leeds in Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering. I am currently a grade-one "outstanding" teacher in my present school, and have been delivering KS3, GCSE and A Level English, Maths and History in the secondary and sixth-form sectors for the past 16 years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding results and innovative teaching methods, I have served as Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded an internal grade 1 "outstanding" rating for the 6 years in which I held the post. Furthermore, I also have extensive experience as an "Advanced Practitioner"-tasked with turning around failing cohorts in some of the UK's toughest classrooms, as well as my time as an examiner for a variety of GCSE/A Level exam boards.

Moreover, due to this long history of being a stand-out professional in the education sector, my advice has been sought out for occasional media and radio appearances for discussions on educational policy, whilst also being head-hunted to tutor the children of prominent public figures including Premiership footballers, Olympic athletes, luminaries of the business world, and even the family of a Nobel Prize winner for a month-which was awesome!

I work in Research & Innovation at the University of Surrey where I help academics (Lecturers and PhD students) make a positive difference with their research, such as build start-up businesses. Previously, I was a Research Fellow designing spacecraft structures having finished my PhD Mechanical Engineering. Over the first lessons we identify the current situation - what we're happy with, what we're not so happy with - look at the course syllabus, as this varies across regions and examination boards, and we focus on what we can improve to yield the most valuable outcome. I am a primary school tutor from Yorkshire and a modern foreign languages graduate from the University of Edinburgh. I have spent time teaching EFL in France and Spain and primary subjects in the UK both in schools and as a private tutor. I am now offering primary tuition services online in York during this time when parents might need to be working from home and need extra support with their child's homework.

Teaching Experience:
I taught as a private tutor in Salamanca whilst studying for my degree and for one year in Barcelona following this in a nursery, primary and secondary school. I additionally taught in two primary schools in Paris. I have worked as both a teaching assistant in the UK and as an English as a foreign language tutor in a Languages College. I hold a first class degree from the University of Oxford in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. I am currently doing a Master's in Economic Research at Cambridge University and want to be a researcher in economics. Past students in Politics, Economics and Maths A-Level have achieved A/A* in public examinations I taught them for. I have four years tutoring experience. I can help students excel in 7+,11+,13+ and University entrance exams. I can help students achieve top grades in maths, science and English GCSE. I also can help students excel in economics, maths and politics A-Level, as I was a top graduate (in the top 8%) form the University of Oxford in those subjects. I achieved A*AAA at A-Level in Further Maths, History and Politics. I took five AS levels and averaged 94% in them. I scored 10A*s plus an A in additional maths at GCSE at RGS Guildford. I greatly enjoy mentoring and inspiring students to excel in their education. I derived an enormous amount of joy and excitement from my education. It is a wonderful thing to inspire my students to succeed and thrive in their studies. My ambition is to return to the University of Oxford to do a masters and doctorate in economics.

Teaching Experience:
I have four years experience as a private tutor, teaching: GCSE maths, oxbridge applications (interviews, personal statements, general preparation and guidance and the PPE entrance exam), GCSE science (chemistry, biology and physics), english GCSE, politics A-Level, economics A-Level and 11+ and 13+ entrance exams for private schools. I have helped students win places at RGS Guildford, Churcher's College, KCS Wimbledon, Wellington College and places at Oxford University (A student came in the top 1% of Oxford University PPE applicants after private lessons, but was on the 30th percentile in practice exams beforehand). I tutored maths for the 11+ entrance exam and they achieved a commendation for their performance in the exam. I have taught students aged 7-13 at the Kumon maths centre in Haslemere. I have structured revision and school work for students who dropped out of school for their GCSEs, providing home schooling. I inspired many students in maths by accelerating them quickly through the GCSE course.

Tutoring Approach:
I have a surface pro with a pen for online lessons. In economics and maths, I use an online whiteboard which students have permanent access to, to write notes and solutions to exam questions. My approach is to accelerate students as fast as possible through their given course using exam material to deepen and develop their knowledge. I find I can accelerate students rapidly in maths (at GCSE and A-level), whilst they greatly enjoy the subject and the sessions. Students quickly improve at school too, which gives them extra confidence in their talents and capabilities. I set students past papers questions and we resolve any difficulties they had in the session. Iterating through past paper questions in this manner leads to exceptional results: a student of mine came in the top 1% in the entrance exam against Oxford University applicants and gained a place. Similarly, students excel at 11+, 13+, GCSE and A-Level in this manner. Practicing exam material and constantly pushing myself is how I achieved first class hons at the University of Oxford (as well as how I exceled at school), coming top in Game Theory in the exam, so I believe in this approach.

I am a very experienced teacher of English and Drama at GCSE, A-level, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I believe that every student has the potential to make progress and that with the right direction this is possible. In my experience students develop in a supportive environment and I work hard to make this a key part of my teaching practice. I am currently a 3rd Yr BSc Discrete Mathematics (Maths & Computer Science) undergraduate at the University of Warwick with a predicted grade of First.
Mathematics has always been a passion of mine because I love the problem-solving aspect of it and the useful applications it has to the real world. Maths is far more significant than most people think, since most of us use it in our everyday life, yet they lack the proper understanding of certain concepts to solve various unseen problems.
As a result, I believe that Maths provides students with an effective way of building mental discipline and encourages logical reasoning and mental rigor. Also, mathematical knowledge plays a fundamental role in understanding the content of other school subjects.
My approach of gaining a full understanding of the content and completing several practice questions proved to be extremely rewarding since it allowed me to successfully attain a GCSE Excellence Award (achieved by the top 5% of the cohort) as well as obtaining over 90% in all of my Maths A-Level modules.
Most importantly, I want to pass this curiosity and enthusiasm onto my students to unlock their true potential, alongside utilizing my 1 year of teaching experience, in order to make Maths more enjoyable for them and consistently adapt my tutorials to address any of their weaknesses to ensure they are resolved asap so that they can truly appreciate what they are learning.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to making learning effective is simple:
1) Presenting and delivering the content in way that is easy and enjoyable to learn, since it is proven and from my experience that this is the most beneficial and quickest way for students to learn.
2) Ensuring that my students are understanding the content comfortably instead of simply memorizing it. I will do this through constant interaction, whilst working through countless exam-style and unseen questions with them to ensure that they can apply key concepts of what they have learned.
Together, this will guarantee that my students are not only well-equipped for their upcoming exams, but by solving more complex unseen problems, it will make the exam questions seem easy in comparison so that my students can effortlessly achieve the highest possible grade.
Each session, I will spend a small amount of time highlighting some weak areas from the previous tutorials, so that we can discuss how to improve as a way of tracking progress. After this, I will run through some example questions and ask students to explain their ideas and their thought process on solving the problem as if they were teaching it to me, which will truly demonstrate the student's ability on how well they have understood the topic. Throughout the session, I am more than happy to answer any questions/ queries from the students regarding anything they have learnt, in order to maximize their knowledge and confidence in the exams.

I'm Ahsan
I'm a Medical Student at Anglia Ruskin University, I've worked hard to get to the stage I am.
During GCSEs my strongest subjects were Maths and Science. During A levels my strongest my subjects were Maths and Chemistry. I believe I've always found those subjects interesting and simple to understand because of my approach to learning the more complex topics. And this is something I'd like to share as I understand how confusing and difficult it can for students to wrap their head around a subject when there are many other subjects to study for. Through tutoring I'd like to teach students simple approaches to difficult topics !

Teaching Experience:
I have been a cricket coach for juniors ages 4-16 for 4 years.
Through medical school I've been part of societies which involves learning and teaching different complex topics. During all my stages of studying from GCSES and A levels to Medical School I have always studied in groups, learning from and teaching my friends.

Tutoring Approach:
Good tutoring doesn't require a specific approach, it depends on the learning pattern of the student, I've always studied in groups I understand some students may pick up certain topics through different explanations and examples to another student. My approach to tutoring would be whatever suits the students better, whether it's : explanations, examples, similar questions to the question they're struggling with. I aim to teach the student through various methods, in my opinion learning is important but consolidation through repetition is more important
