I have over 5 years experience in personal tuition and I lived for a year in France during my degree and did the British Council assistant ship 2012/2013 in 3 primary schools teaching English. On the back of that I also did some extra one to one tutoring.
From my own experience I think it is important to follow the tutee's needs, and work on those first. I always try to follow the student's lead and tailor sessions as much as possible.
